  “Oh god, René!”

The wet, squishy feel of his tongue moving with carnal dexterity inside her made her melt. The molten heat seared her tender tissues with primitive knowledge and made her even crazier for him. Fluid seeped from her channel when his tongue exited and then took to loving on her clit. She clawed at the bedspread, feeling madness quickly overtake her. He was so good, so hot and wonderful she couldn’t stand it.

It didn’t feel gross, dirty, or sinful to have this man’s mouth on her sex. It felt divine and right, like she’d found exactly what she needed—someone to shut out what Charlie had meant to her, or at least to break the hold he still had on her in the bedroom.

Kendall cried out softly when she came, absorbing every hot wave of pleasure that rippled through her and succumbing to the delicious contractions in her womb and muscles. She jolted and then sank into the mattress deeper as she sought to get air back into her lungs.

“I think you’re the amazing one, René.”

  “I’m glad you liked it.”

A breathy wail tore from her when he kissed her mons. “No more. I can’t take it. I need you inside me.”

Only with one other person had she felt primal enough to utter sexual pleas and make lustful demands.

René stood and undressed quickly, wearing a grateful smile. “I need to be inside you. Your body is incredible, Kendall, so beautiful.”

Her manners went right out the window when he climbed into bed naked with her. Every inch of him was tan and solid. It gave her a wicked sense of enjoyment to know that he’d been nude in the sun at some point. He had a light dusting of dark hair on his chest, but his abs were bare, save for the hirsute trail below his navel.

His bulging cock was blood-darkened and enticing. She wanted to take the blushing head into her mouth, but more than that she wanted to feel him buried deep inside her.

“Oh, René.” It was all she could say as she ran her hands all over his gorgeous body.

He rolled a condom on and then laid her back against the bed in a deep, sinful kiss. The rubber tip strummed through her soaked folds in search of her entry. Slight pressure nudged her and then a rough, exhilarating moment later, he was inside her, sinking, losing himself in her depths and filling her completely. He stretched her wide open and stuffed her with his thick, swollen flesh.

He gazed deeply into her eyes, burning into her with those dark, alluring irises of his. His sounds and the balmy caress of his labored breaths electrified her. His tender kisses and slow, controlled thrusts made the act feel like lovemaking.

A brief moment of internal panic sprang up at how quickly she was falling for René, but then she dismissed it. She just wanted to enjoy the moment and lose herself completely in him. If she felt hopelessly in love in this moment, it was no big deal. Lust was a powerful trickster, the Loki of emotions, really. It would make this night with him even more magical and, come morning, the soul-deep feelings would be but a memory she would be able to classify as carnal delight.

She was an educated woman, damn it. No well-disguised lust was going to convert her into a believer of love at first sight. That was a good way to get hurt or end up disappointed.

René pulled her into him and moved his arm under her to cradle her head while he rocked inside her. It was so sweet and precious to be held like this...and utterly damaging to her resolve not to feel too much for him.

She wrapped her arms around him and draped a leg over his so they were entwined. He felt so good against her body, so incredible thrusting into her cunt with deep, thorough strokes. She massaged his lower lip between hers, gasping when she felt him reach down between their groins to rub her clit. She held his sizzling gaze and adjusted her hips ever so slightly to get his finger in just the right spot.

“That feels really good,” she whispered.

He smiled down at her and drank in her features with his wandering eyes. “You feel wonderful, boo.”

The pet name drew a smile from her, but the gentle tug on her heart was alarming. She pulled him into a kiss to hide from his telling gaze. The intense pressure in her crotch exploded into a scorching rush of flames and soft waves of pleasure. A mangled outcry rushed from her at the too-good sensations of euphoria and the agonizing bliss of her cunt shuddering around his stiff cock.

His savage grunt inflamed her. He swallowed her whimpering cry, only permitting her release from his mauling when her body jolted against his at the break in her climax. She panted in desperation and mewled about deities while he fucked his erection into her hard and fast.

“Kendall, I’m gonna come,” he gritted out.

She ran her palm over his cheek, feeling drawn to him in a way that went above and beyond skin-deep. “Come for me, René.”

A strained holler rose from him and his face distorted with a sexual enlightenment that gave her a tremendous sense of gratification. His hips smashed hard against hers and jerked as he ejaculated. He hovered over her panting for a second before lying down fully on top of her and snuggling with her.

She would remember this. Feeling him lodged deep in her pussy and the masculine feel of his body pinning hers down on the bed, the delicious warmth of his breath on her skin, and all the kindness he’d shown her, and the fun date they’d had—she would remember all of it and treasure it.

She’d never had a one-night stand before, but she’d heard one risk of indulging in them was the possibility of becoming attached to the person one took to bed with them. She’d scoffed at the idea, unable to believe that one could possibly form such a strong attachment to someone they barely knew...until now.

  Chapter Four

The next morning, Kendall and René got ready in the hotel room together. He’d spent the night with her and they’d slept in each other’s arms. It had been so beautiful, so moving to share her bed with a man she liked so much, someone who treated her right.

While he was in the shower, she checked her messages. Her heart skipped a beat when she got a text from one of the men she’d been chatting online with for the past year. It was Quentin, the kinky one.

“Did you make up your mind about visiting me in South Dakota before you move to New York?”

Well, she couldn’t meet him now, not after her special night with René...whatever his last name was. She probably should have asked before they took a racy tumble together between the sheets last night.

She replied, “I’m in South Dakota to visit my sister. I’m not staying long.”

  Quentin texted back, “Where at?”

  “McKenna Downs.”

She hoped that was far away from wherever he lived.

  “That’s my hometown.”

  Crap. Of course it was.

She got another message from him. “Meet me at the coffee shop in half an hour. It’s across from the hotel you’re probably staying at.”

Her heart sped like it wanted to win the Kentucky Derby. “I can’t. I have to meet my sister soon.”

He texted back “Meet me there. I know you want to meet me as much as I want to meet you.”

She nearly quit breathing, torn about what to do. Meeting with him even for a mere coffee date would feel like betraying René, but why should it, when they weren’t even going out? A one-night stand didn’t count as being exclusive with someone unless they discussed turning it into a relationship. They hadn’t. Regardless, last night had meant something to her and it seemed like it had meant something to him as well.

Then again, maybe she was only seeing what she wanted to see.

She didn’t get a chance to reply to Quentin before René walked out of the bathroom, brushing his teeth. His fastidiousness and foresight of having brought his toothbrush had pleased her greatly. Not that she planned on mauling his face while he drove her over to visit her sister or anything, but one could never be too sure about these things.

“You want anything before we head over?” he asked. “Coffee, maybe?”

A cold slap of apprehension and eagerness smacked
her around inside. “That would be nice. Please.”

She wouldn’t meet with Quentin, not when she was spending her short stay in McKenna Downs with handsome sweetheart René.

Still, she would only be in South Dakota once. The online relationship she’d had with Quentin this past year, while not official or exclusive, still meant something to her, and there was a part of her that had to know. She wouldn’t talk to him or make him aware of her presence. With any luck, he wouldn’t see her in the coffeehouse or recognize her if he did. She just wanted to see his face in person, to lay eyes on the Dom she might have been with and take that memory with her to New York, just like she would the sweet, rapturous memory of her time in McKenna Downs with René.

There he was. Kendall went weak in the knees when she saw Quentin sitting at a table in the coffee shop. He looked like a hot African god with his dark eyes and swarthy skin. He was bald, and his only facial hair was a scant dusting of stubble like a mustache and chinstrap were growing in. He wore black pants, dark shoes, and a long-sleeved black shirt, but even covered up, she could tell he was brawny and fit.

His manner of dress in pictures ran the gamut between classy and sharp-dressed in suits and button-down shirts at times, and other pictures had shown him in more athletic apparel such as jeans and hoodies, or karate pants without a shirt. He was just fucking spectacular no matter what he had on.

It sucked knowing that he was right there and she would never meet him in person, never get a chance to talk with the man she’d conversed with so much online, the man who had first gotten her interested in BDSM. She remembered how hot and bothered it had gotten her whenever he gave her orders to carry out. Obeying him made her crazy, and the chemistry they shared was unforgettable.

Saying good-bye to René in a few days when she left for New York would be difficult enough. Losing him before that because of meeting with an online partner was a thought too unbearable to entertain.

René ordered their coffees while she stole tiny glances at Quentin. When their eyes met, her heart felt like it stopped beating and the blood froze in her veins. The recognition in his eyes said he knew it was her.

Crap, this going to be awkward. I can’t choose between them. They both mean something. I never should have come here.

“I’m going to wait outside,” Kendall told René, panicking inside when she saw Quentin stand. The chair made a subdued screech as it scooted across the floor behind him.

René smiled at her. “I’ll be out with the coffee in a minute.”

She forced a smile, trying to hide her emotional frenzy when Quentin started to close the distance between them. “Thanks.”

She turned and walked swiftly, pretty much bolting when she got past the door.

  “Kendall!”

  Shit!

She walked faster, but her subconscious told her she was jogging like a drama queen away from him. Ah, nothing like blending into the small town. She heard powerful male strides behind her and then a big, strong hand clamped down on her forearm and made her stop.

“Kendall, why are you running away from me?” Quentin asked.

His voice was dark and deep with the seamless smoothness of fondue enveloping cake. Despite his calm tone, there was a commanding element to his voice that was unmistakable. It dripped with decadence and the low rumble of thunder rising in the distance at the commencement of a storm. She had a feeling it boomed with even more power when he yelled.

She swallowed nervously. He was probably about six feet two inches tall. It would have been daunting enough if he’d been around her height and she had to look him in the eye and try to explain things to him. The fact that he was a skyscraper and she had to gaze up at his towering height made her feel small and even more uneasy.

His eyes were black, or as damned near as brown could come to true black without trespassing completely. They were dark with power, penetrating. His full lips looked so lush and kissable. Every mesmerizing detail of his sculpted features left her in awe of the human being in front of her. He was about as masculine as they came, yet the word “beautiful” came to mind when she looked at him. It was as if the sheer maleness of him transcended the material world and had entered into a realm that inspired reverence.

“I really wanted to meet you,” she said quietly. “Something came up.”

“Then what were you doing in the coffee shop?”

She wasn’t sure if it was okay to call him Quentin since this was their first face-to-face meeting, or if she should address him as Sir like he’d had her do online. She decided to avoid using either and just speak to him without any names or titles—a convenient compromise.

“I...” She felt sick with dread when she saw René coming over with their coffees and a stark look of confusion on that face she’d quickly come to cherish.

“What’s going on?” he asked when he reached them.

Quentin let go of her. “That’s what I’m trying to find out.”

She damned near burst into tears. “I slept with René last night...Sir.”

  Oh hell no!

Somehow, adding the word Sir in there made everything even more personal and that much worse.

Quentin’s brows arched and he casually glanced at René, seeming surprised but strangely unfazed by her conduct.

René appeared even more so. “You two know each other?”

“We’ve had an online relationship for the past year,” Quentin explained.

“We were just talking.” She grimaced the second the words came out.

Quentin shot her a warning look, onyx eyes more sensitive than the stern flow of his timbre. “Is that all it was to you?”

She crumbled and her eyes blurred with hot tears. Shaking her head, she mumbled, “No, Sir. It meant something. I’m sorry.”

She looked at both of them when she said it, not quite sure which of them she was apologizing to.

René handed her coffee to her. The blended mocha chilled her hand. “What are you sorry for?”

“He wanted me to meet him. I wanted to, but I wasn’t going to after last night. I just wanted to see him at a distance. I’m really sorry.” She just barely kept the tears back, feeling small, helpless, and like a dirty girl as she peeked up at Quentin. “I just came here to meet my sister. I didn’t know you lived here or that I would meet René. If I’d known you were here, I don’t think...” She shook her head, feeling hot tears spill over. “It wasn’t supposed to happen like this. Forget I came here.”

René called after her when she turned and speed-walked away. “Kendall!”

  “Stay away from me!”

Neither of them followed, which relieved and hurt her. When she was a good distance away from them and out of sight, she broke down and cried. She felt so stupid, so foolish and greedy. Everything had spiraled out of control.

Then there was that quirky, mischievous vanilla guy she’d been corresponding with online for about a year as well.

  God, I’m such a slut.

She cried harder. It had just been talk with Justin, too, but it had made her so happy. Moreover, her correspondence with Quentin and her special day and night with René had meant the world to her. She cared about all three of them, yet she didn’t even know their last names.

  Real classy, Kendall.

She also still had residual feelings for Charlie.

Blinded by tears, she could barely make out the contacts in her cell phone as she scrolled down to find her sister Melanie’s phone number. She would have her older sibling pick her up. They could spend the day together and tomorrow, she was out of here and speeding all the way to the airport...if she could get a rental car. It was probably difficult to get one after having gotten the first car she’d rented from them blown up. Maybe if she used a different rental place, no one would be any wiser.

It blew her mind that her chest hurt like she was dying inside.

So stupid. It was just an online BDSM relationship and a one-night stand, nothing
to cry about. You shouldn’t have gotten attached, you stupid girl.

But she had gotten attached, in a very deep and painful way that was killing her.

  * * * *

Justin Huntington walked into the empty BDSM club during the daytime when it was closed. He grabbed his paycheck from the break room, dancing like an epic rock star to the beat of Ke$ha’s “TiK ToK” playing on his iPod. He got a little distracted with his rocking out as he made his way into the large public area near the bar.

He gasped when he saw his boss, Aiden Friel, sitting on a barstool with a hard drink, watching him.

“Geez! Boss!” Justin’s cheeks burned. “Shane gave me his key so I could come in here to get my paycheck. I figured I’d do it today instead of waiting until next time I worked. Money, you know.”

Aiden stared at him without a word, a small smile playing at his lips.

“Not that money is everything. It’s just, food is good.” Justin cleared his throat. “I’m gonna go. Okay? Okay.”

“While you’re here, you can stock the bar.” Aiden nodded at the wall. “The crates are over there.”

  “Okay.” Justin got to it.

Figures, the twit would make him work even when he wasn’t on the clock.

Aiden sat there in silence with a tumbler of what looked like scotch. Justin was surprised he’d put ice in it this time. Maybe the hot weather had the guy craving a colder drink. Lord, this was awkward with him not saying anything.

His boss had a face and figure to write home about. Aiden was a noteworthy six feet two inches tall and as jam-packed with muscle as he’d heard L.A. was congested with traffic during rush hour.

His sage-green eyes were tinted with hues of slate-gray in a smoldering gaze that could have some people questioning their sexual identity. Not him, of course, but some people. Aiden’s eyes had a downward slant, giving him a melancholy look, but the man had enough attitude and a sharp tongue that warded off any thoughts of sympathy toward him.
