“I’m sure as hell going to try.” She managed to smile through her tears.

“Of course we are,” Shaz declared. “No one named Frellshingle is going to beat my witch and her friends.” The cat sighed and then added. “And I suppose you’ll help too, wolf.”

  “You better believe it.”

He handed her the ice cream and then lifted her into his arms and started up the stairs. “Bed. Now.”

She laughed and held up the tub. “And this?”

“Is for afterward. Trust me, you’re going to need the energy.”

Fern laughed all the way to their bedroom. She might not have her parents back, but for the first time in what felt like forever, she was truly happy. Her life had purpose, and it was filled with love, friends, and even a family member or two. Not to mention the support of her mate, and a lifetime supply of crème brulee.

The Goddess had kept her promise and given her everything she needed to succeed.

“Thank you,” she whispered as Orion carried her to bed. There were still battles to fight and problems to solve, but that was a problem for another day. Tonight, she’d savour the win, the ice cream, and Orion.
