Olivia frowned at him. “Will anyone hear us out here?”
“Nope. The last residents that called this area home moved out probably fifteen years ago. I’ll see what I can find around here to use as targets.”
Victor went back and forth around the mostly empty house and scrounged a few knick knacks and items for Olivia to shoot at. He found a box of empties and they rattled as he carried them out to the back of the house. After five minutes of setting up, he called Olivia to come out and start practicing. He lined up her body to show her how to take the perfect shot. And showed her how to aim. After ten to fifteen moderately successful attempts, she started to hit the old beer bottles with some degree of accuracy. After she had lined up a few shots to Victor’s satisfaction, he nodded and held up his hand.
“I think you can stop now, you’re aim is getting much better. Good enough to suit our purposes, anyway. I don’t see us doing much long range shooting anyway. And if everything goes according to plan, you won’t have to use it at all. Let’s hope for that, Liv’s,” Victor said.
Olivia let him take the gun from her hand. She wrapped her arms around his burly shoulders and started kissing him, using her tongue to feel for his, and melding with it. Victor took her in, and kissed her back hard for an extended moment. Then he gently pushed her off him.
He sighed and said, “I’d like to right now, Livvie, but we should get going. We’re so close to finishing this thing forever. Once we’re done, I’ll make sure we have all the time in the universe, just for us. But the endgame comes first.”
Olivia simpered, “What if we don’t have another chance? What if this is the last one we have? I’m worried, Victor. You know they will probably be looking for us to make the next move. They probably expect us to contact him at some point.”
Victor put forth a convincing story. “Don’t worry. I doubt Rick has 24 hour surveillance on him. I’m going to see if we can trail him and snatch him at a convenient place. Ride in, grab him and hightail it out of there. It will be quick and clean and all over in less than an hour. And no one will be the wiser, until it’s too late and we are heading along the coast on the scenic route to the border.”
Olivia pouted a little, and moved away from him. For both their sakes, she hoped he was right.
҉҉҉
As usual, Olivia had the last word. Once they made their way back into the abandoned house, she practically pounced on him again. She wanted him, hard, fast and dirty. Never one to really turn down a free opportunity for some hot sex, he pinned her to the wall and stripped off her pants and snapped down her underwear. Unstrapping his belt, he quickly shifted his hard shaft poking out of his boxers and forced it up past the wet soft folds into the warm needy channel they guarded from the outside. He groaned as he felt himself slip inside her. She raised one leg up and grabbed at the creases of his shirt on his back. He relentlessly pounded into her, letting the interior of her body mold, hold fast and release the rod that slammed into her in quickening rhythmic waves. She grunted and rotated her hips roughly into him. He gripped the haunch of her upraised thigh and pumped up harder than ever into her, revelling in the slick heat of her. His heart raced to keep up with his body as he strained and pushed into her with a sleek momentum. She pushed her head against the wall and tilted her pelvis into him further, letting him use her as he wished. She could hear from his short stifled breaths that he was getting so close. Rolling her lower half into him, she vaulted forcefully into him. She didn’t want to be left out. She aimed herself so that he pummeled her core to the spot that would make her contort internally and suddenly detonate in an orgasmic reaction on impact. She gave a stifled groan and gasped when Victor gripped her more tightly, lanced up into her sharply one last time and felt the rush of his climax leak out in hot rivulets down her thighs.
He patted her playfully on the bum. “Well dearest heart, I hope I gave you what you wanted. Because the road ahead could be much bumpier. But for now, I hope that satisfied you.”
҉҉҉
Ten minutes later, they were on the road again. One last confrontation, and it would all be over with for good. Olivia was starting to feel really tense. She had a bad vibe hitting her when she spied the familiar buildings on the outskirts of her town. But she knew it was too late to go back now. She was in it with him for the long haul. Victor swerved and moved his bike through the haunts he used to visit with Rick. Hoping to catch a break and see if he could find him and secretly make a grab for him. He had no such luck.
Victor knew he had to stay away from the Lucifer’s Breed clubhouse. The police were probably watching it and too many people would be inside. Victor decided he would go to a parking lot in the less policed area of town and get himself a car. Then he could hang around close to Rick’s house and see if anyone was watching it. He steered his bike towards an old industrial area. He noted some of the hollowed out buildings and found a few still had vehicles parked in the lot. He spotted an old rusty greenish van parked in the distance. Perfect. He headed towards it and looked inside. It was hard to see through the mildly tinted glass, but it looked like it had not been driven in some time. He could just barely see a thin layer of dust coating the dash and the top of the cup holders. He reached inside one of the duffel bags and took out an arrangement of fine tools shrouded in a folded black envelope of fabric. He grabbed one or two of them and used them to open the door, ducking under the window to escape detection from the building, in case someone was inside. The rest of the parking lot was devoid of people. Forcing the door open, Victor then took off his helmet and plopped it in the passenger’s seat. He bent down under the steering wheel where he quickly exposed and started tugging at a mass of wires. Not a minute later, Olivia heard the start and roar of the engine burst into life.
Victor turned to her and grinned wildly at her. “We’re in business,” he said.
He hopped inside and slid the side door open. She heard him root around in the back for a few minutes.
Victor popped out his head from the side door and spoke with her. “Looks like we can’t fit the bike back here. I can’t do anything about the seats. If I had the right equipment, I’d take them out and put the bike in the van, like the last one, but there isn’t time. We’ll have to leave it here for now and come back for it later if we can.”
Olivia had mixed feelings about the bike. She wasn’t quite used to riding it yet, and disliked carrying the luggage around her back, but she was just starting to enjoy the rush it gave her when he bent into a steep turn. Olivia would squeeze into him and hug Victor hard at his sides to keep from feeling like she was falling off the bike. And that part was nice.
Victor gestured to her helmet and he helped her take it off. It felt good to have it removed. After a while it started to feel like a bowling ball was strapped to her head. Victor tossed the helmet in the back and took the second duffel bag from her. He moved his helmet in the back to keep the other company and unlocked the passenger door. Olivia circled around and got in the hotwired van beside him.
Victor put the van in drive and started out of the parking lot, leaving the bike to sit by the few forgotten idle vehicles that remained. He spoke, “Game on. Let’s finish this Liv’s. We’re almost there, babes.”
҉҉҉
Victor headed to Rick’s house and did a random pass by his place. It looked like no one in particular was watching it. No unfamiliar vehicles were parked in the streets. No strange people were loitering about near the sidewalks. And there was a bike parked in Rick’s driveway, parallel to an SUV sitting beside it. Looked like Rick and the family were home. Rick did a second turn around the house to make a final decision. The street looked abandoned. No traffic and no people walking their dogs. Most were probably at work. Victor made a choice. He was going in.
Victor growled low at Olivia, like a lion that trapped its prey. “Lock and load, Livvie. I think our master planner is chilling at home. We are going to pay him a house visit that will be in his mind until the end of his days.
Which may be sooner than he thinks.”
Nerves jumbled up in Olivia’s head. For the first time since she started going on Victor’s personal home visits, she got very apprehensive. Something just felt ‘off’ about the whole situation. She almost felt like turning and running in the other direction.
Victor instructed her, “I’m going to park the van as close to the side entrance of the house as possible. To block the door from street view. You can get out with the duffel and stand beside me in front of the door, by the wall on the other side of the door frame. Just in case things get intense.”
“What do you think is going to happen?” Olivia asked nervously.
He answered her, “Rick may be prepared for us. He may have seen the van pull up and may be suspicious. You have to be prepared for anything. I need you to get your gun ready in hand. And stand well away from the door. Just in case he starts shooting at us from behind it. Bullets have a harder time getting through brick.”
A flurry of nerves flew through her again. For the first time, she started to feel really freaked out. That bad vibe again.
“I don’t feel so great about this Vic. For some reason, I’m starting to get a bit scared,” admitted Olivia.
“Don’t be. No one knows we’re here. This will all be done before you know it and we’ll be sharing a nice maple whisky on the rocks in the mountains somewhere. And after this is over, I’ll try to make all those girly fantasies you’ve ever had come true.” He looked her deeply into the eyes and held her head in his cupped hands. His voice lowered further and she could hear the emotional gravel tone inflected in it. “After this is over, you’re the next most important thing in my life. My next quest. I’ll dedicate my life to winning your heart all over again with each new day.”
Olivia choked back a nervous sob and nodded silently. She knew this man meant every word he said. The both got out of the van and walked towards the door. Olivia had her hand closely by the butt end of the gun, ready in case Victor needed it. Victor took a huge breath as he stood in front of the door. Then he raised a foot and started kicking the door in. He bashed it several times with his heel near the hinges and made some leeway. The bottom hinge gave way and he started in bashing near the lock. Pretty soon, the whole door caved into the house. Olivia could hear yelling from inside the house. It sounded like the voices were coming from upstairs.
Olivia heard heavy steps bounding from the stairs downward to meet them. Victor quickly entered the cover of the house and had his gun at the ready, pointing it at the person who was coming to meet them. It was Rick, with the blonde Olivia recognized as Rick’s lady behind him. Olivia could see small feet hanging out at the top of the stairs. She heard the lady behind Rick scream as she saw the gun in Victor’s hand and stop in sudden fright in the middle of the staircase. The look of surprise and anger hit Rick’s face as he recognized Victor, and saw the gun pointed at him. He turned his head slightly sideways, never looking away from the muzzle of the gun.
“Jayden, I want you to stay upstairs! Carlie, make sure he doesn’t come down,” he said.
Olivia squinted harder at the top of the staircase. Her eyes were getting adjusted to the dark interior of the house. A small boy hung about the top of the stairs.
“Daddy, what’s going on? Who’s the man and the lady?” the boy asked.
The woman spoke up, “Jayden, I want you to go to your room now!!”
The boy didn’t listen. He looked at the two strangers, transfixed on them. They had entered his home, and his parents were acting funny already to them. And the door was open in a weird way.
“Mommy, what happened to the door?” he asked.
The woman spoke again. “Jayden, for the last time, Go To Your Room!”
The boy walked away from the line of sight, moping.
Rick looked hard at Victor, and then the gun. “Victor, what are you doing here? At my house? Threatening me and my family. You are a part of that family. I don’t understand. What is the meaning of this?”
Victor spoke low, and malevolently. “You betrayed us. Shane told me the whole story. About how you sold us out to the Iscariots. You brought us into that bad deal. And you expected us to take the fall. I’m here as a promise kept to my brother. As I held him to me and I saw with the pain in his eyes the moment he knew he was taking his last dying breath. That pain you caused. And I’m here to take the proper payment that is due for that.”
“Your brother was no saint,” Rick growled.
Victor replied angrily, “He didn’t deserve that. And neither did I. I thought of you as the decent father I never had. At first, I couldn’t believe what that bastard Shane told me. I thought you could never pull such terrible shit on us. But seeing you here, and not even denying it, I can see he could be in the right.”
Rick replied, still staring down the gun that was pointed at his face. He wanted to calm Victor down before things got really out of hand. This fucker had broken into their house, and was threatening him and the safety of his family. He had to find a way to make him stand down.
Rick toned down the growl in his voice. He began again in a gentler tone. “I have nothing against you, Victor. You were always considered family to me. And you were always loyal, to a fault. But your brother was another story.”
Victor argued, “I’m not saying Troy didn’t make mistakes Rick. He owned up to them. But that wasn’t good enough for you. You had to go and waste his life, just for your own petty revenge and self-gain.”
Rick tried to talk him down further. “It wasn’t petty revenge Victor. Your brother got my sister drunk and took advantage of her. It scarred her. And you know he could never set that right again. But with you, you always defended him, whether he was deserving of it or not. You always protected him. You could never see Troy for the prick that he was. And when that damned prick damaged my sister, I wanted him in on that bad deal. I had no bad feelings about you, and I didn’t want you to go and be part of what went down. But with the both of you, where one went, the other would follow. You were just unfortunate collateral damage.”
Olivia turned to look at Victor. Confusion entered her face. This snippet of information was news to her.
Rick saw the doubt cloud her face. He smiled at her and shot out, “Didn’t tell you about that, did he?”
Victor opened his mouth to say something, when he heard the wail of a police siren. Victor gestured to Olivia to peek out of the window. She looked outside. Four police cruisers were parked outside of Rick’s house, lights flashing. A loud voice over a megaphone started droning. Inside the house, the sounds were muffled by the walls of the house. Olivia pressed her ear closer to the glass pane as she hung out safely by the corner of the wall. She concentrated to listen to what they had to say.
Olivia started in alarm. “Victor, they know we’re here! They’ve asked us to drop whatever we have, come out and walk outside. What should we do?”
Victor turned and glared at Rick. “We’re going to stay awhile and chill with Rick. I don’t think I’m done chatting with him yet.”
Olivia wailed, to no one in particular. “How did they find us so fast?” She looked around the house like a trapped animal. Fight or flight was beginning to hit her right in the gut.
Rick smiled calmly at them. “Drone camera on the neighbor’s roof. They were watching for you the whole time, waiting for you to show up. You two have been quite popular on tv, lately. Like the new biker trash version of Bonny and Clyde. And they figured there was a really good chance you wanted to come and find me again. But you would be looking around for cars or loitering people skulking around my neighborhood. Thanks to technology, you can put a secret camera anywhere, nowadays.”
Victor grumbled under his breath. “Goddammit.”
Upstairs, everyone heard the wail of what sounded like a young child. The boy poked his head out from the hiding spot behind the wall.
“Mommy, Brody is crying again,” he said.
The woman slowly inched her way up the stai
rs, her eyes wide on the gun that was still held in front of her husband’s head. As she realized Victor was letting her go up the stairs, she hurried her pace and disappeared behind the upstairs hallway. The crying faltered, and then stopped. The boy quickly disappeared behind the wall again. The muffled sound of loudspeakers entered the fray again. Olivia was pretty sure the police were announcing they wanted the pair of them to come out of the house. She ignored it; the tension in the house they were now in more than held her full attention. Olivia wondered how this was all going to go down. From her grim outlook at the moment, it looked like there wasn’t going to be much of a happy ending for her.
Rick smiled at them again. “You better listen to them. There’s no way out of this for you. It’s better for you both to just walk out there, and give yourselves up. Whatever time you do, it will be reduced for good behavior. And I’m sure you’ll get away with most of it. What was mentioned on the news was mostly circumstantial evidence. And that will not hold in court.”
Victor shook his head. “No. Not yet. I’m not done here,” he said.
Out of the corner of his eye, Victor caught movement at the top of the stairs. Victor cringed and instinctively ducked as a loud bang ran through the house. He felt the sharp whizz of something whip by his head. Olivia looked up and saw Carlie with a gun, aiming at Victor. The first one missed. She was apparently, a very poor shot. Victor twisted his position to aim at her side profile, quickly aimed his gun and shot her in the hand holding the gun. It dropped out of her hand and clattered down the stairs as the pain burned through the tissue that was singed around the bullet. She cried out and held her injured hand with the other.
