Reviews and Other REALLY Important Info

As you’ve just read, Zed finally found his happy place. I hope you liked the ending on this book as much as I did. It was surprisingly satisfying to leave him on that hilltop with Steph feeling genuinely happy after having dragged him through so much heartache and so much shit.

I can’t say if or when I’ll write a follow up—a Slow Burn 10—maybe in a year or so. I don’t know. But for right now, I like living with the idea that Zed and Murphy are safe and happy.

  Let the memes begin.

And the weirdest thing about that is I have felt a real and constant anxiety growing throughout the series (seriously), and having left them in Balmorhea—drinking spring water, eating pecans, and watching the sunsets—I felt that stress simply melt away. It’s as if I unexpectedly got the news that a real-live friend, battling cancer for the past two years, had miraculously been cured.

I know, strange. But like you, I’ve grown that attached to these characters. So Zed and Murphy are taking a little siesta.

Moving along. I hope the first part of the “Final Business” section doesn’t negatively affect the second part.

Here’s that time where I always asked pretty-please for you to take a moment and go back to the website where you purchased your copy of the book and leave a review. It truly makes a huge difference for us indie authors when readers take the time to do so.

Click here to find a preview for Black Rust, which should be posted about a week or so after the release of Slow Burn 9. The book will be available June 18th, 2016. If you like it, you can pre-order it from some of the ebook retailers but not all. And for those of you haven’t pre-ordered before, you don’t actually get charged until the book releases and it downloads to your device. Hey, I didn’t know that until about a year ago and I’ve been pre-ordering books for years.

And here’s that link to pre-order if you want:

  Thanks for reading!

Here are links to the first books in a few of my other series in case you’re interested.

  The Last Survivors – http://smarturl.it/TheLastSurvivors

A collaborative series with fellow zombie author T.W. Piperbrook, this series has a little more of a Sci-Fi feel. It explores what happens 300 years in the future after the apocalypse, when man has rebuilt and gone back to an almost medieval society.

  Ebola K – http://smarturl.it/EbolaK-1

A really great terrorism thriller with a bazillion reviews. It focuses on the recent Ebola outbreak and the possibility of weaponized Ebola by terrorist organizations. Not the heart-pounding action of Slow Burn book but a little more in-depth and complex. This series follows an American college student teaching in Uganda as the country comes under attack from the deadly virus as he tries to make his way back to the States.

It’s also historically accurate, so you’ll learn a little about the history of the disease as well…did you know that Ebola has been airborne in the US in the past? Or that it can survive in semen for 90 days or more after a person is declared “Ebola-free?”

  Dusty’s Diary – http://smarturl.it/DustysDiary

Fun and crass but be careful if you’re easily offended. Has some great advice about what to pack in your post-apocalyptic bunker (don’t forget the porn!). Dusty’s Diary has an uncertain future…people like it, but I haven’t decided what to do with it yet.
