Fight Like A Girl Page 2

by Lindsey Owens

“I’m sorry.” She whimpered, tears stung her eyes and she tried to not look up into his angry ugly ones.

  “You will be.” He scowled.

“I need to get to school. They’ll come looking for me.” She pled.

“Get moving.” He growled; she was right. Last time she missed the bus Liz came looking for her. Frank had no idea that Liz had moved away, he just knew he didn’t want anyone snooping around.

He tossed Lilly like a rag doll. Her body skittered across the kitchen floor until her forehead smashed into the edge of a sharp object. Frank let her have one last swift kick into her stomach before he grabbed what he needed and stomped off.

Lilly grasped a napkin and raced out the door, pressing it to her forehead as she ran through the yard. She stumbled through her back yard trying to keep her head up and watch where she was going. Then she made her way through Grayson’s yard for a short cut.

What she didn’t notice though was the tall muscled Grayson watching her from his bedroom window. He watched as she hobbled to the sidewalk and continued toward the school. “Such a klutz,” He rolled his eyes.

“What was that Grayson?” his latest model of one-night stands asked.

“Don’t worry about it. I got to get to school so get out.” He scowled as he turned away from the girl and pulled on his clothing.

“But,” She whined stretching across his bed.

  “Get out Julie.” Grayson growled.

  “It’s Chelsea!” The girl screeched.

  “Whatever.” He shrugged.

The girl stumbled from the bed and grabbed her clothes as she ran down the hall and out the door. Grayson pulled on a shirt over his tight and well-defined chest. Being a trainer at the gym helped him control his anger and even get in shape. He couldn’t help but admire his abs as the shirt slid across them.

Grabbing his keys, he stalked out of the house and to his blue Mustang. He shoved the key into the ignition and pulled out of the driveway. He chuckled as he passed Lilly limping down the street. He couldn’t help but wonder how she hurt herself this time.

Lilly arrived late to class again. “Miss Walker, you’re late again.” Mrs. Smith scowled tapping her foot angrily against the laminate flooring. “What the heck happened to your face child,” she said as she looked over horrified at the bruised girl.

“Uh…” Lilly mumbled “got in a fight with the door. I’m such a klutz,” she lied.

“Well if you’re late again, I am going to have to send you to the office. Now sit down.” She shook her head pointing to where the last seat in the class was.

Lilly didn’t bother to say anything she just hobbled her way down the aisle to the seat next to Grayson. “Door huh?” He laughed humorlessly.

He remembered when Will and Lilly walked together through his back yard. She had her arm wrapped in a cast and a black eye. “What happened to your sister man?” He asked.

“She fell from the big oak out back.” Will shrugged. “I had to take her to get a cast.” He frowned. Grayson couldn’t help but look at his friend’s sister like such a klutz since then, she had always been getting into situations she couldn’t handle. At sixteen she should have known not to climb trees.

“Yeah,” Lilly shrugged avoiding his gaze.

“Maybe you need glasses.” He snickered and looked away. She didn’t want to look at him but Grayson didn’t want to look at her either. She wasn’t his type.

Lilly couldn’t tell him, she didn’t need glasses. Her vision was twenty/ twenty the last time when her brother took her to the doctor a year ago. She couldn’t tell the school that when her mother had passed away, Will protected her against Frank’s abuse, which is why he’s not here now. Nor could she tell her teacher that Frank had beat the crap out of her every day since her brother died.

She scrubbed away a tear as it leaked from her eye and began her math problems. Grayson didn’t bother saying anything else to her. Each class went on the same way; most teachers were not daring to ask what had happened. Most students stared at her and laughed as they had walked past. They would never know what torture she endures and how much worse it is when the classmates treated her with such disrespect.

It was finally the last class of the day. Lilly made her way into the gym and sat down waiting patiently while the teacher walked in and began to speak. “Hello class, I am Mr. Mac, your gym teacher for this year. Please make your way to the locker rooms and change quickly then we will begin with testing.” Lilly’s eyes went wide. She couldn’t change in front of the other girls. She couldn’t do the testing either. Her arm was extremely painful and her ribs still hurt from the other day’s beating. Bruises littered her body beneath her clothing and it wouldn’t be good if anyone saw them.

As the other girls jumped up and chatted their way to the locker rooms, Lilly made her way to the teacher. Grayson chuckled as he walked past her; lazy girl trying to get out of work, he thought. “Mr. Mac.” She said quietly.

“Yes, your name?” Mr. Mac said looking down at his attendance sheet.

“Uh… Lilly Walker, sir. Uh…” she paused.

“Walker, Aa? Any relation to Will Walker, the famous school quarter back?” He asked.

Lilly nodded with a soft smile. He would of course ask that. Everyone who didn’t quite know her asked that when she gave out her name.

“Well, what is it?” He said as he looked up from his clip board. His eyes widened and he gawked at her beaten face. “Sorry. Um, what was it, Lilly.” He said gentler.

“I can’t go in there and change.” She mumbled. Then she added, “I don’t have gym clothes.”

He nodded “that’s alright. For testing you can use your regular clothes.” He smiled.

This was worse than Lilly had thought. Thinking quickly, she said, “I can’t uh… I …” She couldn’t come up with anything. She looked past Mr. Mac and noticed Grayson looking at her with a smirk on his face. She wasn’t going to get out of the class and he was happy about that.

“Well what is it?” Mr. Mac snorted.

“Nothing sir” She mumbled. She would have to come up with an excuse when the moment came. Shyly she sat back down on the floor with the other students who had already finished dressing.

“Okay!” Mr. Mac boomed. “I am glad you all hurried, so now let’s get started. I’ll call teams.”

Mr. Mac went through the line of names it was one boy and one girl teams. She felt like she was going to scream the suspense choking her. “Heins,” Mr. Mac said.

“Yes sir.” A tall beefy looking blond guy said jumping up to his feet.

“I’m going to put you with” He looked down at his sheet and called “Walker, don’t cause any trouble boy.” He shook his head.

Lilly paled; what problems would he cause her? “No problems here, sir.” The boy said with a smirk.

“Good.” Mr. Mac smiled. “Anyone I didn’t call.” He looked around noticing nobody alone he smiled “Okay.”

First station was sit ups and the blond boy walked smirking alongside of Lilly looking down at her with a playful grin. “Didn’t work out how you were hoping, did it?” he chuckled.

“What?” She shrieked quietly, pretending to be offended at such a thought.

“I knew what you were up to…” He accused.

“Shut up.” She muttered. She looked up at blondie as he stared at her with a bright lust filled eyes.

“Hey I won’t say anything… my name’s Nick.” He extended his hand to Lilly with a smile.

“Oh come on.” Nick prodded. Sighing Lilly took his hand and shook.

“Lilly,” she said simply. She lay down on the mat and watched as Nick pressed his big hands to her feet. He waited until she began her sit ups before speaking again.

“Look at you; you’re a walking disaster Lilly.” He chuckled. At first she had thought maybe this guy would be nice but now he was just annoying her.

Lilly snorted. She continued her sit ups without speaking any further to him unt
il the timer ran out. She switched with Nick. He smirked.

Lilly looked around the guy and spotted Grayson looking her way with a smirk. Nick sighed. He tried to get Lilly’s attention as he took his shirt off and tossed it aside as he lay down and began his sit ups. Lilly watched ogling Grayson and completely ignored how Nick’s muscles contract and relax as he did sit ups with ease. She could hear soft giggles behind her and turned her head to see girls practically drooling over Nick.

Lilly squeaked in surprise as she quickly turned her head back to the mat. “He’s not your type.” Nick said flatly.

“What are you talking about?” Lilly huffed.

  “Gray. He’s not your type.”

“I wasn’t looking at Grayson.” She chuckled trying to cover her blushing cheeks she looked away and covered her face with her hair.

“Say what you want kitten?” He said as he sat up and gently traced her swollen lip with his finger. Nick’s touch was gentle and caring; something Lilly couldn’t imagine Grayson being for sure. “If you’re interested…” Nick dragged.

“Don’t be full of yourself, Nick.” She rolled her eyes. “It’s not going to happen.”

“A hot girl like you and a good lookin’ guy like me… we could …” He began.

“I’m not hot and no.” She replied.

He laughed, “Well you missed the timer going off.” He smirked knowing it was because the girl had been staring across the room at someone other than himself. “Let’s go to the next station.”

The next station was chin ups and Lilly knew that wasn’t going to happen with her sore arm. She stepped aside and turned to Nick. “Go ahead you can go first.”

“Sure thing” he smiled “more eye candy for you.”

Lilly shook her head and sat down on the mat as Nick jumped up to the highest bar grasping it firmly. Quickly, he moved up and down, his biceps bulging as he repeated the chin ups over and over. Once the time went off this time, Lilly was sure to catch it.

  “Okay Nick. Time” She said.

“Okay, beautiful your turn,” Nick said hoping down.

  “Uh… I can’t.” She mumbled.

“Sure you can.” Nick flirted. “Want some help?” He said placing his hands on her sides.

Lilly yelped as his hands gripped hold over top of the bruised ribs. She cringed between his hands. “Lilly?” He questioned in worry as he quickly moved away.

  “Sorry”, she mumbled, “bruise there.”

“Sorry.” Nick admitted “Here”, he said “I’ll lift you up and you grab hold.”

Lilly nodded, Nick’s hands slid up her body until they were just below her armpits and he lifted her with ease up to the bar. She gripped tightly to the bar and prayed that her arm would hold her. When Nick let her go she was able to pull herself painfully up once before she whimpered and dropped to the floor clutching her arm for dear life. She had tried. Really she had tried but it was just too much.

“Are you alright?” He asked helping her up. “Let me see?” Nick said gently pulling her shirt up on her arm.

“No! It’s okay.” She snipped and ran through the gym. Nick was speechless and staring confusedly after her. He didn’t know what he had done, but the girl sure was strange. Most girls would die to have his hands ran across their bodies, but Lilly cringed and ran away. He scowled over across the gym at Grayson. What made him such eye candy and not him?

Nick was one of those popular guys, a good-looking, basketball player and Grayson well he wasn’t. ‘I can take him.’ Nick growled.

“Where is Lilly going?” Mr. Mac asked as he walked over.

“No clue.” Nick shrugged, “she took off to the locker room. I guess she had to use the restroom.”

Lilly couldn’t let anyone see the bruises on her body. Frank would kill her if someone came around asking questions. She ran for dear life. Instead of waiting around for school to end Lilly made her way home.

When she reached the short cut through Grayson’s yard she stared at it. Grayson’s slick blue Mustang was parked there, looking down at her watch she realized how slow she had obviously walked. “Crap” she muttered.

She quickly raced through the O’Conner’s yard. “Hey,” Grayson said stepping out before her and wrapping his fingers around her wrist to stop her. “What’s up with you?” He asked suspiciously.

“Let me go.” She said slapping his arms away.

Grayson just shook his head. Such a strange girl, he thought. Something strange was happening with this girl but he couldn’t place his finger on it. When Will died, he had first seen the changes in her. She no longer wore the snug fitting clothing she used to, instead she switched to baggy clothes and sun glasses. He had once assumed it was a grim darkness that had settled over her but now he was beginning to wonder.

He watched as she raced away, shaking his head.

  Chapter 4

Lilly finished dinner in plenty of time tonight. Looking carefully through the living room window she took note that Frank was nowhere in sight; she shoved a mouth full of goulash into her mouth. She filled a small bowl eagerly. Frank wouldn’t be home for another fifteen minutes at least and she was free to indulge as long as she cleaned the dishes before he got there. She shoved mouthful after mouthful of food into her mouth and gulfed it down like a pig.

When her bowl was empty, she began the dishes as she finished chewing. She placed the bowl back into the cupboard and grabbed a larger bowl down for Frank. She placed it next to the stove and then began to finish the rest of the dishes. If she was to finish the dishes before he made it home she was free to go to her room as long as there was warm food waiting for him.

“When’s her birthday?” George asked as he entered the house.

“Ah…” Frank paused. “I’ll have to ask her. I forgot.”

“I want first dibs.” Bobby chuckled “you said she’s still a virgin?” he asked.

“I … oh yeah… I was going to give her out to a few boys first… you know get her in shape for you two…” Frank laughed. “You interested Jake?”

Lilly couldn’t believe her ears. She had never thought Frank would rape her or let anyone else do so. She scurried into her room and hid as the men entered the kitchen. She didn’t want to be here when they were drinking again. Nobody could guess what would happen if she was caught alone with any of them.

She locked her bedroom door and turned the water on as low as possible trying to get some to wash up. She pulled her clothes off and slipped into the tub as it filled. She would be worry free for the next week and she was only going to care about herself.

Lilly’s mind wondered as she washed up in the tub. She didn’t hear the pounding on the door until it was too late. “Get out here you little bitch!” He screamed as he kicked the door free.

“I’ll be right there.” Lilly called and quickly jumped from the tub and began to dry off with the towel.

“What are you doing?” He scowled as he pushed open her bathroom door. “Bobby and George want a dance!” He screamed. “I thought you would be a good choice, now get out there!” He grabbed her damp hair and yanked her out of her room; tossing her as he grabbed her towel. She was naked in a house full of drunk and abusive men.

“Bobby’s boy Jake has come with him tonight, maybe you can give him some alone time!” He chuckled as he whipped her with the towel. He kicked her as she tried to scurry away causing her to fumble onto her stomach.

“Jake, boy, come over here.” He laughed.

“Yes, Mr. Walker?” Jake asked as he entered the hall.

“It’s about time this little girl becomes a woman, take her into her room and have some fun.” He laughed.

“Sure thing,” Jake smirked. He grabbed onto Lilly’s upper arm and dragged her down the hall.

  Chapter 5

“Jake, don’t please,” she whimpered. “please Jake, I’ll do anything” she cried.

He smiled at Frank and nodded his head then slammed the bedroom door. His hand slipped from Lilly’s arm and caressed her hips as he smiled. “Go get dressed,” he said his voice was just over a whisper.

“Jake?” Lilly questioned as she hurried away.

“Don’t make a scene just go.” Jake snapped again his voice husky and quiet.

  “But,” She began.

“I can do this you know.” He snarled. “But really I think I would rather not.”

“Oh God,” she whimpered. “Please don’t tell Frank,” she whined.

“That’s my point now go on before he comes back. I want him to think I took you for a ride, so he won’t make you do something with one of the other guys out there.” Jake shook his head in disgust.

“Thank you.” She sighed in relief.

“Oh…” he smirked, “you’re going to do something alright. Got to look like we got it on you know…” he drawled.

“Crap.” She mumbled as she pulled on a pair of her firm fitting yoga pants, which she would wear to bed. Once she slipped on a shirt, Jake chuckled. “Come over here.” He said holding out his hands.

Jake had always been a jerk but she couldn’t see this side of him being a normal one. Jake gripped her hips and dragged her closer. “What are you going to do to me?” She whimpered.

“Two can play this game. Don’t flatter yourself, I wouldn’t force you.” He shrugged.

  “Really,” She smiled.

“But I am going to make it look like we did.” He raised an eyebrow.

Jake swirled her around and pinned her on the bed. He kissed her cheek and then held her head aside as he sucked on her neck creating a hicky. She squirmed but he continued until he knew it would be leaving a mark.

After he pulled away he messed up her hair and she did the same to him. “I’m going to go out there…” he said “and you get out of here. Don’t come back until they’re gone.” He demanded.
