“Nick?” The kid’s voice still blew her away.
Graig nodded. “He recorded this in Dante’s infirmary.”
She gave a derisive snort. “Bet Dante had a cow.”
“Very nearly,” he chuckled. “Dance?”
“I would love to.”
He slid her down the length of his hard, muscular body until her toes touched the ground. Then her space cowboy danced them home.

To my Dear Readers:
Thank you for the privilege of entertaining you for a while. I hope you enjoyed reading Alex and Gryf’s story. I started writing Prophecy when I was in high school. At the time I was testing my wings and not very confident. But, I knew two things: 1. I'd wanted to be a writer since I was in 3rd grade; 2. I loved science fiction romance.
But, after many stops and starts, the story seemed to fizzle. I finally chalked it up to being one of my “practice pieces” and put it away.
Flash forward thirty-something years, Alex and a certain blue-skinned, white-haired alien dropped into a fevered dream for a visit. Next thing I knew, I was sitting at the computer madly typing even though I had a 102 temperature. That was three years ago. Now Prophecy is a completed manuscript, and has been released on the unsuspecting universe (a terrifying prospect for me, but hopefully a wonderful experience for you).
It’s appropriate that Alex and Gryf’s story is the first book I’ve published. These two characters were my first “babies”—even before my own real-time children came along—and I have loved them since their inception.
If you want to spend more time in their world, then I have great news for you. Nick’s story is in full swing and is scheduled to be released Summer 2016. Salvation picks up six years after the Anferthian invasion. Lives are on the line, and Nick must come to terms with the Gift he’s managed to studiously deny for far too long. I don’t want to give away too much, but Dante will be back, and K’rona returns with her dissenters.
Keep an eye on my website and other social media sites for excerpts and progress reports for Salvation. Also, I’ve included a special chapter from Prophecy at the end of all this back matter. My gift to you.
Until next time, happy reading!

As with any achievement in life, this one would not exist without the help and/or support of dozens of wonderful people.
~ My family. My parents and sister, who have cheered me on even when I got so involved I forgot to call or visit. My husband and kids, who endured the messes and the questionable meals so I could make a memorable and positive first impression as a debut author.
~ My critique
partners. Dena and Dianne, who have been with me since before the start of this insanity. Carolyn and Peg, who read the first blundering attempts at a beginning and didn’t beat around the bush to spare my feelings. Beth, JuNelle, and Melissa, who never complained about the rereads and kept me from wandering off this path.
~ My beta-readers. Rachel, Laurie, Dawn, Janet…and, of course, Taron (for the “guy” perspective).
~ My cover artist. Dani, who just knew exactly what I wanted, even though I didn’t.
~ My editors. Sue and Laurel, who both know how to use their red pens! Any, errors, in this book, are completely, on me.
~ My proofreaders. Pippa and Stephanie who inspired and validated me, and held my feet to the fire…or in the fire.
~ My formatter. Nina of Seaside Publications, who is a dream to work with.
~ My “sisters” in the SFA-RWA and the SFR Brigade whose support goes above and beyond. My first online class instructor, Karen, and Kickass Chicks Karen and Steph J., who helped me craft the blurb.
~ My friends. All of you who have helped, supported, and listened to me over the last three years—and there’s a ton of you—you are my cheerleaders.
I couldn’t have done it without you. THANK YOU!
About the Author
Lea Kirk loves to transport her readers to other worlds with her romances of science fiction and time travel. Her fascination with science fiction began at six years old when her dad introduced her to the original Star Trek TV series. She fell in love with the show, and was even known to run through her parents’ house wearing the tunic top of her red knit pantsuit and her white go-go boots pretending to be Lieutenant Uhura. By nine years old she knew she wanted to be a writer, and in her teens she read her first romance and was hooked.
Ms. Kirk lives in Northern California with her wonderful hubby of twenty-five years and their five kids (aka, the nerd herd). She’s also proud of her seven times great grandson. Apparently her stories will serve as the inspiration for James T. to join Star Fleet Academy. She learned this in the 1980’s when James sought out her counsel on where to find a pair of humpback whales.
