Dad frowns but doesn’t say anything. He can never get a word in when the three of us are together.
“Have you met any nice men? I was telling your father he should set you up with one of the guys at the club. There’s bound to be someone who’d want to date you. You’re a catch.”
“Actually, I met someone. We had a date on Sunday and we’re doing dinner tomorrow. I was supposed to see him tonight, but I chose to spend time with you instead.” It’s not totally untrue.
“Well.” She grins. “Why didn’t you say so?”
I roll my eyes. Like she gives anyone a chance to speak.
“Is he a nice career man? Because your father has a lot of contacts.”
I shake my head and down my wine. I’m going to need a miracle to survive this meal.
Our food arrives, and Mom finally stops talking to chew her food. Dad hasn’t spoken one word. She means well, really, but tonight she’s in rare form. It’s been a non-stop onslaught since I sat down.
My phone vibrates from my purse, but I don’t dare take the call or message at the table. Lord knows what my mother would have to say about my poor manners.
I excuse myself to the restroom praying she doesn’t suggest we go together. When I get up from my seat and she doesn’t budge I say a silent thank you.
Weston
Sir, I know you said not to disturb you, but Mr. Pike’s wife is on the line for you. She said it was urgent.”
“It always is.” I sigh. “Put her through.”
Straightening my tie, I wait for the transfer.
I hear her breathe into the phone speaker. “Mrs. Pike, to what do I owe the pleasure?”
“We need to talk. I have reservations at Wynega’s. Seven tonight.”
“You’re in town?”
“I flew in this morning. I apologize for such short notice and would like to say I’d understand if you have other plans, but this meeting really needs to happen tonight.”
I don’t like people demanding things from me. She’s lucky I wasn’t meeting up with Brooke or I’d tell her to fuck off.
“I’ll be there.”
“Good. Thanks. This is important, Mr. Hunter.”
The line goes dead, and I let out a frustrated growl. This meeting better not have anything to do with her hands and my ass or I’ll assign them to Maxwell. I owe that fucker, anyway.
I’ll admit, it’s unusual for her to request a dinner meeting on short notice.
Gathering up my belongings, I meet Brodie at the elevator and we ride down together.
“Where are you off to?” I ask.
“Home. Think I’m still feeling my hangover from the weekend.”
I laugh. He’s always been the good one. Never been a heavy drinker. Always eager to beat me at everything but never succeeding.
“Amateur.” I grin.
“Whatever. Did you fuck that hot piece of ass the other night?”
“Don’t call her that.”
He squints at me then waves his hand over my face. “Hello? Weston, bro, are you in there? Did aliens take over your body?” He chuckles.
“Smartass.” I shake my head. “She’s different.”
He stares. “Kryptonite pussy. It’s the only explanation for this.”
“What?” My brother may be book smart but sometimes I swear he’s an idiot. He says the weirdest shit.
“The one pussy that can bring you to your knees. It’s from Superman. Jesus Christ.”
I think about it for a second. Maybe he has a point. “Kryptonite pussy, huh?”
“Better get away now, before it destroys you.”
I make it to Wynega’s and arrive before Carol. I walk to the bar to enjoy a scotch while I wait. People-watching always fascinates me anyway. People are strange and stupid. That’s when I see her. Brooke with a middle-aged couple. They must be her parents.
Pulling out my phone, I snicker. I can’t resist the temptation to tease her.
Weston: Looks like you need some meat on that plate.
A moment later she gets up, walking in the direction of the bathrooms.
I finish my drink and place the rocks glass back on the bar.
Then, I stalk after my prey.
The bathroom door closes behind her and I wait a moment to see if anyone else comes out.
My phone vibrates in my pocket.
Brooke: Are you following me?
Weston: I’d call it fate, but you don’t believe in that…
I don’t wait for a response. I push the bathroom door open and find Brooke sitting on a padded bench that takes up the left wall.
She glances up and our eyes meet.
“Jesus Christ.”
I don’t allow her the opportunity to get another word out. I pull her up and into my body, claiming her mouth. After a few long seconds, our kiss breaks.
“I can’t seem to stay away.”
“I don’t know what to say.”
“Don’t say anything. I’m meeting a client. Just wanted to kiss you.”
I turn to leave and catch her touching her lips in the reflection from the mirror. I smirk to myself. Maybe I have kryptonite cock.
When I go back to the bar, the bartender informs me my table is ready and my companion has arrived.
I follow the Hostess to the table, greet Carol, and take my seat. Brooke is on the other side of the dining room, and I don’t have a good view of her. It’s probably for the best. I don’t need any distractions right now. I don’t have a good feeling about this meeting.
Carol’s face is neutral. She’s usually all smiles and acts like she walks on sunshine.
“You seem different.”
“I’ve been reevaluating my life.” She takes a sip of water and looks at her lap.
“How do I factor into this?”
“You represent my husband and his interests. It’s important you have all the facts. He has a mistress. Not one of his usual flings. I think he may actually love this one. She’s having his child. I kicked him out on his ass, and I need to think about what I want for a change.”
Where the fuck is that server with my drink? I take a large drink of water and scan the room hoping someone will rescue me from this disaster.
“So, what do you want?”
“I want to ruin him.”
“And you expect me to help you? You know he’s my client. I shouldn’t be discussing any of this with you.”
“I’m hoping you’ll represent me. I stand to gain everything. I emailed you a copy of our prenup, he knows what’s at stake. I thought I could live with it but I can’t.”
This is a complication I wasn’t expecting.
“Why come to me with this? There are others who would gladly take your case.”
She extends her hand across the table and squeezes mine. “I think it’s pretty obvious. We could have everything we want and more.”
I slide my hand away, not sure how to play this whole thing. Technically, I represent his company, and if she’s set to gain a controlling interest… Fuck, this got complicated, not to mention she looks like she wants to fuck me on the table right now. Regardless, I have to tread carefully. It’s a huge account for my firm.
“I think you need some time to think. And you should know I can’t be bought.”
She laughs. “Please. You’re the most bought and paid for man in this city. And if you can’t handle it, I’ll find someone who will.”
“I guess I’ll see you in court then.”
Her red painted lips stretch into a broad and proud grin. “I knew you’d see things my way.”
“You aren’t understanding me. I’ll see you in court when I represent your husband. I don’t know what kind of game you’re playing but I’m nobody’s pawn. Good luck.” I push my chair out and leave her sitting alone with her mouth wide open.
Fuck, that family. They need to get their shit together over there. Goddamn billionaires always need a babysitter.
As I walk to my car I see Brooke getting into
hers. I start to approach her, but stop myself, or she really might think I’m a stalker. I need to quit while I am ahead.
Fucking Pike. His marriage is complicated. A marriage of convenience and money. I know what the prenuptial agreement states. I advised him on it. It might make me an asshole, but he’s my client, and I have to do what best suits him. It’s why he pays me so damn well.
When I get in my car I dial his private line on speaker phone.
“Don’t tell me where you are or what you’re doing. Just be at my office tomorrow morning. I had a conversation with your wife.”
“Okay.”
I end the call and drive to my building.
Brooke
If fate does keep bringing Weston and I together then fate is a sneaky bastard. I can’t believe he came into the bathroom just to kiss me. He’s confusing. He says one thing then does another. I never expected to hear from him. I thought he would be done after he got what he wanted. I have to admit, it’s incredibly flattering being pursued.
I don’t want to screw whatever this is up. We have chemistry, there’s no doubting it, but I don’t even know the guy. Sex is what I thought I wanted, but now I’m not so sure things will ever be casual between us.
I’m supposed to meet him at the Four Seasons. Only problem is, my parents are in town and that’s where they’re staying. I don’t want them to see me sneak out of some guy’s room after a booty call. Because that’s exactly what this is. It isn’t a date. I guess it’s a date to have sex, which seems weird too. I’ve never planned sex before. I’m so new to all of this. I want to ask Misty for advice, but considering she’s having her boss’s baby, I hardly think she’s the best source.
And he came inside me.
I shudder at what could already be happening in my body. Not to mention the fact that I liked it when he did. I liked it a lot.
I stand in my bedroom getting ready. I feel strong and sexy and seductive. I glance at my reflection in the mirror. I bought new lingerie when I was on my lunch break just for tonight. I hope Weston will like it. I hope it’s not too much, or too forward.
I’m taking a leap and trying to do this without involving my heart.
With any luck, my parents will be in their room or out somewhere with friends. After my mom’s behavior last night, I’m in no hurry to see her any time soon.
Slipping on my favorite little black dress, I grab my coat and step back into my heels.
I send a text to Weston to confirm the room number. I know I shouldn’t be nervous. We’ve already done pretty much everything. I guess it’s nerves, seeing as I’m going there with the sole purpose for him to put his cock inside me.
I mean, do I just knock on the door and start taking my clothes off once he invites me inside? Will he already be naked?
I’m overthinking this. It’s what I do. And I’m the one who came up with these rules. What in the hell are we supposed to talk about? Will there even be any talking?
Brooke: On my way. What room is it?
Weston: I’ll meet you in the bar.
My stomach twists with excitement and anxiety.
I need a shot to calm myself down, loosen me up.
The valet takes my car and I make a quick run to the restroom to do another once over with my makeup. I don’t want to show up with lipstick on my teeth. That would be unfortunate.
I stare at myself in the mirror.
Okay, I can do this.
It’s just sex with a man I’ve already slept with. No big deal.
I spot Weston at the bar the moment I walk in. He has his back to me, but I recognize his profile as he turns to order a drink.
I approach him slowly, enjoying seeing him when he doesn’t know I’m watching. I saw him yesterday with his client. He didn’t seem happy about the meeting. Today, he seems much more relaxed as he takes a swig from a rocks glass.
I slide onto the stool to his left and order a dirty martini, emphasis on the dirty.
“A drink that suits you.” His eyes wander to mine and I light up with flames.
“Hi.” I exhale the word as he takes my hand and brings it to his mouth, dropping a kiss on my knuckles.
“Hey.” He offers me a sexy smirk. One that says I’m so going to do bad things to you. My body comes alive and screams hell yes and a warmth funnels straight down to my core.
I swirl the olive stick around in my glass before taking a sip.
Weston watches me closely as I pop one of the olives into my mouth. It might be the smoothest thing I’ve ever done in my life. Damn, I’m good. He appears to be enjoying it.
“Mmm.” I stifle a moan. “So good.”
“I know something better.” His mouth seems to always find my ear.
“What’s that?” For the first time I take him in. Head-to-toe in his suit. Not just any suit either. This one’s been tailored to fit him like a glove. I wouldn’t mind going to court as much if I had him to stare at all day.
He exhales his warm breath in my ear. “This pussy.” His hand finds my inner thigh, and he lifts it so high his fingertips graze the edge of my entrance. “Riding my face.” He smirks.
Goosebumps pebble down the backs of my arms, and despite the fact we’re in public, I try to lower myself onto his hand.
He removes it before I can get the friction I need. I’m nothing but a hot mess. About to melt into a puddle on the floor. He grins at the way he affects me. “Upstairs. Now.” He doesn’t just say it in my ear. No, Weston growls the shit, and his voice is masculine as all hell and pure gravel.
I don’t hesitate to slide off the stool. I swear he’s conditioned me somehow, because I’m like Pavlov’s Dog, responding to anything he does with complete obedience.
His hand goes to the small of my back as he guides me to the elevators.
“You look—fuck, just fuck.”
My heart kicks into overdrive, thumping against my ribs. I make him speechless. There’s something about knowing I have at least a little power over him, that keeps me walking into his arms no matter what.
“Brooke, sweetheart. Were you coming to see us? Is this the new boyfriend you told us about?”
I freeze.
Fuck. Fuck. Shitfuck.
My voice catches in my throat when I try to respond. I make some kind of sound that’s best described as a jumbled gasp.
“You must be Brooke’s parents. She’s told me so much about you two. I’m Weston. Pleasure to meet you.” He holds his hand out to my father and I try not to faint.
I told him nothing personal about me, other than I’m a lawyer, and now I’m introducing him to my folks.
“Will you be joining us for dinner? We only made reservations for two, but I’m sure they can scoot some tables together.”
There is no way in hell I am subjecting Weston to a meal with her.
I clear my throat. “Actually, umm, we already ate.”
Weston leans in my ear and whispers where they can’t hear. “I haven’t eaten—yet.” He leans back up while I try not to wobble in my heels, on my legs that are now Jello. “Yeah, sorry about that. Maybe another time?”
“Yeah, some, uhh, other time.”
“Sweetie, are you okay? You look a little flushed.” Mom stares at me.
Weston grins. “It’s okay. She’ll be in good hands.”
“Oh, all right. Call me later.” Mom takes a step away. “Wow, he’s so handsome.” She gives me a thumbs up, and I think I might die.
Once the door closes Weston corners me against the wall. He’s looking at me with those sexy dark eyes, and I might lose it. This has to be what going crazy feels like.
“You’re hot when you’re flustered.” He sucks my bottom lip between his teeth, nipping at the skin. “So, who’s this new guy you’re seeing?”
“Don’t tease me. You don’t know my mom.”
“First of all.” He holds up a finger. “There will be more teasing than you or that sweet pussy can handle.” He licks at my lips, getting me to part for him, th
en kisses me deep. When he breaks our embrace, he leans back with raised eyebrows. “You told your mom about me.”
I’m going to bite that smirk off his face.
“She was pressuring me to meet someone my dad knows. I had to tell her something.” I tug on his tie, wrapping it around my fist. I pull him closer, never wanting him that far away the rest of the night.
“You know what this means, right?”
The elevator stops and the doors open to our floor.
He sucks down my throat, not giving a shit who may be watching.
I gasp at his hot mouth on my neck. “It’s going to cost me, isn’t it?”
“You bet your sweet fucking ass it is.” He nips at my ear. “Now, you owe me dinner and a movie.”
“Against. Rules.” I can’t even form a whole sentence.
“Rules never stop me.” He rakes his gaze up and down my body. “From getting what I want.”
He leads me down the hallway, damn near at a power-walking pace. As soon as the door to the suite latches shut, Weston is on me.
I pull back. “What are we doing?”
Somehow, he spins me chest-first against the wall and yanks my dress up over my ass in one smooth motion. “I’m about to listen to you moan my name.”
I push back against him, my mind not totally gone yet. “You know what I mean.”
His hand wraps around my neck, and he kisses along my collar bone. “Brooke?”
“Yeah?”
“Shut up and let me eat this pussy.” His palm smacks against my entrance.
I jolt forward.
Then he rips the expensive underwear right off me.
“Okay.” I nod, surprised I got the word out.
“Better.” He works me with his hand, massaging me, teasing my clit with his fingertips. “We need to get you out of this dress.” He moves his hands to my back and tugs down the zipper as he walks me backwards toward the bed. “And on my face.”
I’ve never been in the presidential suite before. It’s incredibly beautiful and may be larger than my apartment.
The white bedspread is covered in red rose petals. Tealight candles are the only thing illuminating the room.
I spin around. “You did all this for me?”
