Chapter 1
Lisa
I was smacked in the face with a bright light begging me to walk towards it. I could hear faint noises in my background, but that bright light kept pulling me in. Following the light, I was led to what looked like a park. The sun was shining, and everyone was smiling while the children’s laughter filled the air. I spotted RJ and Ralph both sitting on a white bench, smiling down at a baby that was in a cradle. Walking over to them, I looked down and stared into the eyes of the most precious baby ever.
“What are you doing here?” Ralph asked, knocking me out of my trance.
“I don’t know. Where am I?” I asked taking a seat next to them on the bench.
“Don’t worry about that baby, I need you to go back, Riley needs you,” Ralph said wrapping his arms around my waist.
I felt myself melt in his warm embrace and there was no way I was letting go.
“What do you mean Riley needs me?” I whispered.
“Baby, just go back,” he begged.
“Who is that baby?” I asked.
“Our daughter, but I got her, go back to Riley,” he said letting me go.
“Oh God Ralph, no.” I fell to the floor and cried.
“It’s ok Lisa, daddy and the baby are ok now,” RJ said kissing me on the cheeks.
“STOP!” I cried reaching for them, but it was as if I was invisible.
I watched RJ run around, as Ralph held on to our baby. I wanted to join them, but I felt something tugging at me. The voice in my background got louder and the images of RJ, Ralph and the baby disappeared.
“She’s stable,” I heard someone say. “Hey, can you hear me? I’m Dr. Robles,” the voice spoke again causing my eyes to flutter.
The bright light burned my eyes causing me to close them and reopen them slowly. Once my vision became clear, I noticed I was in a hospital bed, with five different nurses in my face. I looked around for Ralph, but he wasn’t there. Panic began to set in as I tried to sit up, only to have a bolt of pain shot through my abdomen.
“Take it easy Lisa, you were shot in the stomach,” the funny looking doctor said.
Tears immediately began to pool in my eyes, flooding the pillow. Being shot in the belly confirmed that I lost the baby.
“Where is Ralph?” I asked in a hoarse voice.
“Let’s get you checked out, then we can bring in your family to speak with you,” the doctor replied.
The entire time I was being examined, my mind replayed the dream I had. Although it felt so real, I was praying it was a dream. If I lost Ralph, my world would crumble. How would I explain this to Riley? Oh God, is this what Ralph meant when he told me to look after Riley? I began to panic as questions began to take control of my mind.
“Everything looks as if it’s healing properly,” the doctor spoke. “You took a bullet in the abdomen that unfortunately ended the life of your baby,” he said with a sympathetic look on his face.
“My family please,” I said closing my eyes.
“Yes, I’ll go get them, I’m sorry for your loss.”
The doctor walked out of the room, while the nurse lagged behind to redress my wound. I heard her walk out of the room, then footsteps entering the room.
“Everyone out except Lala,” I said with my eyes still closed.
Lala was the only one I could break down in front of. I was always looked at as the strong one, but in actuality, Lala was the only one who really saw the emotional side of me. I knew everyone meant well, but at the moment, I needed my rider by my side.
I felt the bed dip, as Lala carefully got in bed with me. She wrapped her hands around me and just laid there. I remember when I used to do this to her when she used to cry over a broken heart.
“Remember when you wanted to skip school to be with James and I had to call the school pretending to be your mom in order to excuse your absence.” I laughed, reflecting one of our childhood past times.
“Yes, but then we ended up getting in trouble because we got picked up by cops and they brought us back to school,” she laughed.
“Memories…” my voice trailed off. “Lala you my girl, right?”
“That shouldn’t be a question.”
“You gon’ keep it real no matter how much it may hurt me.”
“Yes.”
“How’s Ralph?” I opened my eyes just to see the expression on her face.
Seeing the tears that fell from her eyes shattered my heart.
“RJ is gone,” she cried.
“Oh God,” I cried, “Is Ralph dead too?”
“No, but he’s unresponsive. The doctors are trying to convince Terri to pull the plugs.”
“What is she saying?” I asked holding my breath.
“Ms. Terri cursed them all out from A to Z. She’s been camping out in his room ever since,” Lala replied, causing me to lightly chuckle.
“I lost the baby,” I whispered.
“I know.”
“How’s Riley?”
“Besides a gunshot wound to the shoulder, she’s fine. They plan to release her tomorrow. Don’t worry I’ll take her home with me until you feel better.”
“I can’t lose him,” I sobbed.
My body began to tremble in fear as I allowed gut wrenching screams to escape my mouth. Nurses rushed into the room to see if everything was ok. Once Lala assured them we were good, they left and Lala got up to lock the door, giving us privacy before climbing back in bed with me.
“Ralph is a fighter,” Lala assured me.
“But the dream seemed so real. I saw him, RJ, and the baby. If they’re gone then… OH GOD,” I cried unable to finish my sentence. I couldn’t speak those heartbreaking words into existence.
Lala didn’t say anything, she just held me tighter. Lala knew me like the back of her hand. She allowed me to vent and cry and all she did was hold me. I wasn’t big on sympathy, nor did I want to hear ‘everything happens for a reason’. All I wanted to do was cleanse my soul in the arms of my right hand.

The clouds were grey and the scenery was gloomy the day of RJ’s funeral. Ralph was still unresponsive and my heart was still heavy, but I owed RJ this much. I went all out for his funeral, just as his father would have done if he were here with us.
Dressed in an all-black Donna Karen pantsuit, my matching black Donna Karen platform pumps hit the floor, as I exited the metallic-black Hummer limo. The driver held open an umbrella to avoid Riley and me from getting wet.
The look on her innocent face was so blank that it started to scare me. The moment I gave her the bad news, she just completely shut down. I couldn’t get her to eat, sleep, or even speak a word or two to me. For her to lose her mother, mother’s girlfriend, and brother all within a year’s time, was too much for her to bear. I decided to have her go to a grief counselor three times a week, to ensure she was coping with the loss of her loved ones properly
.
I allowed Riley to sit in the front row with RJ’s family while I sat in the row behind them. Even though I was engaged to Ralph and very much a part of the family, I didn’t want to intrude. Besides, RJ’s mother, Amber wasn’t easy to get along with. She always expressed to Ralph how she hated to have her son around me. Out of respect for RJ, I decided to stand down. I didn’t want to have to fuck his mother up on the day he was being laid to rest.
The funeral was very emotional and heartbreaking, as they relived moments of RJ’s life. Seeing his beautiful smile in the slide show presentation caused everyone’s eyes to water. A photo of Riley, RJ, Ralph, and I, flashed across the screen and RJ’s mother sucked her teeth. I wasn’t aware that the family photo that we took was a part of the presentation; that was probably something Terri did without my consent.
RJ was in love with music, so I hired a professional marching band to play while we marched to the gravesite. Two white horses carried RJ’s casket as we marched behind them. When we made it to the graveyard, a final prayer was recited, as the customized sports casket was lowered into the ground. Every one threw mini basketballs, footballs, and baseballs, on top of his casket in honor of him.
The scene was beginning to become too much for me, so I started to walk away but I was yanked back by RJ’s mom.
“You think you were his mother bitch?” she yelled punching me in the face. “I was the one that gave birth to him.” She hit me again before I developed the strength of the Hulk and flipped her ass over.
Now wasn’t the time nor place to act a fool, but she took it there. The way I was feeling, I was ready to lay her ass down in one of these graves. I kicked her in the face two times and pulled out my gun. Since the day Ralph and I started dating, this bitch has been a pain in my ass and I was ready to eliminate her ass. Taking the safety off the gun, I was prepared to pull the trigger, until I felt hands gripping my shirt.
I look down to see Riley’s innocent eyes staring at me. I felt like shit for allowing that bitch to take me out of character in front of everyone. Putting the safety back on my gun, I placed it in the small of my back and grabbed Riley’s hand.
“I’m sorry Riley,” I apologized once we got in the limo.
“It’s ok. RJ’s mom is mean anyways,” she shrugged. “When is Daddy coming home?”
“When he gets better,” I replied praying that was true.
“Lisa?”
“Yes?”
“You got me now; I won’t leave you, I promise.”
“Thank you baby.” I bent down and hugged her, staining the back of her black ruffle dress with my tears.
Terri was having a family dinner in honor of RJ at her house, and I decided to stop by only because she begged me to. Everybody sat around in Terri’s family room exchanging memories of RJ while munching on dressing, collard greens, wings, ham, pork chops, ribs, mac and cheese, cornbread, rice, and a variety of desserts. I wasn’t in the mood so I decided to take a seat on the patio.
“You good?” Stacks asked taking a seat next to me, handing me a blunt and a cup of Henny.
“I’ve been better,” I replied putting the blunt to my lips and firing it up. “I want in,” I said in between puffs.
“In on what?” he asked pulling out his personal blunt and firing it up.
“On whatever you got planned. Somebody fucked with my family and that shit ain’t sitting well with me.”
“I can’t let you do that, you need to heal,” he said referring to bullet wound that ended the life of my unborn baby. The more I thought about losing my child, the angrier I got.
“Don’t play me like that Stacks, I want in. You either gonna let me help you or I’ma do it on my own. Either way, I’m killing everybody who I even feel was associated with this shit!”
“You still hard headed,” Stacks chuckled. “Between you and Lala, I don’t know who the worst is.”
“I just want revenge.”
“We all do. Ralph is my brother; RJ was like a second son to me, that baby you lost meant everything to me. I want these motherfuckers as bad as you do, but that’s not going to help you cope with that,” he pointed to my stomach.
He was right. Losing my baby ate my heart up every second of the day. I would sometime find myself rubbing my stomach only to feel the pain of my bullet wound. No amount of dead bodies was going to replace the void in my heart that my unborn baby left.
“What’s the plan?” I asked.
“I got some people working around the clock searching for answers.”
“I’m pulling the trigger.”
“A’ight now gangsta,” Stacks chuckled.
“Thank you.”
“That wasn’t the place or time; Amber is going to get hers when the time comes,” Stacks said.
“Well, let me go grab Riley so we can head home.”
“You sure you don’t want to sleep over?” he offered.
“No, I’m a big girl, I got it, thanks.” I stood up and gave him a hug.
“If you don’t get your hands off my husband, I’ll know something,” Lala laughed.
“Watch it now, she’s packing and you’re pregnant with my baby,” Stacks said grabbing Lala into a warm embrace.
“Lala knows how I get down,” I smiled.
I admired the way Lala complemented Stacks. Lala was dressed in a black and white off the shoulder Prada dress, and Stacks matched her wearing a black and white Armani suit. The love they shared was a love I wanted to share with Ralph. He had to pull through. I was finally able to find happiness and I wasn’t accepting it being snatched from me.
Chapter 2
Rob
Glancing over at Prancer, I still couldn’t believe that she was my sister. Her once beautiful skin was now charred and burnt, thanks to Chad. Although what he did was fucked up, if the tables were turned and it was my grandmother Prancer murdered, I would have done the same, if not worse.
While Prancer talked a mile per minute on a plan that she devised to get back at Chad, I thought of my kids. Not a day goes by I didn’t regret pulling the trigger on Cole. If I were thinking rationally, I would have just beaten his ass and kept it moving; because I acted out of anger, I was forced to suffer. I lost my wife, and my kids. The only thing I could do was hope and pray Ralph didn’t make it out alive, so that I could get my daughter back in one piece.
“Rob, what you think?” Prancer asked me.
“About what?” I asked trying to stomach her appearance.
“I said I could use Kandi to help me get my baby back. Then we can move in on Chad.”
“My beef ain’t really with Chad, that’s my boy.”
“Your boy?” She sucked her teeth. “That nigga probably over there helping Stacks look for you. He not gon’ fuck up his connect for no friendship,” Prancer said making sense.
Ignoring her, I picked up my phone and privately called Honey. I have been doing that for the past few days and every time she would answer, I would hang up. Eventually she is going to catch on and figure out it was me all along; but for now, I just wanted to cherish hearing my baby boy’s cries in the background.
“Hello?” Honey sweetly sang into the phone.
Putting the phone on mute, I waited to hear the coos of my son, only to hear Cole’s bitch ass.
“Bae, who you talking to?” he asked.
“Nobody responded. That’s weird, this shit has been going on for days now,” I heard her say.
“Get your number changed,” he replied before the line went dead.
The thought of Honey changing her number pissed me off. I wasn’t able to set foot near them without catching a few bullets; this was my only form of contact. Deeply sighing, I grabbed the pack of Grabba leaf and the bag of weed that sat on the table, and began rolling up.
Just as I was about to seal my blunt close, there was a knock at the door. Looking out the window, I spotted FedEx dropping a package on my porch and walking off. I waited until the deliveryman drove off, before I opened the doo
r and retrieved the package.
Grabbing the yellow envelope, I tore it open and pulled out a DVD. When I placed it in the DVD player and hit the play button, a naked DC fucking my twin’s mother, popped up on the screen. Both of her hands were ties to the headboard, as he roughly thrust his dick in and out of her. Her screams sent chills through my body as she begged and pleaded for him to stop.
As he was climaxing, he pulled out a sword and chopped her head off. With his dick still in her pussy, he turned to the camera and smiled as he fucked the headless corps. Once he came, he pulled his dick out and took a seat in a chair that was facing the camera.
“You thought this was a game Rob. You let Stacks live and my son is still alive. I want them handled or I will sell your daughters to some rich, white, old lady. I’m giving you one more chance, next time I’m getting rid of your babies.” His evil laughed boomed through the speakers before the screen went black.
“Damn that nigga ice cold,” Prancer said shaking her head.
“Fuck!” I yelled punching the coffee table, shattering the glass.
“What are you going to do?”
“I have to figure out a way to get to those niggas man, I can’t let that sick nigga hurt my kids man,” I said, stress evident in my voice.
“I know exactly who can help.” Prancer smiled grabbing her phone.
At this point, I didn’t give a fuck. I was willing to do anything to get my girls back.
Chapter 3
Honey
Cinnamon, Lala, and I, were all at Lisa’s house spending time with her. Ralph was still in the hospital unresponsive, and every day it seems like the doctors were offering bad news. I knew exactly how she was feeling because not too long ago, I was in the same situation with Cole.
While the ladies sat in the living in silence watching Power, I was in the kitchen making lunch. Lisa was starting to lose weight due to her not eating. All she would do is cry, smoke and sleep. Her once shapely, thick body was starting to disintegrate.
Chopping up the chicken breast, I made chicken tacos and placed them on a platter. I sat everything, along with the condiments, on the patio table so we could sit outside and have lunch.
