Kat kept glancing in my direction and looked nervous, which is why, I asked, “Miles, William, can I talk to you both in the kitchen, please?” At my words, fear filled Kat’s face and I knew she was more than worried. I moved to where she stood and slipped my arm around her waist. “I love you,” I whispered for her ears only before I placed a tender kiss on her cheek. “Don’t worry, and enjoy your granddaughter.” I smirked. “You’re the sexiest grandma I’ve ever seen.” I smacked her on the ass and led the way into the kitchen.

When I saw the look on Miles’s face, I winced, wondering what possessed me to smack his mom on the ass in front of him, considering how silent he’d been. I ran my hands through my hair and leaned back against the countertop. “Look, I know I’m closer to your age than your mom’s,” I started, not really having a plan but knowing I’d have to say something to reassure him. “I’m in love with her, and plan on spending the rest of my life showing her.”

Miles looked startled while William grinned. “I was here this morning, remember. I saw the way you looked at her when she appeared on the stairs.” William paused. “All I ask is that you always look at her in that way because it’s about time someone did.”

Miles sighed. “It’s weird, okay? Dad hardly ever spoke to Mom when he was home, and then he left.” He glanced at William, and continued, “It’s nice seeing her happy, but I can’t suddenly stop being protective of her. We’re all she’s had for a long time now, and it isn’t easy.”

I shook my head. “I don’t want you to stop. Ever. She’s your mom. What I would like though is for you both to accept me, and to make sure she knows you support her in the relationship with me. I’m not going anywhere. I want her happy and I know it would mean everything to her if she knew you were onboard with me being in her life.”

“You know I’m okay with you both.” William winced. “I wish I could say the same for Dad.”

Miles groaned. “Dad is going to be difficult, although I don’t see why he has any right one way or the other. He divorced Mom the minute she told him he had to.”

  I frowned. “She?”

“His new wife,” William commented. “He does what she tells him.” He grinned. “Although, I do have to give Dad credit because he put his foot down about us.” He glanced at his brother before he continued, “She didn’t want him to have anything to do with us. Dad told her we weren’t negotiable.” He sighed. “He has been a great Dad, and he was always there for us as kids. It just hurt watching how he treated Mom. As we got older, it was more obvious how indifferent he was to her and we all grew apart from him. We’re just getting back on track.”

“He isn’t happy that Mom has someone younger than she is.” Miles looked around. “Just treat her how she deserves to be treated, and we won’t have a problem.” He held his hand out.

I quickly shook it before he could change his mind. “Your mom is special, you’ll never have reason to doubt my love for her.”

“Or mine for him,” Kat added, moving toward me. She smiled and it lit her whole face. Her arm went around my waist and she placed her head on my shoulder while she rubbed my stomach. “You three okay in here?”

“We’re good,” Miles said, wandering off into the living room.

“How do you feel about Mom being a grandma?” William asked, amusement on his face.

“I think she’s a hot grandma,” I admitted and tightened my hold on Kat when she pinched my butt.

“Good, because she’s going to have two grandchildren soon.” He grinned.

“What?” Kat gasped. “You and Samantha?”

William nodded his head. “Figured we needed to catch up to Miles. Can’t have him getting one over on me, now, can we?”

Kat dashed over to her son. “Congratulations, honey.” She dragged him into the living room.

I watched from the doorway as Samantha and William were congratulated, and little Cecee giggled from her baby swing.

With an eye on Cecee, I moved closer and picked the excited little girl up in my arms. I’d had no practice with small children over the years, but I guess if Kat’s family continued to pop out kids, then I’d better get used to them.

Cecee appeared mesmerized with the scruff on my face as her little hands rubbed over my cheeks while she giggled. Baby dribble dropped to my shirt, but who the hell cared.

It was only when I realized the room had fallen silent that I glanced up and found Kat and her family watched me.

  “What?”

William approached with his eyes full of amusement. He tickled Cecee under her chin. “This is your granddad, Cecee.”

I narrowed my stare at William, and laughed when Cecee tried to say Granddad.

“You know what,” I commented, “I’d be honored to be your granddad.” My eyes connected with Kat, who had tears on her lashes. “Because I’m going to marry your grandma, as soon as she’ll have me.”

Kat nestled into my side, her head buried against my chest while she quietly sniffled.

I smiled over the top of her head and laughed at the look on their faces.

“You are so romantic. No wonder Kat fell for you,” Samantha whispered, crying into William’s shoulder.

I kissed the top of Kat’s head. “Hey babe, I think they like me.”

She chuckled. “Of course they like you.”

“Now that’s sorted, I hope you’ve all gotten your costumes for tonight’s party in town.” I passed Cecee to her mother while I cupped Kat’s beautiful face in my hands. “I love you.”

“Mmm, I love you too…and I can’t wait for you to see what I’m wearing.”

  “Well, my costume is original.”

She laughed. “Let me guess, you’re going as the sheriff?”

  “You know me well.”

  Chapter Fourteen

  Jesse

“Jesse,” Kat hissed. ”I’m burning up.” One of her legs hooked over my hip, her arms clutched at my shoulders to steady her while she rubbed her wet pussy over my solid erection, which was trapped in my pants.

We’d only been at the party for an hour, but I’d done nothing but tease the one who held my heart. She’d done some teasing of her own with the sexy little sheriffs dress she wore. It only just covered her bottom. The top of the silky thigh highs flashed when she moved, and along with the sparkling black Jimmy Choo shoes on her feet, she made one hell of a sexy package.

It also explained why we were now locked in the restroom. Kat’s moan got me in the balls, and knowing she rubbed her bare pussy on me, had me hard as steel.

I needed relief as badly as Kat obviously did and I was seconds from ripping my pants open. The only way I saw this going was to turn the vibrator up, and make her come, because I sure as fuck didn’t want to spill in my jeans.

Reaching inside my pocket, I moved the switch and watched as Kat’s eyes rolled in pleasure while she moaned deeply.

“Fuck, Kat,” I groaned and dropped my face into the curve of her shoulder, my large hands on her bare bottom, as I helped her move against me.

Seconds later, I felt her unfastening my jeans and then the length of my cock met her soaked pussy. “Much better.”

She ground on me while I clenched my teeth to stay loaded, and wondered whose bright idea it had been to shove a vibrator inside of her.

Her eyes glazed over, and when she opened her mouth to scream, I slammed mine down on hers. I captured her tongue with mine and sucked hard. I needed her so badly and as she flooded my cock, I bit back a groan of my own.

I gripped her hips and pushed her away from my dick because just one more rub would make me come all over her.

“Kat…stop,” I begged, jaw clenched tightly together.

“You need—” She trailed off as she glanced down and watched my cock jerk. “Oh.”

I’d laugh if I weren’t in so much pain.

Kat straightened her dress, and dropped to the floor. Her hand wrapped around my dick as she met my gaze. “We don’t want you leaving a mess,
and as those words left her lips, she sucked me inside the warmth of her mouth.

I was lost and, on the third suck, I came, so hard and fast that it nearly dropped me to my ass. She sucked everything out of me and would have continued, but for me tugging her to her feet and slamming my mouth to hers. “You’re a naughty girl.” I took her mouth again, and again while I fastened my jeans. My hands tangled in her long hair, pulling her mouth away from me. I hovered a breath away from her mouth. “I can’t get enough of you.” I panted. “You make me feel like a horny teenager.”

She giggled. “So when you were a horny teenager, did you get sucked off in a public restroom, or give your girl an orgasm surrounded by lots of sweaty bodies?”

“God, no.” I laughed, embarrassed. “I might have used the janitor’s closet, but never like this. Nothing has ever been close to this.”

“Good.” She hooked an arm around my neck. “Take the egg out of me, please. It’s really uncomfortable now.” Her leg hooked around my hip so I allowed my hand to slip between us and along her soaked flesh.

  “Mmm.”

“Fuck, babe. Don’t make those sounds right now.”

I fished around through her folds, opening her up. “Push it out, babe.” I grinned, and when I felt the egg touch my fingers, I removed it but only after I’d swirled my finger around the entrance to heaven.

  “Jesse, no more.”

I heard her and pulled my hand out, shoving the object into my pocket. “You’re decent now.”

  “I’m probably flushed after that.”

“Anyone who sees you will know you are well loved. Adored. I love you.”

Tears ran down her face as she threw herself into my arms and when her lips found mine, she mumbled, “I love you,” before everything else was forgotten.

  Epilogue

  Kat

I didn’t think there was anything sexier than watching my husband with our twin daughters as he sat on the rocking chair in the nursery with Paula and Elizabeth. Paula was named for Jesse’s grandmother, and Elizabeth after my best friend, Beth. The girls were so amazing and, right now, they were drifting off to sleep after being fed.

Jesse looked up and caught my eye, the soft smile he offered gave me butterflies in my belly.

“Hello, beautiful mama. Come and join us.”

Sitting on his lap, I took Paula from his arm so that he could wrap it around me while we all snuggled together in the cocoon of Jesse’s arms. “I love watching you with our daughters. It’s something I always want to remember.”

“When I look at you and them, I still find it hard to believe that you all belong to me. You’re my wife, and we have two, beautiful daughters. I never imagined my life would ever be so complete. Because when I met you, I would have given up on having my own family just to be with you. I hope you know that.”

Tears hovered on my lashes. “I do know and I’ll always be thankful for your persistence and forwardness.” I grinned. “We had sex before our date even got started.”

Jesse’s grin filled his face as his eyes lit with mirth. “I didn’t hear any complaints from you.”

“And you never will.” Sighing, I buried my face into Jesse’s neck and breathed a kiss there. “I’m happy Jesse. You and our babies make me really happy. I can’t thank you enough for that.”

“We complement each other, that’s why our love works so well.” Jesse kissed my brow as Elizabeth murmured in her sleep.

As I glanced at Paula and then Elizabeth, I thought back to the time I told Jesse I was pregnant. I think I was in a state of shock because of my age, even though we had tempted fate on more than one occasion—every occasion to be exact. To inform Jesse, I’d decided to do something different and sent him a bouquet of pink and blue balloons with the ribbon attached to two pairs of bootees. His face had been a picture, and right there in the middle of the sheriff’s office, he had dropped to his knees, wrapped his arms around my hips, and kissed my stomach.

Miles and William hadn’t been too impressed to begin with and I really couldn’t blame them, but eventually they came around, and thankfully we were one big happy family.

  Chapter One

I could feel his stare weighing on me, heavy and warm like a blanket I didn’t ask for but appreciated all the same. My hand trembled as I slid my gold key into the slot of the deadbolt, securely locking my door. I didn’t live in a bad neighborhood, so my sudden unsteadiness wasn’t due to fear. It was because I knew this man should not stir the feelings he was rousing inside of me.

  Don’t look…

Sliding my ornate key into the narrow pocket of my Dior clutch, I tried to hide my body’s response to his attention. He pretended to sort a handful of mail outside of his apartment door, his tailored clothing the usual high-end office attire, and the golden stubble covering his jaw proof of a long day’s work.

  No one read their mail
in the hall. They grabbed it from the lobby and dumped it on their counter when they walked in the door. Yet he eye fucked each envelope with the same intensity one reviewed a life or death contract. I doubted he read a single word.

Bingo. With a flick of his thick lashes, blond enough to give his blue eyes a dramatic gilded fringe, his gaze left the mail and landed on me. I looked away because there wasn’t time to play coy and the last thing I needed was another man in my life.

We lived in a civil war era mansion renovated into apartments, located on Delancey Street in the Rittenhouse section of Old City Philadelphia—a place college students shouldn’t be able to afford. But I wasn’t an ordinary college student. My life was full of exploits most women couldn’t imagine—and some wouldn’t want to.

It was the second time he and I crossed paths since I’d moved in, and it surely wouldn’t be the last. I should say hello, introduce myself, do the upper class, neighborly thing, but there wasn’t time. A luxury sports car waited for me out front and I couldn’t keep my client waiting.

A shiver raced down my spine as my neighbor’s attention lingered and my eyes slowly blinked. The heat of his stare teased at the base of my back, exposed by my ebony, couture midi dress. Why did he have to look at me like that?

I knew my ass looked phenomenal, and it should for the amount of time I spent sweating it off at the gym every dawn. But my curves and this dress weren’t for him. I wasn’t for him. And by the look of his high-end, tailored suit and unquestionable attractiveness paired with his young age, I knew, without a doubt, he wasn’t for me.

He was for some pretty, little, pedigreed female, born and raised around old money, pampered and gently disciplined to always pick up the correct silver spoon at a formal table, and never go slumming in the places I’ve been. Yup, I definitely wasn’t his type.

Keeping my lashes low, my lips formed the thinnest smile as I tossed him a brief sideways glance and my heart lamented the death of possibilities that could never be. His mouth opened by the slightest degree and I felt the corner of my smile pull tight with genuine satisfaction.
