  “What?”

“If I were the one with the evil twin, what would you tell me to do? Become a nun? Get my tubes tied? Run the Mystery Spot…alone…miserable…until they found my cold, dead body in the maze where I tripped over my walker and died of exposure because nobody missed me?”

He shuddered. “Of course not. You deserve a full, rich life with a family and everything.”

“I’ll have that with you, Shane. You came to the Hills to rescue me from my past. You did that. I’m no longer that shattered young girl afraid of life. I haven’t had a nightmare since the first day we started working together. You’re my hero, Shane, and I’m not going to let you ruin my happy ending. I won’t. Luca and I are here to stay. Get used to it.”

His low rumble made her warm from the inside out, but it scared Luca, who barked and pressed closer to her side. Shane petted him. “Hush, boy, it’s okay. Everything’s fine. No, I take that back. Everything’s great.”

And Jenna knew without a doubt he was right.
