Chapter One: Frederick “Ricky AK” Montana

“Wait, Ricky. Let me talk to you really fast.” My grandma gripped my arm.

  “Aight.”

She led me to the kitchen as Draylah went upstairs to get the shower ready. I didn’t know what the fuck my grandma wanted to talk about, but my mind was on eating some pussy, so she needed to hurry the fuck up.

I saw my phone was on the counter when I walked in, and when I hit the home button, I saw a text. I went inside to read it.

+1 (310) 555 - 8944: Hey I’m ready to hang out again whenever you are. Draylah won’t have to know. I miss you.

I didn’t know who the fuck was texting me from these unsaved numbers, but every time I blocked that number, they’d text me from a new one, so I knew it was some kind of burner app. I didn’t give my number out, especially to these hoes, and especially since I’d been with Draylah, so I was stumped like a muthafucka.

“Are you still investigating what happened to Rachel?” my grandmother inquired.

“You know I am. And if you gon’ try to convince me not to, then just stop talking right now because I’m not gon’ listen. If you won’t give me what the fuck I need, then I’m gon’ get it elsewhere.”

I’d been off my grandmother, but after she found out Bryen died and was all depressed and shit, I felt like I had to forgive her somewhat for not helping me. For some reason, she loved the hell out of that bitch ass nigga.

“Ricky, I’m gonna tell you this so you can stop before you get yourself killed. Detective Atticus Martín is after you because you are sticking your nose into what happened to your mother.”

“So what! He was just the detective on the fucking case. What does me looking into it have to do with him unless he didn’t do his fucking job right?”

“Because he killed her, Frederick, and is willing to kill anyone who tries to bring that truth to the forefront.”

My heart stopped for a few moments, I swear, as my eyes surveyed my grandmother’s. I could tell from the look on her face that she didn’t want to say what she’d said, and after hearing the shit, I kind of wished she hadn’t.

  “For what? Why would he—”

  “He’s your father, that’s why.”

“How the hell is he my father when he’s… he’s at least ten years older than my mama would have been, and she—”

“Ricky, he is your father.” My grandma exhaled. “Your mother met him after she witnessed one of her friends get shot, and he was one of the detectives that showed up to the scene. Somehow, she intrigued him, even though she was just 14 years old and he was a 24-year-old new detective. I thought he was just being nice to her, until she asked if he could come over for dinner one night. That was when your grandfather and I realized this was an inappropriate relationship. Your grandfather, being who he was, threatened Atticus, and basically let him know he’d better stay away or he would kick his ass; you know how he is.

And we thought he did, but when Rachel came up pregnant down the line, we knew she’d fooled us. We let him help with the baby, you, especially because he provided financial assistance. And then, she got pregnant again with Bryen. I guess after him, their relationship wasn’t so fun anymore, so he didn’t want to be with her, or be a father to you guys.

At that time, Rachel explained to us that he had a wife and a son. The last day I saw her, she told me she was gonna tell his wife about you, her, and Bryen, and let his co-workers know he’d been sleeping with her well before she was eighteen. And I guess she let him know that too, because he had her killed that very evening.”

As my grandmother talked, I had to sit my ass down. The shit she was telling me had my blood boiling like crazy. I already hated that muthafucka, but now I despised his ass even more.

“How do you even know this?”

“It was obvious to your grandfather and I, and when we approached Atticus saying we knew and would tell, he threatened us. He said he would kill you, Bryen, and me. Your grandfather and I decided that it was best to protect you two.”

“Why the fuck didn’t y’all tell the police? Y’all were scared of that bitch ass nigga?” I barked, shooting up out of the stool chair.

“Yes, Ricky! Yes, we were! He murdered our daughter, and when we confronted him about it, he wasn’t even the least bit scared or remorseful! I had no doubt that he’d kill you and your brother, as well as myself. And I am sorry, I didn’t want to risk you guys’ life over this!”

I ran my hands down my face out of irritation.

“How the fuck y’all let her date this nigga? I don’t get it!” It was so much shit I was mad about, making my thoughts become jumbled.

“I didn’t let her do anything, Frederick! Her father and I tried to stop it, and we thought we did! When you were born, we figured we didn’t want to keep you away from your father! Had I known he was a married man and just toying with Rachel, I wouldn’t have even let him be around you or Bryen! You want to be mad, be mad with him, Ricky, but not me!”

  “Get out,” I stated calmly.

  “Excuse me, young man?”

“I said get yo’ ass out my spot. I need to think, and I can’t do that shit with you here.”

“Fine. I will leave. But I am begging you to please leave this alone. It’s been over twenty years, Ricky, and I need you to let this go. I do not want you going into some deadly war with this man who is crazy and has connections within the police force. He can murder you and cover it up.”

“And I can do the same muthafuckin’ thing.” I stared down into her eyes, and for a moment, her mouth just stayed slightly open as she gazed up at me.

  “Ricky, don—”

“I thought I said to get out.”

Inhaling and exhaling heavily, my grandmother left the kitchen and went to grab her shit from the den. I stood in the foyer, watching her walk across it, and she just looked at me with glazed eyes before making it to the door. Once out, I locked that shit behind her, went to take Lily to her room, and then jogged up the stairs where Draylah was.

When I got into the dimly lit bedroom, I plopped down on the right side of our bed and just dropped my face into my hands. I couldn’t believe the bullshit my grandmother had just fucking told me. I knew she’d kept that shit a secret because she ain’t want me out here trying to seek retribution, but fuck that. That stupid muthafucka had gotten away with murking my fucking mother long enough. And what made shit worse was that he was Bryen’s and my got damn father, so he was close as hell to the shit that he was doing. The nigga wasn’t gon’ be a father to us, so the least he could have done with his nappy headed ass was let us have our muthafuckin’ mama.

“I’m offended.” Draylah’s soft voice pulled me from my thoughts.

  “Why?” I lifted my head.

“Because I’ve been standing here with an open robe for a good while now, and you haven’t paid me any attention. Don’t tell me you’re not attracted to me anymore.” She half smiled as s
he neared me, straddling my lap on the bed.

Biting my lip at the sight of her body and the feel of her soft skin under my hands, I replied, “Nah, you know I could never not be attracted to yo’ sexy ass.” I kissed her collarbone as I gripped her bare ass in my hands.

She held the sides of my face and tilted my head back before pressing her lips against mine. We began to suck one another’s lips, but after a little bit, she stopped, letting her eyes search mine while wearing a look of confusion.

“What’s wrong with you?” she questioned.

  “Nothing. I’m good, baby.”

“Frederick, I can tell that you’re not even that into this.”

“Yeah I am. You feel that shit.” I humped upward subtly so that she could feel how hard my dick was.

“Yeah, but that’s just because you’re a horny freak, Ricky. You’re not into the kiss.” She pecked me again but very slowly.

“Y’all females pay too much muthafuckin’ attention to bullshit.”

“You’re absolutely right. So either something is on your mind, or you’re cheating on me, and if it’s the latter, I’m killing you and that bitch.”

I chuckled lowly before it subsided. I wanted to keep this shit to myself, give myself more time to process it all, but Draylah wasn’t gon’ let that shit happen. She knew me too well, I was realizing, and on top of that, I ain’t like us keeping secrets between one another, especially one of this fucking caliber.

“That Atticus muthafucka murdered my mama—”

  “What the fuck?”

“And that’s not it.” I snickered angrily. “He’s my dad; me and Bryen’s dad. He did the shit because my mama threatened to tell his colleagues and his wife that he was fucking an underage girl and had two outside kids.” For a moment, I looked off as Draylah’s hands rested on the sides of my face.

“I don’t even know what to say, baby.” Draylah kissed my forehead before locking her arms around my neck to hug me, so I tightened my grip around her body. She then kissed the top of my head before saying, “I guess both of our mothers got ripped away by people that were supposed to love them.”

After a brief moment of silence, I replied, “I ain’t realize just how much we had in common.”

Pulling back to look down into my face, she half smiled. “Why do you think God brought us together?”

“‘Cause you got some good ass pussy, and God knows that’s my favorite thing.” I bit my lip, making her giggle softly.

“No, nasty.” She grinned. “He brought me to you so I could turn a beast into a man. And then he brought you to me so I could finally feel the love I’ve never had in the past.”

“Well whatever the reason was, I’m happy as hell that He did that shit.” I pecked her neck. “I love yo’ ass, Draylah. And remember that no matter what the next bitch looks, talks, or walks like, she’ll never be you. I love your body, your mind, your spirit,” I spoke in between kisses. “I love everything about yo’ fine ass. You’re literally my fucking heart; you, Frederick Jr., and Camellia.” I stood up with her still in my lap, so she locked her legs around my waist.

“I love you too, Frederick. And don’t worry, that hating ass detective is gonna pay.” Draylah smirked deviously as I carried her towards the bathroom.

“Oh, I know. But right now, I’m gon’ make this pussy pay.”

“We can’t yet! Not until my checkup!” she whined as I kicked the door closed behind us.

“I know that shit already.” I placed her to her feet and pushed that robe off of her. “You know I clock ya pussy 24/7. But I’m ‘bout to eat that shit up, and then you gon’ deep throat this dick.” I licked my lips at the sight of her naked body. I couldn’t believe she’d given birth to some fucking humans. I never thought about it, but after witnessing the shit, I had a newfound respect for my girl. “Get yo’ ass in the shower.”

Smiling seductively with her little freaky ass, Draylah turned the water on and did as she was told as I finished getting out of my clothes. We had to hurry up since I sent my grandma home, and Lily and the twins would need our attention soon. I knew how to make my pussy cream in seconds though.

  Draylah Omari

  A couple days later…

I finished putting on the little bit of makeup I planned to wear today, and then got up from my vanity. Smiling, I made my way into my huge walk-in closet, admiring how it basically looked like a department store.

But what made the sight even more enjoyable was that not only did my man purchase half of this, but I purchased the other half. I never thought I’d see the day when I could buy myself an Hermes bag or some Louboutins, but the day was definitely here. I’d grown up pretty roughly, and being pretty damn broke for as long as I could remember, so this moment meant a lot to me.

And I loved the fact that even though I could buy myself nice things anytime I wanted, Ricky still gave me shit. He wasn’t threatened at all by my success, which a lot of men were, and it only made me love him more. He was confident in himself, and not some insecure little boy who got turned off or afraid when facing a woman who could do for herself.

“I’m ready, Draylah!” Lily came rushing into the bedroom and then my closet. She had on the cutest Gucci dress that Ricky had gotten for her, and I had one to match.

“You look so pretty, Lily!” I leaned down to kiss her cheek. “Can you guess what I’m wearing today?” I raised a brow.

  “Same thing as me, right?”

“Exactly.” I reached and grabbed the dress that was hanging up to show her.

“Yay!” she shouted with the widest grin I’d ever seen on her face.

The more time I spent with her, the harder it became to face the fact that she wasn’t mine in a sense. I felt like a little child, wanting to pout and stomp my feet, then yell she was mine and that I should have her here with me.

Ricky promised we would have her here permanently, but I wasn’t sure how. I mean, I had faith that he could pull it off because he wasn’t the type to say things unless he was sure he could do it, but I just wondered how? I didn’t want Antonia to die or anything, but I did want my baby.

“Can you go check on Frederick and Cam while I change?”

“Okay, hurry up. I’m hungry.” Lily left, and I just chortled at her as I slid into the matching dress. After slipping my feet into some blood red sandal stilettos to match the red in my dress, I brushed down my fresh press, leaving a part down the middle.

After grabbing my purse, keys, and phone, I left my bedroom to get my babies’ double stroller and then went to their bedrooms. Lily helped me carefully place them in the stroller, and right when we finished, the doorbell sounded off.

“Draylah,” Lily called my name as I started out of the bedroom, pushing the stroller.

  “Yes?”

“I know I have to go back home later, but can I stay for a little longer? You don’t mind taking me to school, do you?”

“Uh… Lily, no, I can take you in before work, but what about your mother? We have to ask her and see if she says it’s okay.”

“She won’t.” Lily dropped her little head.

“You don’t know that, baby. Maybe she will say you can stay, as long as you’re good during lunch today.”

Walking closer to me, Lily took my hand and pleaded, “Can you ask her for me, Draylah, please? I really want to stay here.”

The look on her face tugged at my heartstrings, and I didn’t know if it was because of how sad she looked or if it was because she was my baby. If she only knew that I wanted her to stay the night even more than she did.

“Okay, I will ask.” I smiled and so did she, looking like my reflection.

“Okay.” She slipped her small hand into mine, and even though it’d be hard to push this stroller with one hand, I wouldn’t dare let her hand go.

We made it down the stairs after forever because of this stroller, and finally answered the door to see Antonia standing there. She was frowning at the sun beaming down on her, but whe
n she saw Lily, a big smile spread across her face.

“Lily, you… look so pretty.” Antonia’s smile faded instantaneously upon seeing that Lily and I were matching.

“Thanks, Mommy! Draylah has the same dress! Ricky bought them for us! He bought Camellia one too, but hers is a baby one. And Frederick has on a short set to match us!” Lily ran off excitedly as I typed in the alarm code.

“You guys are just all matching, I see.” Antonia bucked her eyes with a closed mouth smile, and if I weren’t mistaken, I’d say there was a hint of attitude in her tone.

“Well I’m sure that we’re all hungry, so we’d better get going,” I said, stepping out into the large roundabout driveway and closing the door behind me.

I led everyone to my G-Wagon, and like always, Lily wanted to sit in between the babies’ car seats. I made sure everyone was safely buckled in as Antonia climbed into my passenger seat, and then I put the stroller into the truck before getting in on the driver’s side.

“This is very fancy,” Antonia commented as if she hadn’t seen my car before.

“I thought you knew I had this?” I buckled my seat belt.

“Yes, but I’ve never been inside it.” She exhaled and adjusted her purse in her lap as I pulled out of the gates and onto the street.

We ended up at this place named Spago, which had really good food and seating out on a patio. I chose this place because it wasn’t too exotic for Lily, and she told me she’d never eaten at a place where the tables were outside. Stuff like that made me wonder just what my baby had been experiencing. My motherly instincts were kicking in, and I could feel myself becoming more concerned with her well-being than I’m sure Antonia would like.

It was a Wednesday afternoon, so the cafe wasn’t too bad, but there was a slight rush of people on their lunches. We were seated outside, so Lily was so excited that she couldn’t stop smiling, and in turn, that made me grin. Antonia seemed a little salty that Lily wanted to sit next to me, but I really didn’t care. She could sit on her side alone, while I had my babies on each side of me.
