Something About Milan: A Complicated Love Story Page 20

by Dior, London

“Put Melanie on the phone please.” I asked, looking at Wise. I passed him the phone as she picked up.

Wise and Melanie’s relationship was amazing. I listened as they spoke. He loved my baby with everything in him. Yet, I was selfish enough to abandon her and miss out on everything that was important. I mean, I was around, but not as a mother should. I had so much making up to do with her.

“How is she? Tell her that I love her.” I instructed Wise. He put his finger up, signaling me to wait.

“What we got to talk about?” Wise’s facial expression hardened, alarming me. I hoped that Melanie wasn’t telling him that my mom or Amir did something to her.

“Yeah, we can make that happen. We got a lot of shit that needs to be put on the table anyways. I’ll talk to Carter and have Milan call you back. Can you put my daughter back on the phone?”

Wise and Melanie chatted for a few minutes before hanging up. He looked at me, with a confused expression. “That was your stepfather. He wants to meet up later today.”

“Why though? Aren’t we moving away in two days? I think we should just let sleeping dogs lay.”

“Nah, I think we need to talk. You’re my family now, which makes him connected to me by default. I don’t need that extra tension every time we’re around each other. Your mom and dad need to know that this shit forever, whether they like me or not.”

I just nodded. I still didn’t get a chance to tell her that I was moving, and I honestly wasn’t even worried about that anymore. I was more concerned about the meeting between all three men.

  Chapter Sixty-One

  Selena

Carter was still acting like he had a little attitude with me from the day before. His stubborn ass made me sick sometimes, and I was glad that Wise came and took him away. They had gone somewhere and quite frankly, I didn’t care where.

“You better stay here, too.” I mimicked him. He was barking off orders like I was a little girl. Was he forgetting that I’m the same broad that was right next to him, being his Bonnie?

Milan chuckled, snapping me from my thoughts. “Are you little mad or big mad?” I rolled my eyes at her ass too. Her snitching ass was the reason that Carter was mad at me. If she didn’t want to ride, all she had to do was sit at the hotel.

“Oh I’m big mad at you and him. Both of y’all asses gets on my nerves.” I looked over at Sasha, who was picking at her nails. “And you to Boo Boo Kitty, I’m disappointed with yo’ ass too.”

Sasha looked up. She rolled her eyes but didn’t say anything. I wanted to say fuck her, but for some reason she was like a bad ass child that you knew wasn’t a bad kid and you didn’t want to give up on.

Milan kissed her teeth, and I decided to fuck with Sasha. “Why you so quiet heffa’? You know I still love you ‘cause you family.”

“Whatever, I’m not thinking about neither one of you broads.”

“And I’m not thinking about you either! Broad!” Milan quickly shot back.

Sasha let out a sigh. “See, let me go back to my room. I don’t know why I even came down here. Y’all not gone stress me or my baby out!”

I think I saw Milan cringe. “Fuck you and that baby! The verdict is still out!”

Sasha smiled. “You wish! I was throwing this pussy at him every night. It’s Wise’s baby for sure, step momma.”

Milan stood up and lunged toward Sasha. I began to crack up with laughter as I blocked her path. “Unt uhh, you bitches not gone do this. Sit yo’ extra hype ass down Milan, and chill out before she tap that ass, Sasha.”

“Yeah, she better chill before I stomp that baby out of her ass.”

“Whatever,” Sasha waved Milan off, checking her phone. She looked up. “Oh my God! Why does this nigga keep calling me? I thought Wise and Carter were going to handle him.”

My face lit up. “Answer it. I still want to handle his ass.” I turned to Milan. “And take yo’ snitchin’ ass home if you don’t want to go.”

The call ended before Sasha could answer. However, a text message immediately came through for her to meet him at some address in an hour. Sasha shook her head. “Unt uhh. I don’t trust him.”

“Well, I trust myself and my nine. We’re going to meet up with him. He’s going to get his ass handled and I’m going to fly back to Atlanta in peace, knowing that no one is after my man. Now let’s get this going. Milan, didn’t you pick up your car when you went to get your stuff?”

She nodded. “Well let’s go heffa’.” I reached into my suite case and grabbed my nine. “Both of them were looking at me all crazy. They must didn’t love Wise as much as I loved Carter. He was already talking crazy about how he felt he had death on him. I wasn’t about to let his intuitions become a reality.

I looked around and turned up my nose at the raggedy building that he had us pull up to. It looked as if it was leaning and the chipped paint and plastic covered windows had me second guessing my decision.

I shook my head. “This nigga on some foul shit.” I scanned the deserted parking lot. Besides a black Charger and two vans with deep tints, no one was around, and the neighborhood was so run down that if we screamed, I didn’t think anyone would help.

“Pull off, Milan. This is bullshit.” I demanded.

Just as Milan began to back up, the two vans charged toward us, causing my heart to beat faster. “Hurry up, bitch!” I yelled, as we sped up the street. No matter how fast Milan went, they were still on our ass, though.

“Oh my God! I knew we shouldn’t have came. I told you I didn’t trust him!” Sasha yelled.

  Boom!

The driver of the first van crashed into us, causing the car to swerve. We almost flew into oncoming traffic. Our car barely missed colliding into an ugly beat up Neon.

“Can one of you bitches call Wise or Carter? Damn!” Milan shouted, making a sharp left. The van was still on our ass.

Sasha pulled out her phone and began to dial numbers. But fuck that, I reached into my purse and pulled out my nine. When I looked to the window, the driver of the second van was aligned with our car. He was just about to ram into us, but I raised the gun up and pointed it directly at his head. His scary ass slammed on his brakes, causing a crash.

“Shit, Wise isn’t answering.” Sasha panicked.

“Because it’s you! Selena grab my phone and toss it to her.” Milan ordered, driving the car like a professional race car driver. I guess when you’re in a fucked up situation, it would have you with skills you never knew you had.

That’s when shots rang out. I heard as the air left the tires. The car began to fishtail out of control and I swear I saw my life flash before my eyes as we ran straight into a parked car on the side of the road.

The girls were panicking, I wanted to stay calm, but as the figure advancing towards my door with his gun drawn came closer, I felt my lungs begin to tighten. It felt like I couldn’t breathe. I mean, I started thinking about Carter, my baby, and even death. Hell no! I couldn’t die like this.

  Chapter Sixty-Two

  Wise

“So why you was up at the hospital then?” Carter asked Amir. We had been sitting down talking to him for the past hour. I was surprised that we were able to have a real conversation. There was definitely some shit in the game.

“Because my momma been there for the past month. She in a coma.” Amir answered. “Look Young Blood, I’m too old and getting too much money for that petty shit. We all fuck up. I wasn’t supposed to be fucking with my partner’s wife, but the shit happened.” He turned to me. “And my problem with you was that you put my baby girl in that bullshit and it went to my wife. A man supposed to be the protector, so any nigga messing with Milan supposed to protect her. That’s my baby girl.”

I nodded, agreeing with him as a call came through from Sasha. I let that shit go straight to voicemail. She had no reason to call me. However, when Milan’s phone number flashed across the screen, I knew something was up. I answered on the second ring and a
ll I heard was screaming.

“Hello?” I yelled into the phone in a panic. Carter leaned forward in his seat and looked at me.

“Catfish! Wise help us!” I heard Sasha yell. Then I heard nothing. The line never hung up, but I couldn’t make out the noise. All I knew was that I needed to get to my baby!

“What the fuck is going on?” Carter asked.

I sighed. “Shit, I don’t know. Sasha yelled Catfish and for us to help. He got them, bro. I’ll kill his ass.”

I hopped up from the table, jogging to my car. Both Amir and Carter followed. “Do he got Milan too?” Amir questioned, pulling out his phone. He dialed a few numbers, then pressed it to his ear.

“What’s up Young Buck.” He spoke into the phone. Him and the caller went back and forth before ending the call. Then he focused on me, “Alright, follow me. I got it.” We all hopped in our cars and pulled off. All I saw was blood. I swear that I now knew what Carter meant when he said that he felt death on him. Somebody was gone die fucking with what’s mine!

  Milan

“What do you want from us,” I whispered, as a tear fell from my eyes. The men in the van had made us get out and now we were in an ugly, dingy basement, tied up. If I could, I would have killed Selena’s Kill Bill ass myself! I knew I should have stayed back at the hotel.

The look in Catfish’s eyes was of pure resentment. Fear filled my whole body. I knew that my pleas were falling on deaf ears. “Sasha knows what I want.” He rubbed her cheek and she snatched away. “I bet y’all didn’t even know she’s been helping me find Carter for how long?” He chuckled. “How long has it been Sasha? Ten years?”

“Bitch, you did what?” Selena tried lunging at Sasha, but the ropes around her wrists wouldn’t allow her to move.

“Calm down before you hurt the baby, pretty lady. She wasn’t no help anyways. The bitch is as dumb as a box of rocks. How you with a man for all them years and never met his family? Chances are, he’s just not that in to you!” By now, he was dead in my face, he stared me down. The look in his eyes was menacing.

“And you, I guess the apple don’t fall too far from the tree, hoe. You had my fucking cousin killed just like yo’ momma had ya’ daddy killed. Bitch, I should slit your throat right now.”

The tears began to fall harder; my chest was hurting. I shook my head, “No, my momma didn’t have my daddy killed, he was robbed. And Jabari killed himself!”

“Nah, yo’ momma had that nigga killed. She couldn’t take his cheating. Why you think she got so fucked up after it happened? Why do you think she started pulling away from you? I think I should know. I actually enjoyed slitting the ma’fucka’s throat. He was a cocky son-of-a-bitch.” He used the back of his hand to wipe the tears that wouldn’t stop falling. I wanted to puke! My mother took my daddy away from me and allowed the blame to fall on Carter! I hated her!

“Leave her alone!” Selena shouted. “That’s just foul.”

“See, you must be the tough one. It’s always a tough one.” He approached Selena. “Make me leave her alone. What you gone do?”

“Fuck you!” She gritted. “I swear, when Carter catches up to you, he’s going to fuck you up.”

Catfish hauled off and smacked the shit out of her. Selena’s head jerked back and I hated I couldn’t help. “Just be quiet Selena!” I begged.

“No, fuck him!” She growling, spitting. It landed less than an inch away from his foot.

Catfish cocked his head to the side and began, beating the shit out of Selena. I tried pulling away. I tried helping! But I couldn’t do anything. All I could do was cry harder as I watched her body limp into an unconscious state. The only reason that he stopped was because his phone rang.

He smiled. “We got action!” Then he signaled for two raggedy looking men to keep an eye on us. My heart went out to Sasha, he didn’t have to do her like that!

  Carter

This nigga Amir told me to be calm, but as some lame ass nigga snatched the door open, then his flunky snatched me up with their guns drawn, I felt like a fuckin’ fool! I glared back at Amir and the ma’fucka had his gun drawn at us too.

I fell into his trap, and allowed him to lead us straight into some bullshit. I better not get away from this alive. I was going to make sure that he got it the worst.

We were led into the back room and I swear, when I saw Selena laid up in that chair, all bruised and bloody, I went nuts. I was gone kill everybody! Well, until the cold steel smashed against the back of my head, causing me to stagger.

“Calm down, fuck boy. She good. She just got a few bruises.” Catfish chuckled. Then he added, “My nigga Amir, you came through! I keep my word Unc. Milan straight. But these other ma’fuckas got to go.”

“So you set us up ma’fucka?” Wise asked Amir in disbelief.

Amir gave us this funny look, and I didn’t know what the fuck it meant. He just eased us closer toward Catfish where there were two more seats waiting.

I didn’t even see it coming. Once we were close enough, Amir smashed Catfish over the head, grabbing him by his neck. I whipped my pistol out, and so did Wise. Catfish’s little minions didn’t know what the fuck to do.

“You punk ass nigga! Do you know how much confusion you caused?” Amir gritted, choking Catfish with his gun to his forehead. Both Wise and I still had our guns pointed at the two minions, and they had their guns pointed back at us.

“Nah yo’ wife set you up! Ask her! My brother was never supposed to die in the crossfire! That bitch Carter killed my brother, then punk ass Wise killed my cousin! Fuck all y’all.” Catfish tried, wiggling loose. But, Amir put a bullet in his head, catching everybody off guard. I immediately followed suit, busting minion number 1 and minion number 2’s head open with two shots.

Once they were down, I ran to Selena’s side, untying her. Her body fell into my arms and my heart sank. I wanted to kill her retarted ass. I told her to stay put! If anything happened to her or my baby, I was going to find a way to bring her back to life and kill her again.

I didn’t say anything to anyone. I lifted her up and carried her out of the building. I drove, so had the car keys. I left them behind to get my baby to the hospital. They all could ride with Amir.

  Epilogue

  A year later…

  Milan

Atlanta sure wasn’t Detroit, but I loved my new home. After everything that I went through a year ago, I finally had peace in my life. Wise was the perfect provider, husband, and father to our four kids. Yes, I said four! Turns out, once Sasha realized that Wise really wasn’t fucking with her, and we got married, she dropped the baby off and we haven’t heard from the bitch since!

That was fine by me. See, a woman couldn’t ask for a better man than Wise. I said that I wanted a man just like my daddy, and I got him. As much as it hurt me, I still haven’t found the strength to talk to my mother. She interacted with the kids and visited them. But I barely said two words to her. She tried apologizing a million times; sorry doesn’t bring my daddy back!

Killing my dad was the worst thing that she could have done to me and I knew that it was going to take time to get over it. That’s why I hurt for Jabari Jr. I never wanted him to know the truth. He still asked about his father. I allowed his grandmother supervised visits until I could trust Jabari Sr’s family again, but that was it.

On the other hand, Wise and Amir has become close. He moved to Atlanta with us once everything transpired. For five months, he left my mother, but he couldn’t stay away from her. They were made for each other. I couldn’t deny that. Maybe one day we would be a happy family again.

“Are you ready baby?” Wise asked, interrupting my train of thought. I smiled at him.

“Yes babe. Are all the kids packed up?”

“You know it, why? You trying to get a quickie in right quick while they’re in the car?” He smiled at me deviously, while grabbing at his manhood.

I chuckled. “Gone somewhere. Ain’t no
body trying to get none of that little turtle.”

“Little?” He asked with a raised brow, snatching me up, causing me to giggle.

“Stopppp, Wise. You gone make us late for your nephew’s birthday party!” I squealed.

“Damn, why you get my shit all hard then?”

“Me? Yo’ ass the one that started talking all freaky!”

“But you be the one looking all good. Got them tight ass pants on with that fat ass.” He smacked it before placing me on the ground.

I rolled my eyes, knowing that Selena was going to be mad that we were late for Carter Jr’s party. I guess I was supposed to help host since I was the god mommy.

I smiled, Carter Jr truly was a miracle baby with his jolly ass. She almost lost him the day that she was beaten and had to give birth in an emergency C-section. Carter nearly went insane.

He put Selena through hell for a long time for going to meet up with Catfish. I think he was more mad at the fact that she scared him. But even they were the perfect happy couple now, about to give birth to baby number two.

Wise and Don stayed arguing over who would be the god father of the second baby. Don argued that Wise was already uncle, and Wise argued that Don was having his own baby to be daddy to. Turns out Adonnis ended up falling for some loud mouth, gossiping chick named Mellissa. I thought it was cute. All three of them turned out to be good hardworking men that just got caught in the streets.

They opened up a club and started their own liquor line together, and business was thriving. We didn’t want for nothing, and the men made sure of that. We were living the dream life.

The block was crowded, with cars lined up to attend Carter Jr’s party. They always had to overdo things. A one year old did not need police supervision, with as many police cars that were parked around Carter’s house, you would think the president was there.

I shook my head as Wise found a parking spot and we all piled out of Wise’s truck. Well, actually Wise ran ahead of us, leaving me to gather the kids. The front door opened and the police were bringing Carter out handcuffed.
