The Bodyguard's Prince Page 14

“And I think you don’t understand how hard I’m going to work to ensure your safety, Your Highness.”

“It’s your job, after all,” Alek deadpanned while his brothers argued in the background. “Being a fiancée is hard work.”

“Being a bodyguard is hard enough, and now you’re giving me more responsibilities?”

“Oh, yes,” he murmured as he trailed kisses down her temple to her cheek and her neck. “Hard responsibilities, too. You’ll definitely have your work cut out for you.” He nipped the sensitive skin under her ear. “I’m a harsh taskmaster.”

She hummed in appreciation and tilted her head to give him better access, not even caring who was watching. “I think I can manage. I’ve trained for situations just like this, after all.”

“Really?” He kissed her neck. “Because I think you need a little more training.”

“Dance lessons, you mean?” she murmured teasingly.

“Exactly,” he said against her skin.

From across the room, Kristoff yelled, “Oh, get a room, you two!”

Alek straightened and grinned down at her. “My brother is right. Those emails can wait. And I do happen to have a room nearby…”

Toni was laughing as he dragged her out of his study, but she caught the queen’s approving smile.

There was at least one Royal Wedding ready to happen!

You can find all The Royal Wedding books here.

Is Queen Viktoria’s engagement to Dr. Hayes going to be properly announced, or will something happen to delay the planned concert? And just who was behind Alek’s kidnapping and attempt to stop the wedding? Find out in Merry Farmer’s The Rock Star’s Prince!

And don’t forget Toni’s sister Lin; she found her Happily Ever After in Finding Fortune, my Chinese-New-Year-themed romance!

  ACKNLOWEDGEMENTS

Every morning, Merry Farmer and I start a conversation—about how we slept, her cats, my kids, or what we’re planning for lunch—and we don’t stop. Writing is a lonely profession, and I’m lucky to have someone who’s willing to chat with me, even if it’s online. Our historical romance worlds overlap (my Everland Ever After series and her Brides of Paradise series are constantly sharing characters and locations), so it was only a matter of time before we finally decided to write together. I’m grateful to her as a critique partner, a writing partner, and a friend.

And thank you to Alyssa, who is an incredible developmental editor, to my beta readers and Cohort members (who helped name half these characters), and to Julie Tague, the most supportive proofreader ever.

  ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Caroline Lee has been reading romance for so long that her fourth-grade teacher used to make her cover her books with paper jackets. But it wasn't until she (mostly) grew up that she realized she could write it too. So she did.

Caroline is living her own little Happily Ever After in NC with her husband, sons, and brand-new daughter, Princess Wiggles. And while she doesn't so much "suffer" from Pittakionophobia as think that all you people who enjoy touching Band-Aids and stickers are the real weirdos, she does adore rodents, and never met a wine she didn't like. Caroline was named Time Magazine's Person of the Year in 2006 and is really quite funny in person. Promise.

You can find her at www.CarolineLeeRomance.com.
