“Are you kidding me? I think it’s great. We’re going to be sisters!” She leaned across the counter and punched Ryan playfully in the arm. “Finally.”

“We were thinking June, if we can pull it off that quickly. Have you and Chris talked about when you might get married yet?”

She shook her head and then looked at Chris who just shrugged. “We haven’t talked about it, but I don’t want a big, traditional wedding.”

  “Why not?”

“I just never pictured a church wedding with matching bridesmaids’ dresses and all that. I just want to do a small getaway wedding with all our closest friends.” She looked to Chris. “You good with that?”

“Whatever you want.” He pulled her in to his side and kissed the top of her head.

“How’s your mom going to feel about that?” Elle asked.

“Well, now that she has your and Ry’s wedding to help plan, I think she’ll care a lot less. Besides, I think it’s Claire who I’m going to have to dodge. She probably started pulling wedding ideas the moment Chris slipped that ring on my finger last night.”

They all smiled, and Tori wished Claire and Jake were there to be part of this happy moment. With all the drama between those two, she wondered if they’d all ever be able to hang out again.

“We should go. I promised Mom and Dad we’d stop by.” Ryan stood, and Elle followed.

“You haven’t even had coffee yet.”

“Another time. Now that we’re neighbors, I can stop by for coffee anytime.”

Chris wrapped his arms around Tori’s waist from behind and talked over her head. “Any time after noon.”

They said their goodbyes, and Chris walked Ryan and Elle to the door, closing it behind them then turning with a big smile on his face. “I thought they’d never leave.”

She rolled her eyes. “They were here for less than five minutes.”

“Those were five valuable minutes.” He reached her and ran his hands down her arms until their fingers were intertwined.

“Did you mean it? You’re good without the big, fancy wedding?”

“Sweetheart, we can go to City Hall right now if that’s what you want. I just want you.”

“Mmmm.” She placed a soft kiss on his lips. “I could be Mrs. White before the end of the day.”

“Has a nice ring to it.”

“It does, but I have an even better idea of how we can spend the day.” She hopped up on the counter.

“I like where your head’s at, Future Mrs. White.”

Tori grabbed his shirt and hauled him closer. “I thought you might.”
