“Nothing is going to be scripted.”

  “No, ma’am.”

“And I get to see the edited version before it airs to make sure what I say is something I actually said.”

  “Done. But one thing.”

  “Yes?”

“We do want Marge as one of your bridesmaids.”

Tonya sighed. “I’m sure she’d worm her way in anyway. That’s fine.”

“Excellent. We’re coming back to Willowdale.”

  “See you in six weeks.”

Tonya hung up and wandered into the kitchen of her salon, where Tommy was installing a new faucet. “You don’t have to do that. We won a hundred thousand dollars. I think we can pay someone to save you the trouble.”

He wiped his forehead with the back of his hand. “I told you I was going to do it, and I’m going to do it.” He tightened a few fittings with his wrench. “There. All done.” He turned the water back on under the sink, then tested the faucet. “Perfect.”

While he washed up, she asked, “So what are you going to do now?”

He dried off his hands and headed for the sitting room, crooking a finger for her to follow him.

“Nothing’s broken in there,” she told him.

He held open the door and she gasped. Candles lit up the room and flowers filled several vases while soft music played in the background. A blanket was spread over the couch. “What’s this?” she asked.

“For old time’s sake.” He gathered her in his arms and kissed her. “And I’d like my buzz cut back.”

“I don’t know, that’ll mean an awful lot of early trims,” Tonya teased.

“Nope. Remember what Marge said? ‘Get yourself a wife and razor and you can have a trim whenever you want.’ Any position too, as I recall.”

“And what position would that be?” she asked.

He led her into the sitting room. “Come here and I’ll show you what I had in mind.”

  She smirked. “I’m all yours.”

He pulled her into a hug. “Finally.”

I’m a former TV news anchor who now enjoys making up stories instead of sticking to the facts. I’ve dreamed of writing professionally ever since penning my first creative writing assignment in second grade.

When not begging my husband and two kids for a few minutes of peace to write my stories, I work as a voice actor and putter around in my koi pond and garden in upstate NY.
