Still holding onto his spike with one hand, she stretched her other hand down the side of his neck and leaned her chest and face against him. Squeezing hard against him, she shouted, "I love you, Kai Long. I love you!"
Kai flung his head back as he flew, loosing a bellow that shivered from his head along his body, down to his tail and through every inch of Gabi's body as well.
They flew for long minutes, Gabi in a delirium of joy. Eventually, Kai gently turned his head back to her, putting the tip of his nose against her leg. She could only see one of his huge green eyes, but she sensed he was trying to tell her something. She had no idea what, but he had asked her to trust him. She did, implicitly.
So she nodded at him, her face still almost split in two by the enormous smile she'd been wearing since the second he lifted off into the air. He nodded back, turned his head, and flew down until they gently skimmed just above the waves of the ocean, his wings dipping in and out.
Then, his only warning another gentle shudder that went through his entire frame, Kai dove both of them down beneath the waves and into the ocean.
Gabi couldn't help opening her mouth in what started as a gasping scream, and simply turned into gasping joy as they dove into the beautiful ocean she had loved her entire life.
It was as if she had a bubble around her. A bubble that wasn't keeping her dry, no, she was definitely soaked from her hair down to her toes, but she somehow was breathing air. She was still on Kai, holding onto him.
And she could see clearly. She could see the underwater forests of kelp, schools of colored fish, canyons and hills and cliffs and clefts, and the occasional dark lump that they sped by too quickly but she wondered if was perhaps another ancient shipwreck beneath the sea.
Kai had taken her into his element so she could experience it just like he did.
Gabi laughed and yelled into her crazy air bubble, "This is the most amazing thing ever!"
Another slight shiver went through Kai. She sensed he was about to do something else. Still wildly grinning, she gripped harder onto his spike just before he sent them into a spinning, whirling torpedo motion through the ocean.
Kai boomed out another dragon roar that echoed through the water as they spun through it. Gabi's stunned laughter joined his call. She'd never before felt so alive. They swam under the ocean for what she was sure were miles before he surfaced into the air again. He spun straight up out of the water, skimmed over the top, dove back in, came up again. They raced and bobbed over and beneath the waves in this fashion for several more miles, Gabi's heart pounding with exhilaration as she clutched her mate close.
Finally, Kai stopped. Bobbing in the waves, he reached back to gently nuzzle her again with his head. Then, with a slipping splash, she was off of him as his enormous form disappeared and the gorgeous human man was there instead. Treading water, Gabi flung her arms around her wet, salty mate. She kissed him thoroughly as their legs tangled together, gently churning beneath the waves.
"What do you say to all this so far, mate?" Kai growled playfully, every inch of his hard length pressed against hers in the water.
Gabi grinned as the incredible beauty of a marvelous future with this man spread before her. "I think, mate," she said, a giggle tickling beneath her words as the gentle waves lightly splashed around them, "that you'd better get me back to dry land and a soft, nice bed where you can have your wicked way with me." She grinned at her incredible dragon shifter man.
As the rising moon's silvery light spilled all around them, Kai kissed her again, long and deep and wild and all hers. Her dragon shifter man.
"Anything you say, Gabi. My mate,” he whispered against her lips, the rumble of his dragon still ringing in his voice. “The most treasured mate of my heart, now and forever."
