“You can take me, huh?” Dragos smirked, looking dangerous as hell.
To our enemies, this look, his demeanor, and his tone might’ve been scary, something that invoked fear. For me, it made me want him even more.
“Mr. Demir, the children are in the next room. You cannot.” I didn’t even get a chance to finish my sentence as he scooped me up and placed me on the counter.
“Mrs. Demir,” Dragos began as he nipped my jaw, hard, causing me to wince. “If you’re quiet, how can they hear you? What are nannies and the other children’s parents for?”
“Dragos…”
I warned yet sighed as I felt his fingertips graze my inner thigh. I threw my head back, loving the feel of his fingers taking special care of me. No one could do it like Dragos—love me, care for me, make me call his name in a thousand different ways and tones.
“Shhh…” The feel of his lips on my jaw working their way to his favorite spot on my neck combined with me seeing stars with the pleasure he was giving me had me lost.
“You don’t know how much I love seeing you like this. In your most natural state, lost in all that is me, Neema. I want you to give me what I’m asking for right now. Show me that you’ve still got me wrapped around your fingers just like this…”
If I didn’t know what Dragos meant, the minute he hooked his fingers, he kissed me hard. I released every part of me to him while masking my moans through his delicious kisses.

Dragos gave me some time to compose myself as he cleaned me up with his tongue, making sure he didn’t miss any spots. Dragos ran a hand through his hair then took me off the counter, placing me on my feet.
“You’re ready now, Mrs. Demir. Lead the way.” Dragos gave me a devilish smile as he stepped out of the way.
I rolled my eyes as I made my way towards the family room that Amir’s birthday was being hosted in. When I walked in, Amir was the first to spot me.
“My new mama is here!” he shouted. He had started calling me that after the wedding, and I couldn’t be more overjoyed.
I smiled.
“Happy Birthday, baby,” I said to him as he ran towards me.
I crouched down, accepting his hug. It was so warm, so inviting, and there was nothing that I would trade his hugs for in this world.
“I love you, new mama. You know what I wished for?” Amir whispered in my ear. I knew how he worked by now, so I let him speak.
“I wished for a sister. I know that I’ll get one. Papa told me that if I pray for something, then I’ll get it. I miss him. Can we go see Papa? You said he lives far from us, but not that far because you said the plane is like an hour or two. Let’s go see him soon, okay? I want to sit with him and beat him at push-ups. I almost got him last time.”
I laughed, hugging Amir even tighter.
“Anything for my baby. We can go see my dad anytime you want, and yeah, you always got him at the push-ups. As for your wish, I think it’ll come true too.”
Amir kissed my cheek, making me realize this time around everything was much more perfect. If Dragos and I thought that the first time we were together was perfect, we had lied to ourselves. I would never want this any other way. I peered up, seeing Dragos as he was talking to one of the kid’s dad. As if I summoned him, he looked my way. He had the biggest smile on his face, and it didn’t go unmatched.
I love you, I mouthed to him.
I love you too, he winked at me.
We healed. We made it. Our words, our hearts, everything in our life, all made sense now because we wanted it to. We learned to look past our pain, comfort each other, and accept that we were now different people who still loved each other even harder than before.
