About the Author
J. A. McLachlan was born in Toronto, Canada. She is the author of a short story collection, CONNECTIONS, published by Pandora Press and two College textbooks on Professional Ethics, published by Pearson-Prentice Hall. But science fiction is her first love, a genre she has been reading all her life, and The Occasional Diamond Thief is her second published Science Fiction novel.
Here’s what readers are saying about J. A. McLachlan’s first science fiction novel, Walls of Wind:
“There’s a new master of truly alien SF, and her name is J. A. McLachlan. THE WALLS OF WIND is doubtless THE debut novel of the year.” – Robert J. Sawyer, Hugo- and Aurora –winning science fiction author
“If you read no other “alien” authors this year, don’t miss WALLS OF WIND.” – Bookreporter
“O. S. Card got into the alien hive mind in the latter books of his “Ender” series. Octavia Butler did the same in her “Wild Seed”. No other writer I know of comes close to J. A. McLachlan depicting the thoughts and emotions of two truly alien species and their society as well as the environment in which they live.” – SFWriter
“This book is a fascinating look at what it takes to learn compassion and understanding of those different from ourselves. It is beautifully told from different points of view, and enforces the idea that everyone is of value. I highly recommend it. ” – D. Warde
