Oh, hell, he thought. They were probably used to different types of people showing up at their parents’ apartment at all times of the day and night. This probably wasn’t very different to them, although these people were certainly nicer—even if they were vampires. He thought about the many times he’d gotten calls to pick the kids up. Sometimes he’d watch them for the day and overnight. He’d even had them at his house for days when their parents had gone away with friends to get high.
When Rory looked around, he found himself at the grouping of trees closest to the house. He could still see the house, but felt away from things. His fatigue hit him and he decided to sit down under one of the trees. After leaning against the trunk, he closed his eyes. Visions of William as a child popped into his mind, but they didn’t make Rory cry. The memories were happy ones and he smiled. Then he thought about some of the things he’d told Samuel and he cringed.
THE TWINS WERE in their carrier on the floor in front of the fainting couch while Samuel read to Aileen, who’d positioned herself comfortably in his lap. Their ages were different, but the grouping of kids couldn’t help but remind Samuel of his siblings. They’d been two boys and a girl too. As he read aloud, Samuel looked at the children’s faces. They looked so much like Rory that anyone would think they were his children rather than his grandchildren.
I’ve got a full-fledged family now, Samuel thought. They haven’t been around here even a week and already I can’t imagine my life without Rory and the kids. For a minute his mind wandered to Angus and mentally he thanked him for releasing him from the promises he’d made him.
“Dada,” Aileen said.
“You’ll see Dada in a bit, sweetie.” He chuckled when he saw Aileen scowl at him then he hugged her. She giggled and he smiled. Things felt so right that it scared Samuel a little.
RORY ALTERNATED BETWEEN feeling at peace and happy to feeling stressed and stupid. He loved being at Samuel’s home, and was scared that he actually thought of it as his home too.
I’m a grown man, Rory thought. I need to know and see Samuel through the eyes of a man not those of a lonely boy desperate to be loved. As much as he tried to think more reasonably when it came to Samuel, his heart still seemed filled with an abundance of love. He pinched himself hard to make himself snap out of those thoughts, then relaxed again. Taking a deep breath of fresh air, he smiled and slowly exhaled. Life is good. In spite of everything, life is good. Despite the tragic circumstance with William Rory knew things had taken a turn for the better. For the first time in a very long while he could live his life and Will’s children would have a normal childhood. He’d been there for his son and he would be there for the kids but he wasn’t going to mess up his chance at attaining happiness and joy. A deep desire rose up inside him to see Samuel and the kids. The desire turned into a need, but he was too tired to get up, so he closed his eyes to rest. A soft breeze blew through his hair and when Rory opened his eyes he saw Samuel. He had he twins in their dual carrier in one hand and Aileen in his other arm.
“Dada, Dada,” Aileen said, practically jumping from Samuel’s arms.
Rory reached up and took his granddaughter, now daughter, from Samuel. Samuel sat next to Rory with the twins by his side.
“You called,” Samuel said.
“You knew my innermost thoughts,” Rory said. “I’m glad.” He rested his head on Samuel’s shoulder.”
“Dada,” Aileen said, pointing toward the house then the tree they were leaning against.
“You went on a quick trip, huh,” Rory said to Aileen. “Did you have fun?”
Aileen shook her head then giggled and Rory and Samuel laughed.
“That giggle is one of the cutest things I’ve ever heard,” Samuel said, then kissed the top of Rory’s head. For a second he blocked his thoughts from Rory and wondered if the deep need Rory had to be loved would be a problem.
“I can’t help that,” Rory said. “More than anything else in this world I’ve always wanted to be loved by you.”
“You read my thoughts,” Samuel said. “That shouldn’t have happened.”
“Sorry,” Rory said.
“No, you don’t understand, Rory. I did my best to block those thoughts from you. There’s no way you should’ve been able to pick them up. And you don’t look like you were even trying to.”
“I wasn’t. They just came through loud and clear as if you were talking to me. You’re afraid because of how much you like my need to be loved by you. And how much you know I love you.”
“Afraid is too strong a word,” Samuel said. “I like how ‘we’ feel as a family. The five of us. And I believe in us, but it’s all happened so quickly. Does it normally happen so quick?”
“You’ve lived longer than I have,” Rory said. “In my opinion it does happen quickly, but what do I know? Let’s stop questioning everything and just be.”
“That is very good advice,” Samuel said then put his arms around Rory and Aileen.
Since Aileen started to squirm restlessly, Rory put her down on the grass so she could run around. One of the twins screeched loudly so Samuel took him out of the carrier and handed him to Rory then released the other twin from his prison. Rory chuckled as he and Samuel bounced and rocked the boys in their arms.
“Look at all of us barefoot in the grass like a family of country bumpkins,” Rory said.
“No,” Samuel said, “like a family that’s carefree and happy.” He kissed Rory deeply, letting his tongue slip inside his mouth.
“Mmm,” Rory said, then began kissing the side of Samuel’s neck. For a minute he thought he could hear the blood flowing through Samuel’s veins.
“You’re hungry, that’s why you feel so weak and tired,” Samuel said. He lay Sean in the carrier and removed his T-shirt. “Be discreet, so the kids don’t notice and bite my neck. The fangs will come out on their own when it’s time.”
Rory put Lochlan in the dual carrier next to his brother and Lochlan began to fuss.
“He’ll be alright, this won’t take long,” Samuel said.
“OK,” Rory said, as he slid his hand down Samuel’s smooth chest. He began to nibble on the side of Samuel’s neck. The taste of him was so good it almost made Rory dizzy. Instinctively he began to nibble harder, digging into the surface of the skin with his teeth. Then it happened. The strange sensation of fangs descending down from his gums. They went through Samuel’s skin like a knife through butter.
Rory sucked hard on his neck and Samuel could feel the blood leaving him. Until this moment he’d never found the act of being fed on or feeding very erotic. But with Rory things were different. Samuel heard himself moan in pleasure and got momentarily embarrassed. Then realization hit him. It was ridiculous to be embarrassed with the man he loved who loved him back. When Rory stopped drinking, Samuel spoke.
“Bite your finger enough to bleed and seal my neck wound with your blood.”
Rory did so then looked at his handiwork. “I didn’t take too much, did I?”
“No,” Samuel said, then picked up Lochlan. “Hey there, sorry we ignored you for a minute, but Dada had to eat.”
After picking up Sean, Rory looked for Aileen. She’d been distracted picking wild flowers.
“If Aileen had been in danger you would’ve known instantly,” Samuel said. “We both would’ve known.”
“That’s good to know because I felt completely engulfed in you.”
They stayed outside playing with the kids and chasing Aileen until the sun went down then they headed back in the house to feed the kids.
“Our little ones need a bath before bed,” Rory said while they were all still in the kitchen.
Samuel walked around with Lochlan on his shoulder. He patted Lochlan’s back in an effort to make him burp and was rewarded by one large burp then another. “Aileen can have a bath in the tub. There’s a baby tub in the guest room for the boys. I saw it when I helped Celia change the twins earlier.”
“It’s nice to have an extra
set of hands to help,” Rory said. “I think you’re a keeper.”
“I better be,” Samuel said.
THE KIDS WERE bathed but still not quite ready to sleep, so Samuel and Rory took them outside to the porch swing. It did the trick and they were able to put all three kids to bed after about twenty minutes. Samuel took a shower then put on a robe and went back outside while Rory showered.
Rory put on a robe he found in Samuel’s closet then walked outside.
“Hi, stranger,” Samuel said when he saw Rory. “There’s room in the swing. Unless you’re sleepy and want to go to bed.”
“Actually, while I showered I thought about something you said earlier.”
“What?” Samuel said.
“Something about getting into mischief.”
Chapter 32
Just Two
THE KIDS WERE sleeping, and the night was pleasant and quiet, except for the sound of a few crickets. Rory and Samuel had their corner of the world all to themselves, and neither one of them held back from what they wanted most—each other.
Samuel’s kiss started off soft, but got more and more passionate. He’d found Rory’s tongue and sucked on that until he freed it and started nibbling on Rory’s neck.
“I guess vampires can have sex,” Rory said
“We can,” Samuel said. “Why don’t we take this to the guest bedroom?” He stood then reached for Rory’s hand. “You do know that maybe you should’ve asked the sex question before you decided to turn.”
Rory held Samuel’s hand, got up from the swing, and chuckled. “I probably should have, but nothing seemed to matter at the time except you.”
They tiptoed into the house so as not to wake the kids then walked to the guest bedroom that hadn’t been redone by Veronique. After quickly removing their robes they got into the bed and attacked one another like ravenous men.
Moonlight came in from one of the windows where the curtains weren’t fully closed. It illuminated Rory’s body and Samuel took a moment to look at him. Rory had a slim physique with a smooth chest and just a light sprinkling of hair on his legs. Samuel turned Rory onto his stomach then slid his hand down Rory’s spine and across his pale, round, smooth ass. He kissed it then his hand felt the muscles in Rory’s strong legs before his finger tickled Rory’s foot.
Rory chuckled. He liked the feel of Samuel’s strong hand firmly on his body. When he turned onto his side he found himself looking into Samuel’s eyes and kissed him.
“What color was your hair before?” Samuel asked.
“Not black like yours,” Rory said before running his hands through Samuel’s hair. “You have beautiful hair. Mine used to be plain old brown..”
“I like the silver color,” Samuel said as his fingers encircled Rory’s hard right nipple. “We met at the perfect time. If I’d turned a younger you into a vampire it would’ve been too soon. I would never have gotten to see your silver hair.” He kissed Rory’s lips, neck, then nipple.
Rory’s moans of pleasure encouraged Samuel to go further. He left a trail of soft kisses down Rory’s chest, inhaled deeply when he got to Rory’s pubic hair, then teasingly licked around the head of Rory’s erect cock.
“There’s something I’ve always wanted to try,” Samuel said. “But only with your permission.”
“You have my permission,” Rory said.
“Hmm, don’t you even care to know what I’m wanting to do?”
“I’m yours to do with what you want,” Rory said.
Samuel was taken aback and deeply touched by what Rory had said. He began to suck on Rory’s cock. The sounds of pleasure coming from Rory made Samuel feel better than ever. It also made him want him more than anyone he’d ever been with before. As hard as Samuel sucked, his fangs never manifested themselves. His body knew it wasn’t feeding time… not yet. But his nostrils could smell the blood and it was intoxicating.
Rory closed his eyes in order to better focus on every move Samuel made. The way his mouth felt on his cock almost brought him to the edge, but then things stopped. Rory opened his eyes when he felt Samuel’s mouth between his inner leg and crotch. He couldn’t resist moaning. As the sucking got harder, Rory covered his mouth as to not wake the kids. When the fangs came out and pierced his skin, he closed his eyes again and gripped the sheet with his hands. His body raised itself to meet Samuel’s lips, giving itself to him as almost an offering… and Samuel took it greedily.
After several minutes, Samuel forced himself away from Rory’s crotch. He made his way back up to Rory’s lips and they kissed more intensely than before.
“I love you, Rory, and I’m yours too. Anything you want from me… take.”
After turning his body to the right position in order to be face to face with Samuel’s erect cock, Rory lapped at the head with his tongue. Samuel’s cock wasn’t as dark as Rory’s, in fact it was almost white. The color of it enticed Rory as did the pale veins on it. The alabaster color cock and black hair around it made a striking combination. As Rory sucked on Samuel’s cock, Samuel worked on Rory’s.”
They’d been at it for a while, so it didn’t take long for both of them to cum. Rory marveled at how much Samuel’s cum tasted like him, clearly his heightened vampire taste buds were at work.
“We need to eat, babe,” Samuel said as he rose from bed and gave Rory a hand up.
“I do feel hungry enough to drain a cow,” Rory said and chuckled.
“Drinking that much blood might make you as crazy as one of the newby vamps Vasilius’ people have been making,” Samuel said.
“Can vampires get drunk on blood? Or can they drink too much and blow up or something?”
“We don’t blow up… I don’t think,” Samuel said, and smiled. “Actually, I’m pretty sure we don’t blow up. Drunk is not really the right word to describe what happens when we drink too much blood. Since blood is our source of energy, too much can make us hyperactive. We’d be able to run faster and fight harder like the newby vamps, but at some point we’d come crashing down.”
“But we wouldn’t burn out from within like the newby vampires, would we?”
“No. That only happens to them because they were improperly sired… on purpose.”
“You once talked to me about how vampires probably use more of their minds than mortals. Could drinking too much blood on purpose open up even more of our minds.”
“That’s a possibility, I suppose,” Samuel said. “I’m glad you said the word ‘our’ in that second sentence. It means you see yourself as one of us… no longer alone.”
Rory hugged Samuel and Samuel put his arm around him as they walked into the kitchen. The kids were still sleeping so they didn’t bother to put their robes back on. Samuel opened the refrigerator door and pulled out a glass container of blood.
“You don’t feel the need for a lock or anything on the fridge?” Rory said.
“No, we can always sense when someone is around that might be after our blood supplies. Do you think we’ll need a lock on it when the kids are older?”
“No, we’ll just make it clear that some things are not for them to drink. The fridge will have to be stocked with human food for them.”
“True,” Samuel said. “By the way, there’s milk in here for the boys and food for Aileen.”
“I really am part of a family now, aren’t I?”
Samuel kissed Rory before responding. “You are.”
They drank a glass of blood each then returned to the guest bedroom with renewed energy. Rory sat on the corner of the bed and Samuel sat on his lap with his legs around his waist.
“Did I ever tell you I’m versatile in bed?” Samuel said. “And it’s been a while since I’ve been fucked.”
THEY’D GONE BACK to the master bedroom to sleep when they were done since they didn’t want Aileen to wake up alone and feel abandoned. Rory was accustomed to waking early but felt so good nestled in Samuel’s arms that he didn’t stir when sunlight began to fill the room and woke Aileen up.
<
br /> “Dada, Dada!”
Rory got out of bed and walked to Aileen dressed in a T-shirt and boxers. He picked Aileen up but she still fussed and Samuel heard her and sat up. Aileen pointed toward Samuel and spoke.
“Dada, Dada!”
“Bring her here, before she wakes the twins,” Samuel said.
Aileen calmed down when she slipped into bed between Rory and Samuel.
“She called you Dada,” Rory said in a low voice. “That could get confusing.”
“Sorry about that,” Samuel said also in a low voice so as not to wake the twins. “Maybe uncle or something else.”
“Is this a permanent situation?” Rory said. “Our living here—me and you?”
“If I’m understanding the question right… yes. You’re not on one knee, but the answer is definitely yes.”
“OK, then,” Rory said. “By the way, I’m glad we decided to both wear T-shirts and boxers to bed, Samuel.” He put his hand on Samuel’s shoulder then looked at Aileen who was looking at the two of them. “Aileen, sweetie, this is your new daddy. I’m Dadda and this is da…ddy.”
“Di…di!” Aileen said and giggled. “Di… di, di… di!”
She woke her brothers up with the last “di… di”.
“Sorry if we’ve woken you up earlier than usual, Samuel,” Rory said.
“That’s no problem,” Samuel said. “A di… di’s work is never done. Besides, I’m a farmer’s son I’m used to getting up at daybreak.
AFTER CHANGING THE twins’ diapers, and helping Aileen with her morning rituals, the two new dads and their family headed to the kitchen to make breakfast.
“We probably need a high chair for Aileen and something for the boys,” Samuel said.
“I’ll go by the store in a bit,” Rory said.
“Feel free to leave the kids here,” Samuel said. “Shopping might be easier without them.”
