  What? Chicken....

He put the coffee pot on the stove, turned it on, then faced me with a casual lean on the counter. “How's that sound?”

I stared at him in my dripping wet panties trying to decide how to respond. Laugh, cry, get angry? What would get him to finish what he started? Begging was on my tongue but I refused it, I wasn't all out of pride. Yet.

“Sounds nice.” The words actually sounded just as casual and it gave me a little confidence to play his game. Whatever it was. Hard to get? “Did you ask me to get on this counter for a reason?”

His sexy mouth broke into a slow grin. “To look at you.” His eyes dropped to the breast visible to him. “While I cook.”

Oh that scrumptious god of a man. “Well let me give you a better view.”

I swiveled so that my body faced the stove. “Are you sure you don't want my panties off?” I studied his oh so blank features carefully, looking for cracks in the facade.

  “I'm sure.”

Ohhh Mister coolio huh? My clit tingled, evidently liking this game.

We both managed to play it all the way till it was time to eat. He approached the square snackbar with my fork and I got up to get the glasses for drinks. It was more than I could resist. I caressed the giant hard on that strained in his jeans as I passed.

The next thing I know, I'm up against the sink and his tongue is deep in my mouth, my leg is hiked up, and his hand slipping inside my panties. His finger plunged inside me and I cried out, holding on to his shoulders, nearly fainting as he delivered those sharp jabs, deep as he could get. I let my head fall back. His other hand grabbed the back of my hair and held tight while his hot mouth made suction on my neck and his finger rammed mercilessly. I took it, moans growing louder with each thrust, fingers digging into his shoulders, legs giving way.

Suddenly, his finger slid out and he yanked my panties down, clear to my ankles. I kicked free of them while he undid his pants. The fire in those blue eyes made me tremble and grip the counter behind me in anticipation. As soon as he stepped clear of his jeans, he grabbed my arm and pulled me against him. I gasped into his chest and he lifted me by my upper thighs till I straddled his waist. His mouth dove to my breasts and suddenly my back was against the fridge. He nibbled my nipple and I squeezed his hard body between my legs and arched my back, giving him a mouthful. “Yes! Yes!”

His hands held my waist and lowered me. “Look at me.”

My heart raced as I stared into his eyes, the head of his erection poised right inside my dripping entrance. He held my gaze tight. God I loved that he did that. I squirmed, trying to lower myself. He remained poised and leaned in and placed a soft kiss on the edge of my mouth. I devoured his lips, so hungry. “Please Johnny. I need you inside me, please.”

He gasped at my words and gave it. God did he give it, all at once and entirely.

I screamed from the intensity of having his giant cock filling me up, hitting that amazing place his finger had just tormented. His growl rumbled through my fingers splayed over his chest. He remained buried in me, his head back, chest heaving. Lord how I loved that he nearly came on the first thrust. I clamped his cock with my muscles, moaning for it now. His heated gaze found mine again and my stomach flipped at the look in his eyes. I'm going to fuck you really good it warned.

I gasped a moan and reached behind me. My trembling fingers found the top of the fridge and latched on. He looked down between us and slowly pulled out, watching, then plunged back in, bringing another scream of pleasure. His eyes raised and found me staring right at him, my mouth open in astonished agony and need. He held my gaze and began. Long, steady strokes, not too deep. My mouth remained open as he stared into my face and pumped his cock into me. “You’re so beautiful,” I gasped.

Torment filled his face and his lips crashed down on mine, his thrusts deepening. I cried out right in his mouth and he devoured it while driving his cock faster. Things fell off the fridge and crashed to the floor while Johnny's gasps met mine, his body slick against me. He grabbed the sides of the fridge and pumped his hips so that I bounced on his cock. I held on, letting my body drop lower, needing the feel of his body smacking hard against me.

  “Jewel! God, yes!”

I screamed my pleasure as he fucked me frantically. He spun and slammed his back against the fridge while holding me close. He roared as he pulled out and spurt his hot cum between us. I held fast to his shoulders and kissed him the second his lips were in my reach. Oh yes, Johnny Blue, yes. My turn to devour your gasps.

Satisfied moans purred out of me as he carefully walked us into the living room and sat on the couch with me still straddling his waist. I smoothed my fingers over the trembling muscles in his arms and shoulders, smiling at him. “That was the best chicken friccasse I've ever had.”

Still winded, his eyelids slitted halfway with a sexy grin. “It wasn't exactly what I had in mind.”

I knew he meant the sexual tease. “You know what they say,” I leaned and kissed his glowing slick forehead, “can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.”

He grabbed my face with both hands and kissed me deeply until I whimpered in his mouth. “You cheated,” he whispered on my lips.

  I smiled a little. “How?”

He shook his head slightly. “Too damn beautiful.”

Joy warmed me everywhere and I gave in to a huge smile.

His own smile broadened at seeing it. “What idiot neglected to make you aware of that obvious fact?”

My smile somehow grew and I giggled from the stupid feeling his words gave me. I shrugged a shoulder. “That would be my ex.” For the first time, I didn't feel pain saying his name or thinking about him.

His face hardened. “Ahh, yeah. I'd like to thank the bastard for being the stupidest man on earth.” He stroked my face, and pulled me to his lips, kissing me with heartbreaking tenderness. “I hate knowing he hurt you. I want to kill him now.”

I held his face and kissed him, letting my tongue and lips tell him how much that meant to me.

“Mmm, you're welcome.” He sucked my lower lip between his. “Anytime and forever.”

  I froze at his words.

His thumb stroked my face. “What... A little forever doesn't scare you, does it?”

I pulled back just a little, and looked at him. “Doesn't it scare you?” I fought to sound calm.

His countenance went serious. “No. Not with you. Nothing scares me when I'm with you.”

His whisper slid like silk through me as my heart tried to beat right out of my chest at what all that could mean. “What are you saying Johnny B?”

He grabbed my face and pulled my lips to his. “Don't panic, I'm only saying you give me courage, I'm not asking you to marry me.”

Just the words shot a debilitating thrill through me. Right alongside the stabbing ache of how ridiculous that idea sounded to him. Of course it was ridiculous, why would a man like him want to marry somebody like me? But it was hard to hold on to the pain with his lips kissing mine with such tenderness and reverence.

Johnny Blue. What on earth are you doing to me?

I broke the kiss, curious. “Why did you dress like a bum all this time?”

He acted offended. “Bum? Those were my artist threads.”

“And was that your artsy homeless grocery buggy?” I placed my arms on his shoulders and twirled my fingers in the hair at his neck.

He chuckled. “Old man Parson said I should use it to carry my supplies.” His sexy grin peeked out. “Couldn’t be rude and refuse him.”

I shook my head, smiling. “Why are you here, anyway? Coloring our town?”

His smile softened. “I needed a break from the city life. And the demands of deadlines and work.”

“So you paint for a living?”

He shrugged. “Yeah, you could say that.” His hands kneaded my waist. “What about you? This your home town?”

Funny we should be having this basic before sex conversation after. I lowered my g
aze to his chest with a nod. “Born and raised.”

“Glad I chose this little town.” His voice deepened to husky as his hands slid up and down my sides.

I bit my lower lip, looking into his eyes. “Me too.”

He got that serious look he sometimes had when studying me. “You’re not like other women.”

I snorted softly. “You keep saying that.”

“I’m serious. I saw it in you the first time we met.”

I grew sober back. “Saw what?” Couldn’t help getting worried at what that meant. Were my skeletons showing?

His eyes took on a thoughtful look. “Just…your aura. It’s clean and gentle and…” he met my gaze, “…pure.”

I swallowed, pushing the guilt of my past back. “I’m none of those things. You need your aura eyes checked.” It came out light hearted, but I was more serious than ever.

“Where is this husband of yours?”

I looked right, not wanting to get personal. Not about my life. “He’s in town. Remarried.”

“I’d say I’m sorry but…” I met his gaze and his hands gently grasped either side of my head and pulled me to his lips. He paused where our breaths mingled. “I’m so not sorry.” He pushed my lips open with his and tasted. At first sweetly, then hungrier with every breath. “Any kids?”

I froze then slowly pulled away and forced a casual nod. “Two.”

I lifted my eyes enough to see his soft smile. “Nice. I’d like to meet them. Someday.”

My heart raced. “I’m sure you will. They’d…really like you.”

I gasped at feeling his cock growing between us. His hands held my hips. “Make love to me Jewel.”

I closed my eyes, letting his words chase away the nightmares of my past. Let his need give me reason to live.

I made love to him and he rubbed my clit and nipples looking for all the world like I was some miracle riding him.

  But he was the miracle.

I was just a damn curse waiting to happen.

  Chapter Seven

I swear if you don’t tell me this instance, Jewel Marie, who or what has put that ridiculous smile on your face, I am going to pop you with my dishtowel,” Trisha said to me.

I giggled and bit my lower lip, getting everything I needed for the second brew of coffee that morning. I glanced over my shoulder at Sarah who blushed at all the details I’d told her about my painting session.

“Oh my, who in God’s gracious glorious name is that?” Trisha mused from the toaster.

My stomach flipped as I spun to see. “Oh God,” I whispered. “It’s…it’s him.”

  “Him who?” Trisha hissed.

“Oh shit, oh shit, how do I look?” I spun and examined myself in the dull stainless steel. I grabbed a cup and a saucer and clenched my eyes, waiting for the bell over the door to ding-a-ling at his entrance.

When it didn’t, I turned, searching.

“He’s talking to Mr. Ned,” Trisha whispered, coming toward me.

“Oh, child, look at him, breakfast on a silver platter, mmm, mmm,” Sarah muttered, coming to stand next to me too.

“Yes, yes. He’s it. He’s the one.” I nodded and fanned my face.

“Who in the world is he?” Trisha hissed.

I gave one laugh. “He’d be the man who paints the murals.”

Trisha jerked and stared at me then him before exploding with various forms of no way, not that bum.

I nodded and smoothed the pink skirt of my uniform, breathing, breathing. No panic attacks now, please. I nodded. “Yes it is. He shaved. It’s him.”

We all studied him, lustily. “Good Lord almighty,” Trisha murmured.

I hurried to put a cup at a table, praying he would come in. “You have no idea.”

She followed on my heals. “Well dammit, give me some idea! Oh, here he comes.”

“Shit,” I gasped, “get busy, please act normal.”

The bell rang over the door. He’s just a customer, just a customer. Greet the customer. I turned with a bright smile. “Well good morning, are you hear for some…”

My words were cut short with his panther glide toward me, the look in his startling blue eyes, fierce and closing in. Before I knew it, his arm slipped around my waist and pulled me against his hard body while those full lips pushed mine open. His tongue snaked in for a real sweet good morning against mine. I gripped the table behind me and the beginning of an aching groan, barely audible, rumbled in his throat. My body hummed with the need to make love to him where he stood.

When the giggling behind us turned to cackles, he withdrew his lips oh so slowly, and gave my nose a tender peck. “That’s…what I’m here for,” he said.

Holy bajeesus. I was too ashamed to look him in the eye, still not getting what he saw in me and sure any second he’d see how pretty I wasn’t in the plain public light of day.

“Have a seat, I’ll… get you some coffee.”

“Can you have a cup with me? I need to talk to you.”

My heart skipped an unhealthy amount of beats. I nodded and forced myself to look at him for a fraction of a second. “Sure. Not busy at the moment.”

He gave me the most beautiful smile I was sure I’d ever seen. Confused the hell out of me, really. Like he had some secret about me that I didn’t know. Wished to hell I did know so I didn’t feel like I’d somehow misinformed him.

Took all the training I had at being a human being to play the composed waitress I normally was. When I got behind the counter, Sarah was suddenly at me ear. “Ohhh my God, did that just happen? Did that gorgeous man just walk in here and kiss you like that?”

I could only nod. Needed to keep my cool, stay focused. I headed back to his table with another cup and saucer and a coffee pot. I sat across from him, avoiding as long as I could those magnetic ocean eyes. Those thick black lashes that made them glow, those damn perfectly black brows that framed them in a stare at me kind of way.

After pouring our coffee and doing all the things I could possibly do that required my two eyes, I finally looked at him with a small smile, nothing too huge, while stirring my coffee. I held my breath, bracing for impact. Fuck, he was beautiful.

“I have to leave today,” he said.

His words froze me. Literally. I consciously began stirring my coffee again. Panic, confusion, anger, hurt—all of it swirled, looking for a footing, fighting for first rights. Calm your little psycho ass down. “Really, what’s up?” I lifted my coffee cup, wanting to hide my mouth. My lips were on the verge of trembling, I could feel it.

“I’m expected back for business. Time to pay the piper.” He leaned back, his legs stretching out till they touched mine.

I set my cup down with a clank, sloshing coffee. “Shit.” I grabbed a napkin and wiped it up.

Johnny leaned forward and took the tissue from me and lifted my hand to his lips. He pressed an extremely sensual kiss to it. “Come with me,” he whispered, pressing another kiss. “I want you with me for this. It’s only for two weeks, then I can bring you back.”

A tremor found its way into my limbs. I pulled on my hand, not wanting him to feel it, think I was chicken or stupid. “Where you goin?” He released my hand and I latched onto my cup with both hands for support.

He looked out the window and I studied the muscular cords of his ivory neck, my body filling with instant heat. “New York. Turn in all those pictures I painted.” He seemed to be watching the morning’s lazy outdoor activity without seeing. His jaw ticked briefly and he looked back at me.

I squirmed my butt at the impact of his gaze, feeling moisture in my panties. Heat filled my cheeks and I cleared my throat and took my turn looking out the window. I shrugged. “Sure, why not. It’s just two weeks.” I boldly met his face with a half smile. “Sides, I ain’t never…I mean I’ve never really been many places.” I nodded a little, licking my lips nervously. “No place actually. Born and raised here all my life.” Already told him that, stupid.

  Damn that was one
serious gaze he assaulted me with. Had I said the wrong thing? Was he having second thoughts? He slid out of the booth and slid into my side. I promptly scooted to make room, but he only scooted closer until there was no more place to scoot. I couldn’t not look in his eyes, I mean when a man scoots into your booth, it would seem odd to pretend he ain’t comin’ for a reason that requires a person’s undivided attention. He surely had mine. Had my everything.

The diner noise disappeared as he stroked my jaw with a finger and leaned in. I inhaled the smell of his aftershave, unlike anything I’d ever smelt around these parts. Mysterious, sexy, confident. It was all him. His lips slid softly over mine, not really kissing, just touching, teasing. “Thank you,” he barely said.

My small little world flooded with joy. Cause I’d heard the relief in his tone, the need met. And it was me he’d needed for that. Little ole countrified me.

It still felt like a glitch. Like that time when I was ten, and in love with the next door neighbor at my cousin’s house. They’d all played a joke, saying he liked me, then they broke the news to me after an entire day of believing it. They all got a good laugh. That’s what this felt like. The too gorgeous intelligent guy, liking the dumb country girl from the sticks. I mean just perfect for a prank, really. Wouldn’t be the least surprised if cameras suddenly appeared with haha, you’re on candid camera, or whatever that stupid show was they did those things on.

“I don’t want to force you Jewel. If you don’t want to come, just tell me.”

I stuttered out my confusion. “What? No, of course I want to come if you want me to.”

“I don’t want you to come because I want you to.”

I was startled by the clear need in his voice. For me to want him like…he wanted me? Made no sense, but there it clearly was. I reached a hand up and caressed his face. “You have no idea just how much I want you, do you,” I said, amazed. He slowly closed his eyes and his breath warmed my neck with his long exhale. The idea that this god of a man could have inhibitions or doubts about how amazing he was, gave me more courage than fear. I leaned in and pressed my lips to his. He parted them a little, almost timidly. It was so sweet. I stroked his face and lightly captured his lower lip between mine and barely suckled. Then did the same with his upper.
