“Nah it ain’t that, I just thought their case was solid and wasn’t no way that she would be able to get around it.”

“You should’ve known better, Yameka’s a beast at what she does.”

“You got that shit right, but I ain’t gonna lie. I counted us out too.” Kayson admitted.

“I can’t wait to tell her y’all ain’t got no faith in her.”

“Don’t do that shit, Jaa.” I laughed.

“Watch me,” he joined in on the laughter. It felt good to laugh and joke with them. I couldn’t wait until we were out of these fucking chains and I could hug them niggas. Cookout and eat with them niggas, all that shit. We had to make sure that this shit never happened again ‘cause I don’t think I could handle it.

The rest of the ride to the prison we joked around with the guards and shit, talked about all the shit that we were gonna do once we got out. We didn’t talk about everything though because the first thing on the menu after we spend time with our family was to find Krista and Perry and send them straight to hell.

Once we got to the prison, we were escorted to our old cells to get our shit so that we could be processed out. Usually, they would pack this shit for you but for some reason they requested that we did it. I didn’t give a fuck just so long as I got out this bitch tonight.

“So, I see you won.” I heard Shay say from behind me.

“I see you pulling strings and shit,” I knew right then why I was requested to come clean out my own cell.

“I needed to see you before you left.”

  “The fuck for Shay?”

“I can’t want to see you, Omari.”

“No! You can’t, I’m so glad this shit is over, and I don’t have to deal with your dumb ass anymore.”

“What if I told you I was pregnant?”

“Then I would tell yo’ hoe ass to go find your baby daddy; I strapped up every time.”

“With condoms I provided.” I stopped what I was doing and took a deep breath before I turned around and addressed her.

“Bitch I checked out every condom I put on my shit, so you can take that lie on somewhere.” I pointed at her forehead.

“You can’t see a pin hole.” She smirked.

“But you can see a bullet hole like the one that’s gonna don your forehead if you don’t stop the bullshit.” I looked her dead in the eyes to make sure that she heard me correctly.

  “Wow!” Was all she said.

I chuckled and turned around and finished getting my shit together, ignoring the fuck out of her. I knew she was still standing there because I could hear her breathing all hard like that was supposed to mean something to me.

  “So, it’s just fuck me.”

“YES BITCH, YES GOT DAMN!” I yelled, and a few of the inmates that were in cells close to mine started laughing. “I don’t want you, never have. I used you just like you used me. I thought that I was gonna be in here for ten got damn years, so I wanted to make myself comfortable. Thank you for doing that, but that’s about it. I gotta girl at home who I plan to marry and knock up every time her got damn body releases a fucking egg. You don’t fit into any of that, so I suggest that you go on about your business.

“Fuck you, Omari; I was fucking somebody else anyway!”

“Good!” I turned back around to get my shit right as she punched me in my back. I turned around so fast and ran up on her grabbing her neck, for a second, I forgot that I was about to be getting out of here. I quickly let her go. “Put your hands on me again, and your family will find you floating! Got that shit?” She didn’t say anything. “Got it bitch?”

“Yes!” she hissed. “I wasn’t pregnant by yo’ dumb ass anyway. I’m glad you leaving.” She crossed her arms over her chest and glared at me, and I laughed.

“I’m glad I’m leaving too, peace out Shay.” That was her cue to leave, she grunted and turned on her heels and stomped off. I finished getting my shit together and turned to the other guard who was looking confused as hell. I shrugged my shoulders and followed him off the block so that I could be processed out.

I prayed that Shay had more sense than she showed and stayed the fuck away from me because if not, I was going to be forced to make her ass disappear. I wasn’t about to let that bitch interfere with what I was feeling right now though, I was on a high, and I planned to stay that way.

  Chapter Fourteen

  Kayson

“Youngblood, you out?” Mr. Mason said as I approached my cell. I told them muthafuckas I didn’t want shit from there and that Mason could have it all, but they insisted that I go and make sure.

“Yeah Old School I’m out, but check it, here’s my number, you call me if you need anything and I mean anything even if it’s a pack of cigarettes. I got you for whatever.” He just stared at me, but I was for real. That man helped me through some of the darkest days, and I wanted to make sure that I repaid him if I could.

  “You know I’m good, Youngblood.”

“I didn’t say you weren’t, what I said was let me know if you need anything. Yo’ old ass can’t hear.” I chuckled, and he smirked at me. “All this shit yours and I got about three G's on the books that I’ma transfer over to you and I’ma make sure you straight.”

“You getting out of here is enough for me, I just want you to go and take care of them little soldiers that got ya DNA running through ‘em.” He said smiling at the picture that was on the wall. “Oh, you can kiss that pretty little wife of yours.” He laughed.

“Don’t make me fuck you up.” I pointed at him. “Seriously though, I got you, I might not make it back up here often, so I ain’t gonna make that promise, but you will see me again.”

  “Sounds good, Youngblood.”

“Aight Mr. Mason.” I pounded him out and then walked back out and let the guard know that I was ready.

The walk back up to the holding area so I could be processed out was a long one. I said bye to niggas that I was fucking with while I was locked down. There weren’t many, but I dapped them up and told them to keep their heads up.

The wait to be processed seemed like it took forever, I fucking swear I was about to flip the fuck out. Right when I was about to say something they called my name and told me that I was free to go. Those few words made my fucking day. I was so ready to get out of there and get my hands on my woman and my kids.

The moment I walked out them doors I felt like my life was starting over. I looked out into the parking lot, and the first thing I saw was Jenacia’s beautiful face holding Kyndon. They were identical, but I knew it was Kyndon because that nigga was mischievous and if you put him down his ass was gone. I saw her point at me, and they took off running in my direction.

“Dadadadadadada,” that’s all I could hear. All the outside noise disappeared when I heard my babies call out after me. I ran to meet them half way, and I scooped them up and hugged them for dear life. The feeling of freedom and my boys in my arms brought a nigga to tears, and it didn’t help when Jenacia joined in on the family hug.

“I missed you so much, baby.” She cried.

  “I missed y’all too.”

I held on for dear life until Kyndon started telling me to stop. I had to laugh at his rude little ass. Wasn’t even about to let me have my moment. I let the boys down and grabbed hold of Jenacia and stuck my tongue so far down her throat that I tasted what she ate for dinner last night.

“Damn it, get a fucking room.” I heard Jaako say as he walked out them doors and headed in Yameka’s direction. They connected, and I saw that nigga drop a tear or two even though he tried to wipe that shit up, I saw it.

“Punk ass nigga crying and shit.” Omari was the last one to exit, and I didn’t know how his exchange with Zemia would be, so I said a silent prayer that she didn’t curve his hoe ass and she didn’t. She didn’t run to his ass, and she made him meet her half way, but she showed my brother love. I knew if she hadn’t then it was gonna be some shit out here in the parking lot.

“Well damn, I raised y'all litt
le funky asses,” Mama yelled once we had all embraced our little families. We laughed, and all headed in her direction and rained kisses all over her face. She accepted with open arms. I had hadn’t felt this close to my family in a long time, I just wished that Unc and Denari were here for this. “Aight, aight, let’s go so we can get to the house. Kaylin and Chelley were starting dinner when we left, and I wanna get there and finish up so we can eat as a family.”

“Ma, I was planning on going home.” Jaako looked down at Yameka, and she hit him in the chest and glared at him. “I’m trying to make you another grandbaby.”

“Shut up, Jaako,” Yameka said through clenched teeth.

“Well, you got all the time in the world to do that now. Tonight you are all gonna sit down with ya mama and have a nice meal.” She said with finality.

“Yes, ma’am.” Jaako said with his head down, and we all laughed.

We jumped in the cars and headed home. I hadn’t felt this good in a long time. I was ready to spend some quality time with my family, but I was really ready to get in Jenacia’s guts and possibly make another baby myself.

“Got damn that was a lot of food,” I said rubbing my stomach.

“Brother I’m so glad you’re home,” Kaylin said for the hundredth time.

  “I know, Kay,” I laughed.

“Well I can’t help it,” she smiled. “Now I can get on your nerves and all that jazz.”

“Yeah, I’ll pass.” I laughed at her because she was serious. “I’ma go and give the boys a bath and get them in bed.” I backed up from the table too stuffed to stand up.

“I can do that, baby,” Jenacia said.

“I want to; I haven’t gotten to do that since they were first born.” That reality brought on sadness. I hated to remind myself that I wasn’t there for my kids.

“Well, let’s do it together.” She smiled, and I couldn’t say no to that smile. I nodded my head, and we excused ourselves.

“And don’t be back there fucking,” Omari screamed to our backs.

“You just mad because that’s something yo’ ass won’t be doing.” I yelled back, and you could hear snickers and “ohhhhs” from the table.

“Fuck you.” Omari retorted and I laughed, he was definitely in his feelings now.

We went in the room and got their bath stuff and pajamas out. I went and ran the bath water while she rounded them up. Those two together were wild, Kayson wasn’t as bad as Kyndon’s bad ass, but he could get rowdy when he wanted to. I didn’t know how in the hell that Jenacia did this shit by herself for damn near a year.

“Kyndon stop hitting your brother before he hits your ass back and then what?” I heard Jenacia yell from their room.

“Top top top.” I could hear Kyndon yelling back at Jenacia.

“Kyndon!” I yelled, and I could hear his little heavy ass feet tearing down the hallway.

  “Dadada.”

“You stop hitting Kayson and listen to Mommy, you hear?” He just stared at me, and I was almost positive that he didn’t understand shit that I was talking about, but I still wanted to instill those things in them. “Get yo’ big ass over here.”

I picked him up and started tickling him, and he was laughing and screaming, and out of nowhere here comes Kayson throwing haymakers at my ass and his little ass fist actually had some power behind them. I guess he called himself taking up for his brother, so I snatched his little ass up too, had them both screaming and laughing. This moment right here meant everything to me. I looked up, and Jenacia was standing in the door bawling her eyes out.

“Stop all that crying, girl.” I smiled big to let her know that I was just fucking with her.

“You don’t know how many nights I prayed for this.” Her voice was steady but low. “I can’t lose you again.” She stared into my eyes, and I knew what she meant by that the second she said it. I nodded my head letting her know that I was with her. I don’t know what the hell I was gonna do, but I knew she wanted me out of the game and soon, but this shit was my life.

I didn’t say anything else I just put them in the bath and started getting them all washed up and everything when I heard the doorbell ring. I got up, and Jenacia took my place with the boys. I hit the stairs two at a time, and when I got to the bottom, Omari was opening the door. When that fucking door opened I almost passed the fuck out.

“What the fuck!” I yelled accompanied by Omari and Jaako.

  Chapter Fifteen

  Unc

Sharon informed me that the boys were let out and I couldn’t have been happier. I just knew that Milgram got Krista and Perry out and to the trial before we got up there. When we arrived no one was there, you could tell that they left in a hurry. I called Chris and he said to give him a few days, he was on to something. I wanted them muthafuckas dead but so long as they didn’t make it to court would work for now.

Now for the hard part, I needed to let them know that I was alive and what the hell was going on. I didn’t know how they would feel or act once they found out that I was actually alive and kicking. I knew for a fact that Kayson would take it the hardest because of everything that happened before I “died,” and he will also see it as a form of deception. I just hope that after I tell him what’s up, he will understand that I had to do it all for them.

“You ready to do this man?” Tate asked. Yameka had called him and told him that they were back and at Kayson’s house.

“Nah not really, this shit ain’t gonna go well.” I laughed.

“You already know that, but you had to do what you had to do, so hey.” He shrugged.

“I just hope they understand that.” I took a look at the house and took a deep breath and climbed out of the car and Tate followed suit. I rang the doorbell and knocked. I heard a lot of commotion, but no one answered, so I rang the doorbell again. When the door opened, it was like time stood still.

“What the fuck!” they all said in unison.

I didn’t realize how much I missed these niggas until right this moment. I saw them and looked after them but didn’t have contact with them. Just seeing them brought some emotions out that a nigga wasn’t ready for. Thugs don’t fucking cry but I let a tear slip down my face, but that shit dried right up when Omari started to speak.

“So you mean to tell me that yo’ ass was alive all this time?” I watched as his chest heaved up and down. I kinda knew that they wouldn’t just welcome me with open arms, but damn they talking shit out the gate.

“Listen I can explain, I—” I was cut off.

“You knew about this?” Jaako asked looking past me to Tate.

“Man listen this wasn’t about me, and we had to make moves on your behalf that you just didn’t know about.” Tate tried to explain, but Jaako wasn’t listening.

“So I take it you knew too?” His voice was filled with disappointment as he focused his attention on Yameka.

“What? No, I didn’t know anything about this; I’m just as shocked as you.” You could tell by the look on her face that she was telling the truth but Jaako didn't see anything but deceit and he was gonna take it out on anyone that he thought was a part of it even though she had nothing to do with this.

“Jaako she didn’t know.” I looked in his direction.

“And I should trust you, a dead nigga?” His tone was low, but you could feel the power behind his words.

I just knew that Kayson was going to be the one to flip shit, but he had yet to say a word. He was just standing there staring at me like he wanted to take my head off. I had to be on my toes with that little cocky muthafucka, he had my blood running through him, so I was sure he was about to try me.

“I just need to let y’all in on some shit, the night all that happened I caught wind of some shit going down,” I said and waited to get all of their attention.

I began to tell them what happened that night and what Sharon had told me and if I didn’t do what I did that they would all be under the jail with my black ass. Had I stayed around things would
have been bad for us. I did what I felt I needed to do. I told them all about Agent Milgram and our history and that he was the one behind all of this. Everybody had their eyes on me, but no one said a word.

The look on my sister’s tear stained face was something that I couldn’t read. I knew she was hurt and was gonna be pissed that I kept this shit from her, but I needed her to be on board. I would make all this shit up to them right after getting all of our problems out of the way.

“You didn’t feel the need to let us in on that shit?” Kayson finally said something.

“I needed to make shit look like I was gone for real. I needed y’all to grieve and really think I was gone. They were watching and for them to think that, I needed for y’all to believe it.” They may not have agreed with my decisions, but I did everything for a reason.

“But they still came after us.” Kayson raised his voice.

“That was bad judgement on my part. I just thought after I was gone that Milgram would just move the hell on. I never thought that he would come after y’all. When I saw that he did, I went straight into action, but the shit took longer than I imagined. Milgram had already bought the judge for your trial, so I had to wait until that was over to get a new judge that would overturn that shit.”

“I missed a whole fucking year of my kid's lives,” Kayson said, eyes full of anger and with his fists balled up.

Here it comes. Right as I got the thought out of my head, he came charging at me, but Jaako stepped in and tried to stop him. They wrestled for a minute before I heard little feet running down the stairs. I looked at the two little Kayson look-alikes and couldn’t help but smile; I see why he was pissed the hell off. I would be too.

“Dadadadadadada.” Filled the room and Kayson stopped his tirade and scooped his boys up, one on each side and started talking to them. I felt like a proud dad, watching my son change before my eyes and become the father I never was.

“You can get the fuck out of my house,” Kayson said not even bothering to look up.
