The two friends made the customary Daakie handshake and Allen bid him farewell. Before gathering his staff to head back to Colossus, Allen motioned for Colonel Hammer to come to him.
Jak saw his commander’s motion and excused himself from a pouting empress and hurried over to his admiral. When he stood next to him he said, “Yes, sir.”
“I am ordering my staff back to Colossus. I guess you won’t be coming with us, huh?”
“No, sir, Unless you are ordering me to go with you.”
“No, I will not issue such an order and you want to know why Colonel?”
“Sir?”
“Your one true love, as she calls you, would without a doubt not be pleased if you notified her that you weren't staying the night with her and we both know she is not accustomed to not being pleased.”
Jak smiled and said, “See there, Admiral. Not much escapes you, sir, and I’m positive that is just one of the many qualities that you have that this Colonel doesn't have, and why you were the only Fleet Commander suitable to command the search for our new world.”
“I appreciate that butt kiss, Jak, but before I dismiss you, you do know that when it is time for Colossus to begin the search again I will be ordering you to complete the obligation you signed on for before leaving Mars, don’t you?”
“I wouldn’t expect anything else, Admiral.”
On the last night before Colossus was to begin the journey further into the Expanse of the Perseus Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy, was Colonel Hammer and Empress Katin was locked in an embrace after making love.
They had fallen to sleep holding each other, then Katin woke and wanted to talk to Jak. But first, she moved away from Jak and walked into her huge closet and brought out what on Earth would be called a male’s smoking jacket.
The jacket had been a gift from Empress Kyno and she was told by Tui the jacket was to be given to her one true love whenever she found him. She walked back to the bed and jostled Jak enough to wake him.
He woke up and looked his beautiful mate in the eyes, then looked at the jacket laying on her lap and said, “What is that?
“Just a little something to cover you before I call my physician in.”
“Why do you need a doctor?”
“I don’t, she will be for you.”
Jak looked surprised and said, “Why do I need a physician?”
“As a test of your undying love for me, I would ask that you allow me to have my physician insert a device no larger than a small diamond, under your skin that will let me know where you are. The insertion is painless my love and it would please me greatly.
“Not only does the device let me know where you are, but it will also let me know you are still alive by signaling your heart is still beating. In case you are wondering where the device will be inserted, it will be between two toes. Shall I call my physician?”
Well, shit. Why not? Jak thought then got out of bed standing completely naked and put on the jacket. Katin put her arms around his waist, looked up and into his eyes and said, “You are precious, Colonel Jak Hammer, and I thank the Mountain of Orin you are mine.”
The following morning the Armada consisting of three Daakie Zurguts with King Gorvik and Queen Junal on board, the eight Daakie transports which would stay far away from any engagements, one-hundred Aborian Predators commanded by High Mage Cina, and five Raptors commanded by Tage Doni, took off for Planet Daak.
Looking out of a window in Admiral Allen’s private quarters was Allen and Dr. Stavens, as they watched the Armada begin jumping into hyperspace. When the last ship disappeared, Victoria said, “I do wish them luck. It is extremely important for the Daakie to gain control of their planet again.”
“I also wish them luck. But I can’t shake the thought of when the Hive has obtained a location of a world they know holds a food source, as well as an important tactical location, what is to stop them from returning?”
“That is a scary thought, Arvin. That question could very well be something we will have to prepare for when we find and secure our new home.”
An hour later the Colossus jumped further into the Expanse, in their continuing search for a new home for the Human Race.

If you love thrillers then take a look at my four-book series titled New Madrid. It is a story about the lesser known New Madrid Faultline which extends from Louisiana to southern Indiana in the central part of the United States. Geologists say because of the sandy soil in that part of the United States if the New Madrid ever erupts again as it did in 1802 the amount of damage would be ten times more damaging than any future eruption from the well known and documented San Andreas Fault line.
FYI: Should you give New Madrid a try I have a fan page on facebook for my readers to comment on the books. I love feedback from my readers. The page is facebook.com/newmadridfanclub.
