Always Dangerous Page 31

Kim’s eyes rounded even more. “Leo…?” He loved her speechless too. That rarely happened.

“This is in keeping with making you hot.” He gazed up at her, the ring ready to slide on her finger. They hadn’t talked about marriage. They’d talked partnership. They’d talked about her helping him produce his next three films. Did she really think he wasn’t going to make this deal a permanent situation? “Will you marry me?”

Tears filled her pretty eyes, but her smile gave him the answer right before she whispered, “Yes.”

Leo had hoped for that reply, but hearing it still put a lump in his throat as he placed the ring where it belonged. He stood up, taking her lips in a sweet kiss before holding her hand out and admiring the sparkle.

“You want to marry me?” She stared at the ring like it was the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

“You did hear me ask a second ago, right?” He grinned at the utter fascination she had with the ring. “Do I need to get down again and—”

“No!” She stopped him from kneeling again, her eyes watery and full of happiness. “We just never talked about it. I didn’t think you ever wanted to get married.”

“I didn’t. Until you came along. You fit me. You make me better.” He pulled her close. “You love me for me. Not for my movies or my money or my reputation or lack of reputation. You don’t let me get away with shit and you keep me on my toes. It doesn’t get better than that.”

“You fit me too,” she whispered. “I’m so glad we found each other. There was a time not too long ago that I thought I’d never be this happy. That I’d never have the chance to have it all. A family, a career, a man I love… Thanks for making my dreams come true.”

“All in a day’s work,” he teased, bending down to brush his lips against hers.

She sighed into his mouth before pulling away. She studied the ring and the opulent condominium. “Although, I see I’m going to have to watch your spending like a hawk.” She wiped at a tear. “This is beautiful. All of it.” She wrapped her arms around his neck and rubbed up against him, causing all sorts of impulses to fire to life. “But from now on no more surprises. We’re a team which means we talk about big ticket items.”

“Said the woman who just spent a fortune to buy back my car.”

“Guilty as charged. It was worth every penny to see your face.” She shook her head with another glance around the room. Her smile softened and her eyes narrowed. “I’ve discovered that sometimes you are a dangerous man, Leo Frost.”

“Baby, I’m always dangerous.” He took her lips in a hot kiss, sure to end this conversation, then eased her coat off her shoulders and tossed it to the side. He was pretty sure he missed the chair he was aiming for, but didn’t really care because she pulled at the button on his jeans, took the zipper down and made his head fuzzy with lust—and love—when she stroked her palm down his hard-on.

“So where’s the bed in this palace?” She took his hand and walked backward, leading him God only knew where since they didn’t know the layout of the place.

“I think it’s down that hall and to—”

Kim laughed, turned and started running, her heels clicking on the floor. She really could do anything in stilettos. Leo chased her. Once he caught her, he wasn’t ever letting her go.

  The Adrenaline Highs Series

  Dangerous Race:

5 stars – Laura Wright, author of Mark of the Vampire and Bayou Heat series.

  “High Octane Awesomeness!”

4.5 stars – The Fiction Vixen.

“Really, really fabulous read. The mystery / suspense subplot is interesting and keeps you on your toes, the main and secondary characters are all great and likable, there is sizzling chemistry in both the primary and secondary romances, and it’s well-written.”

4 stars – One Good Book Deserves Another.

“Taking high octane romance and suspense to a whole other level, Adams goes green flag with a prologue that left me shaken and a story that both thrilled and chilled.”

  Danger Zone:

New York Times Bestselling author Suzanne Brockmann, on Danger Zone:

“Okay, I’ll admit it. I’m a sucker for romances set in the world of movie-making. But in DANGER ZONE, Dee J. Adams not only uses her years of experience in Hollywood to create a delightfully gritty and authentic world filled with insider insights; she also creates a cast of very real and likable characters. I especially loved stunt-woman Ellie Morgan’s kickass, take-no-prisoners attitude, and her long-time friendship with her best-friend and roommate Ashley. As for the book’s hero, Quinn Reynolds? I’m in love. This one’s on my keeper shelf.”

  Starred Review from Library Journal:

“Highly recommended for romantic suspense fans, especially those who like stories with complex relationships.” Marlene Harris, Reading Reality LLC

  Dangerously Close:

  4 stars – Romantic Times.

“Witty dialogue and unyielding suspense make for another great story in the Adrenaline Highs series. The hero and heroine are fully developed and emotionally rich, and the best part of the novel is the developing relationship between them from strangers to friends to lovers. Readers will enjoy spending time with these memorable characters.”

5 stars – The Book Vixen.

“Dangerously Close is hands down my favorite book in this series thus far and it’s easily one of my top picks for 2012. I was completely and utterly drawn into this story. The strong romance balanced out perfectly with the suspense element.”

  Living Dangerously:

  4 stars + Scorcher – Romantic Times.

“It has everything from the glitterati of Hollywood to a high-speed cross-country getaway—even a bit of bondage. Narrow escapes are the norm in this action-filled novel.”

  Imminent Danger:

  4 stars – Liz Donatelli

“Adams never fails to deliver a fast-paced plot filled with unexpected twists and ‘whoa…I can’t believe that just happened’ moments. Abbey & Blake’s story is as deliciously sexually charged as it is suspenseful.”

  A Little Danger:

5 stars – Happy Amazon Reader

“This is the type of book where you’ll want to clear some time and just sit and read it. You won’t want to put it down. But be warned, it’s like riding a roller coaster of emotions.”
