He raised his brow as I picked up my overnight bag.
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“You’ll know when we go back to your place. You think you can wait that long?” I asked in a seductive tone.
“I can. The question is, can you?” he asked, pushing me against the door again. He raised my dress up, and his hand moved to my panties. He breathed into my hair while rubbing my clit, making me even more horny.
“Or we can skip the club and go to my place,” he suggested. “I think Simone will understand.”
I was about to say yes, but I knew I wouldn’t hear the end of it if we skipped Simone’s performance.
The momentum was quickly building, and I was about to climax. But instead of finishing, Mark pulled down my panties, dropped down to his knees, and finished me off with his tongue. At that moment, I think I died and went to heaven.
I got myself together, and we were now heading to The Soul Player. We held hands the entire drive as we talked about our days at work. Since we were both off for the next two days, we planned to do a lot together, including our dinner. I told Simone I was going to be spending my off days at Mark’s, and she didn’t mind. Not only did I bring my overnight bag but also my laptop so I could apply for jobs. I told Mark what I was doing, so he didn’t mind giving me time to do it. He had a few things he needed to take care of for the restaurant during his time off, so it worked out perfectly.
I was also excited that Mark pushed the dinner to tomorrow. I was looking forward to watching him cook and tasting the entire meal. The thought of it was already making me hungry. I think he was also a little excited to be cooking again, so it would be a great evening.
We pulled up to the front of the club to use the valet. Since we were Simone’s guests, we were rolling in VIP, which I always enjoyed.
We walked in and saw that the place was already packed. After we found the table that Simone reserved for us, I texted her, letting her know that we’d arrived then sat back and listened to the music. I smiled when one of my favorite songs, “Crush” by Yuna and Usher came on. Mark looked at me and grinned.
“What’s with the beautiful smile?” he asked.
“I just love this song.”
“Let’s dance to it, then,” he suggested as he took my hand. I glanced at him as we went to an area away from the crowd. He pulled me into his arms, and I put mine around him. I lay my head on his chest, taking in his cologne. God, he smelled good.
I listened to the lyrics and thought about my own situation with Mark. I'd never thought about it, but this song describes us perfectly.
When I looked up at him, he leaned down to kiss me. I didn’t know what this feeling I had for him was; it could be infatuation, lust, or actually love. But whatever it is, I don’t want it to end. He's definitely helped me see that there are actually some good men out there and that I don't have to run and hide just because one man hurt me. Instead, I can live and be happy.
He pulled away from me and softly caressed my cheek. I leaned into him again, not wanting him to see me tear up, but he probably would know once his shirt got wet.
“Is everything okay?”
“Yeah; I was just thinking about something.”
Mark was looking at me with a concerned expression when I heard a voice I didn’t want to hear, especially not now.
“Hello, Vanessa.”
I looked over and saw Hamilton and his wife coming over to us. I closed my eyes, wishing this wasn’t happening. Mark held me tighter.
“Hamilton,” I replied coldly.
“Isn’t it a small world? Who would have thought we would be meeting like this?” Hamilton asked with a smirk.
I tried not to roll my eyes, especially since his clueless wife, Destiny, never knew that we'd had an affair. He knew damn well that I would be here since Simone performs on Saturday nights. He also knew since we used to come here for our date nights.
“Vanessa, it’s really good to see you. How is everything?” Destiny asked with a bright smile. I hate to admit it, but I actually felt sorry for her.
"Everything’s fine, Destiny; thank you for asking. How’s your daughter, Vanessa?” I asked, looking at Hamilton.
“She’s quite well, thank you. I still find it a little strange that she’s named after you, but I did tell Hamilton to suggest a name, and he did.”
“Oh, I’m sure,” I quipped. I could feel my blood pressure rising, as Mark caressed my back.
“How is your new job at Suds working for you? I know it must have been a big adjustment since you were making great money when you were under me, right? Remember those times when you were under me? I know I do,” he taunted with a devious grin.
I turned my nose up and tried not to go off on him. How could he be so disrespectful in front of his wife and my man? Idiot!
I glanced at Mark, who was lightly gripping my arm. I knew he wanted to finish what he started at Simone’s, but this wasn’t the time nor the place to do it.
“She doing quite well,” Mark interjected. “Now, we were spending some alone time together, something I’m sure you and your wife would like to do. So if you'll excuse us, we’re going to get back to our evening. Good night.” He turned his back to them.
Hamilton laughed since he was trying to make a scene, but Destiny pulled him away from us. She gave me a heated glance, before going to the other side of the VIP section. For a second there, I think she had a feeling about the two of us.
I didn’t even want to look at Mark, because I didn't know if he caught what Hamilton was actually saying, but by the look on his face, I don’t think he did.
“What an asshole! I can’t believe you were with someone like him.”
“Yeah, me either,” I mumbled.
“Don't let him ruin our night. Just ignore them; we’re have a good time.”
“I will.”
“Besides, I’ve seen Simone perform, and she puts on a hell of a show; I know she won’t disappoint tonight.”
“You're damn right.”
We turned around and saw Simone approaching us. She looked beautiful, dressed in a navy blue sheath dress. Her curly hair was in a messy bun, and some of her curls framed her face. She gave each of us a hug.
“When have you seen Simone perform?” I asked. I've attended the majority of Simone’s performances, so I'm sure I would've seen Mark.
“It was only a couple of times, but I came with a few co-workers from Suds. You were probably up here in VIP, so you wouldn’t have seen me.”
“Oh, maybe so,” I whispered.
“I saw the little scene between you two and Hamilton’s dirty ass. I can’t believe he’s here.”
“Why is he here?” I asked.
“I don’t know. I know the table he’s sitting at is owned by Marcus Murow. He’s a huge business owner in the city, mainly clubs, though. He’s actually part owner of this club; I’m not sure why he’s meeting with him.”
We watched Hamilton and Marcus talked. Hamilton looked over at us and waved.
“I really hope he’s not trying to make a stake in this club. If he is, I can kiss my gig goodbye.”
“I wouldn’t worry too much. He’s not going to do anything about what happened that night, especially since his wife is present,” Mark pointed out.
“Well, I'd better go. You’re not coming back to the house, right?” she asked me.
“No, why?”
“Just wondering. Enjoy your night, you two,” she told us then headed downstairs. I watched her walk off, wondering what that was about. Mark put his arm around my waist, and I smiled.
“She’s right, you know. We should enjoy our night; so stop thinking about that slimeball, okay? He’s not worth your time.”
I turned around and kissed him. “You’re right. The only thing I’m thinking about is having a great time with you now and after we leave here.”
“Definitely. But are you sure you want to? We don’t have to.”
I put my arms around
him and kissed him again. “I’m positive, Mark. I want us to have a night full of hot, passionate, sweaty sex.”
He kissed me again, and my body instantly responded. His hands firmly gripped my ass, and he whispered the things he wanted to do to me in my ear. Yes, I definitely couldn’t wait to leave.
I could feel Hamilton staring at us, but I didn’t care. He'd lost his chance with me, so I wished he would move on with his life. I have, and now, everything is much brighter.
Mark
Simone did a phenomenal job on her set, covering a few past and current songs. She even threw in some songs that she'd written herself. She’s truly talented, and she’ll definitely be going places soon. I watched Vanessa; she was in awe of her friend. She sung along to some of the songs and was Simone’s loudest cheerleader.
Before we left, I stopped by the restroom. When I walked in, I saw Hamilton at one of the urinals. I took a deep breath before going to one further away from him.
“Simone did good, didn’t she? She’s a crazy woman, but she can definitely blow.”
“Why are you even talking to me?” I asked in an annoyed voice. I just wanted to handle my business, not have a conversation. Especially not with him.
“I was just making conversation.”
“Please don't.”
“Fine, be that way,” he said and flushed. He went to the sink to wash his hands. I walked over to another sink to do the same as he looked at me.
“You know, Vanessa is a special woman. I don’t know how long you two have been together, but just know that she’ll always have a place in my heart.”
“Shouldn't you be concerned about your wife?”
“I am; I’m just letting you know that Vanessa and I shared something special. I won't ever forget that.”
“You’re right, Vanessa is special, and I’ll treat her like the queen she is. Unlike some men.”
Hamilton nodded. “I deserved that. I did hurt her, but I was in a tough situation. You should understand that.”
“I may have done some things in the past, but I would never dishonor my marriage vows. You led an innocent woman to thin that you were single and that she was your one and only. That’s selfish and disrespectful.”
“You don't know the entire situation. I was having problems with my wife back then, and Vanessa helped me get through it.”
“I've wasted enough time with you. I’m going to spend the rest of the evening with my woman. So, good night.”
I was about to leave, but Hamilton said something that made me stop in my tracks.
“I’m surprised Vanessa told you the entire story about us. In fact, I’m surprised she's even dating someone else from her job, since she vowed that she wouldn't.”
“It’s no big secret that the two of you worked together. So what?”
“Did she tell you that I was the person who employed her? She used to work for my company, DuRow Industries. I was her boss.”
I didn’t believe him. He smirked and kept talking. “I guess she didn’t tell you. I'll also assume she didn’t mention that even after she learned the truth, she kept seeing me. We found ways to see each other: hotels, motels, even my office. I have to tell you, that woman is a freak. But I’m sure you know that, right? She was willing and able to do whatever I wanted, however I wanted,” he finished with a satisfied smirk.
“You know, if you were a real man, which you’re not, you wouldn't be giving me details about your past relationships, especially to someone who’s currently with the woman you supposedly love. But I knew that you loving her was a lie since you treated Vanessa like she was some whore. I’ll do everything you couldn’t do for her and more, so despite what you’re trying to do, it’s not working, because Vanessa will be with me. Got it? Now go back to your wife where you need to be. I have plans with my girlfriend.”
I walked out of the restroom, wishing I had punched him out, but I knew we’d eventually cross paths again.
I went back to VIP where I saw Vanessa sitting at our table. She gave me a concerned look. “Is everything okay?”
“Yeah, I just ran into your ex in the restroom.”
“I’m really sorry, Mark. What did he want?”
“Was he your boss?”
She just stared at me as I sat beside her and continued, “Why didn't you tell me?”
“Why would I? I didn't want you to think less of me.”
“V, why would I? It was a little surprising when I heard it, but it wouldn’t have changed how I felt about you. I didn’t want to hear about your past from him. We've had this talk about honesty; we shouldn’t hide things from each other.”
Vanessa sighed. “I know, and I’m sorry.”
I put her hands into mine and looked at her. “Baby, I’m not upset with you. I just wish you would’ve told me instead of hearing it from him. That's all.”
“Simone told me I should have, but I felt guilty enough that I messed around with him knowing he was my boss, and then later after finding out he was married.”
“I can understand that, but that’s life, V. We all make mistakes we wish we could take back, but we can’t. Instead, it’s just a lesson learned. Believe me, I've had a lot of those.”
I leaned forward and put my forehead against hers. “We’re not going to let this ruin our night, okay? We’re still going to have fun, complete with massages, a lot of foreplay, and experiencing our first time together. Are you ready for that?”
Vanessa smiled. “Definitely.”
“Let’s go then.”
We got up and headed to the door. Hamilton looked at me with a half-smile. I ignored him as I opened the door for Vanessa. I wasn’t going to let that jackass ruin our night. Hopefully, Hamilton wouldn’t continue to be a problem for us; but if he was, I’d be waiting for him. And once I’m pushed to the limit, I won’t be holding anything back.
Vanessa
I stared out the window, hating how slowly the night was going. First, Hamilton showed his sorry behind at The Soul Player and purposely tried to ruin the evening. He almost succeeded when he told Mark that he was my former boss. While Mark was trying not to let it get to him, I could tell it was, because he didn’t say too much during the ride to his place. That’s why I didn’t want to tell him; I knew he would have an issue with it.
I looked down inside my overnight bag and saw that I forgot my phone charger. I sighed; I needed it since Mark and I had different phones. He glanced at me when I sighed again.
“What’s wrong?” he asked.
“I left my charger at the house. Is it okay if we go there before heading to your place?”
“No problem,” he answered and made a left turn.
I touched his shoulder, and he quickly glanced at me. “Are you sure you’re okay about everything? I know you said you were, but you've barely said anything to me since we've been in the car.”
“V, I just have a lot on my mind; it has nothing to do with what happened earlier. We already discussed it, so let it go.”
“Why are you getting upset?”
“I’m not upset.”
“I can hear it in your voice, Mark.”
He pulled over at a convenience store and parked his truck. He leaned towards me and gave me a kiss that literally made my heart race. I bit his bottom lip, and he pulled me closer. He stared into my eyes and put his hand in my hair.
“Did that convince you? We've talked about it, and I’m cool. Now, can we drop the subject and look forward to our evening together?”
I smiled. “Okay.”
He squeezed my hand lightly before starting his truck again. When we got to Simone's, Mark was about to get out of the truck, but I stopped him.
“It won’t take long. I’m just going to grab my charger, and I’ll be out.”
“Okay.”
I got out and went to the front door. I opened it, revealing complete darkness. I knew I left the hall lamp on before leaving so Simone wouldn’t be in the dark when she returned. I was about to turn it b
ack on when I heard noises coming from the living room. I was about to just forget about my charger and leave, but I heard Simone say an unexpected name, and I completely froze.
My heart started racing as I leaned against the wall, trying to make sure I heard right. I looked at the door; I needed to get out of there, but I heard Simone call my name.
“Vanessa! What are you doing here?!”
I looked at Simone, wondering what she was even doing here in the first place. She must have left the club as soon as Mark and I did.
