“Hurry up, Dilwa, hurry up!” cried the bishop with bated breath.
“I’m only as fast as I am, your Eminence,” replied Dilwa. “I’m afraid I’m just not as young as I used to be.”
“Codswallop!” shouted Bishop Ffesh. “I’m older than you.”
They neared the end of the tunnel. Already they could see the light of day. They had squeezed through kobotvs’ worth of blackness, grime and stale air, losing all hope of escape, until they reached this last stretch, where sunlight illumined the last few okshas of toilsome crawling, until that final push, with their last ounce of energy, and they reached the exit. They found themselves at the edge of Shivka Forest, in the midst of a heap of moss and lichen-covered boulders. They had to push through spider webs and vines to break free but, even then, when they stood and stretched their cramped and weary limbs, bruised and sore, they found that the exit was practically invisible. The passage was well-and-truly secret. After resting for a few moments, they made with all due haste for the small hamlet of Biffda, which consisted of no more than five farmhouses surrounded by fields of meb-goats, kogabish, tame nimffish-gazelles, and a few ffentbaffs, whose hirsute backs were dusted with an abundance of snow. They approached the hamlet with caution, their feet crunching gently in the thin layer of snow which blanketed the fields and the rooftops of every tvagshaff, tvansh and tvamshaff. Approaching one of these tvamshaffs (‘farmhouses’), a stout farmer with a geltv-hat, thick overalls and a grimy face waddled out, his prodigious belly making ordinary perambulations difficult. He carried a large pitchfork, and, at his wide black leather belt, there hung a curved dagger—a variety of ffut called a ffutaish. He eyed the bishop suspiciously, one bushy brown eyebrow raised above the other while his frown displayed an evident mistrust. It was easy to see why—Dilwa appeared to be a mud-caked gatviff bear, minus the blue eyes and fluorescent green fur. Bishop Ffesh, also layered with mud, his clothes torn and his hair unkempt, appeared to be a grubby drifter, wild and uncivilized.
“Who be ye?” growled the farmer.
“Do you not recognize us, farmer?” asked the bishop in his most imperious tone.
“A question with a question,” replied the farmer. “What manner of trick is this?”
“No trick, peasant,” said the bishop angrily. “I am the bishop!”
“A dirty bishop thou beest! What, hast thou crawled through the ground like a worm?” he guffawed.
“I am your bishop!” Ffesh shouted. “Treat me as such!”
“I reckon the king’d like for to have thee captive.”
“The king!” Ffesh baulked incredulously. “There is no king!”
“Ffantplain is fallen and there’s a new king what gives low taxes. Ain’t ye heard?”
“How could you possibly know a thing about it!” Ffesh cried. “You’re kobotvs out from the city!”
“News travels fast among us country-folk,” he replied. “King Ifunka’ll be hearing of this. Marga, get the boys to take a message!”
“What is it, thou old numpkin?” asked Marga, the farmer’s wife.
“Send Tom and Bom to Ffantplain with a message: we’ve captured the bishop and his horrendous fat lover-boy.”
“Lover-boy!” Dilwa cried in a tone which only confirmed the farmer’s suspicions.
“The king’ll give us a ripe ransom for this, I’ll wager!”

About the Author
Nicholas James Bridgewater, also known as Abú-Jalál, is an epic science fiction writer, poet, EFL lecturer and expert on Middle Eastern history and religion. He is also the author of several books on spirituality and self-development, including Mindfulness: Five Ways to Achieve Real Happiness, True Knowledge and Inner Peace and Meditation: Five Ways to Master your Mind, Body and Spirit, as well as books on business, wealth creation and investment, including short information guides on how to make money using information products, investing in gold and Bitcoin.6 For more information on Bitcoin, make sure to read his article entitled ‘What is Bitcoin?’7
