All The Right Reasons (The Seduced Series) Page 10

“It’s actually a little embarrassing,” I admitted. I’m not that pretty.

“Yeah well, I’m certain Dennis doesn’t appreciate other men gawking at his woman,” she said and I nodded, suddenly glad he wasn’t around.

About twenty minutes later we finished our meal. While walking out of the building Isabella throws me a curve ball.

“Go see him already.” I looked at her confused. “You have this ‘I miss Dennis’ written all over your face,” she added.

“No I don’t,” I said as she rolled her eyes.

“Oh please, whenever his name was brought up you had this sad puppy dog look. Come on, let’s go see him.”

“I don’t know, I’ve never visited him before at work,” I said hesitantly.

“Do you always worry about imposing on people?” She asked. I thought about for a second, and she had a point. I do worry about what people may think, but fuck it he was my man and if I wanted to stop by unexpected then it shouldn’t be a problem.

“Okay, but you’re coming with me,” I told her and she nodded.

We drove across the city and parked in front of the huge building white building with the name Evers and Evers Communications on top of it. We walked in through what I guess was the main entrance into a huge work area filled with tables and desks where people were working. There weren’t too many people here since it was Saturday.

“Holy shit, everybody is staring at us,” Isabella said as we walked to the reception desk.

I tried not to pay attention to them because I’ll probably end up falling on my face. We walked over to a woman that was in the far back of the building by the elevators, her desk was secluded from the others so we figured that she was the receptionist. We asked her were Dennis’s office was and she told us it was on the fifteenth floor. We took the elevator up to his floor, when it stopped and the doors opened we both looked at each other astonished at what we saw. His floor was completely empty, there was nobody walking around. The only desk there was another receptionist and again she was towards the back.

“Jeez, how many receptionists does he have?” Isabella asked and I shrugged my shoulders.

“I think there’s one for every floor,” I said and she laughed.

“Hi,” I said to the receptionist as she typed on her computer.

“Yes can I help you?” She asked still staring at her computer screen.

“Um yes, I’m here to see Mr. Evers.”

“Mr. Evers is a very busy man. Do you have an appointment with him?” She asked.

  “Um no, I…”

“Oh, I’m so sorry Ms. Moore,” she said as she recognized who I was. Probably from the tabloids. “I’ll tell him you are here.”

“No that’s okay, can you just show me where his office is located?” I asked.

“Sure, it’s down the hall to your left. It’s the only office there,” she said anxiously. I nodded then looked at Isabella.

“Go on, I’ll wait here for you,” she said and I walked towards Dennis’s office.

It wasn’t hard to miss the gold plated sign on his door that read Executive CEO Dennis Evers. I smiled as I knocked on the door. Nobody replied so I opened the door. I was shocked to see that this wasn’t even his office, it was his PA’s. I walked in and noticed another door that was slightly opened. When I glanced in I saw him working on his computer; he seemed preoccupied so I took a gander around his office. He had the biggest desk I’ve ever seen; it was bigger than mine and Betty’s put together down at Impressions. The rest of his office had two black leather couches complemented by a fancy black coffee table. It was pretty spacious, even for an office. He looked up and his eyes widened a bit as I smiled.

“Surprise,” I said walking towards him. He too smiled and stood up.

“This is the best surprise I’ve gotten yet,” he said as he wrapped his arms around me and kissed me. “What brings you down here?”

“Well, I was in the neighborhood and I thought I’d stop by and surprise my favorite guy,” I stated and he laughed. “Wow,” I said looking at the exterior glass wall to the epic view of the city’s skyline. “Nice view. I’ve never felt this intimidated by you before,” I teased.

“Did my receptionist give you a hard time getting in?” He asked as I sat on the edge of his desk. He stood in front of me playing with my hair.

“No. She just seemed nervous to see me,” I said and he smiled. He then leaned down to brush his lips across mine, but his lips were barely touching mine.

“Well I told them to keep an eye out for the world’s most beautiful woman, just in case she ever stopped in,” he said and I laughed.

“Stop trying to make me blush,” I murmured as he leaned in and fully kissed me this time. I felt his hand in my hair, pulling my head to him. I wrapped my arms around his waist while parting my lips, letting his tongue drive me crazy. Then I remembered where we were and pulled my lips away from his. “Slow down,” I breathed.

“No,” he said while kissing my chin and moving down to my neck.

“Dennis stop. What if one of your employees walked in,” I said as he just ignored me and continued to kiss my neck, unfazed by what I said to him. I giggled as he started whispering sweet nothings in my ear, just then the door opened. He made no move to end our embrace so I didn’t either, he was driving me wild.

“A large cappuccino just the way you like…” a woman said walking in before freezing to a halt when she saw us. She had long dirty blonde hair with blue eyes; she was very beautiful looking.

“Thank you Stephanie, you could put it on the coffee table,” Dennis said as woman smiled apologetically and laid the cup on the table.

“Angelina this is Stephanie my PA. Stephanie this is my girlfriend Angelina,” he said while not taking his hands off me. I didn’t miss the slightly disappointed look she had as Dennis told her who I was. I put on the best smile I could master and offered her my free hand to shake and she shook it.

“It’s nice to meet you,” she said.

“Likewise,” I replied and she turned to Dennis.

“The reps that are handing the Maltiz account just called to say that they are ready to meet, they said you should call them back to set up a meeting,” she said and Dennis nodded. She muttered a goodbye and left us alone.

I couldn’t help but stare at the door as she left; a beautiful PA who has feelings for my handsome man was unsettling. I felt Dennis’s hand tilt my chin up to meet his questioning gaze.

“So that’s Stephanie. She’s very pretty,” I said and he just shrugged his shoulders.

“She’s a nice girl,” he said and I raised an eyebrow.

“You think?” I asked and he narrowed his eyes in confusion.

“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” He asked, and then realization lit up his blue eyes. “I know what you’re thinking and don’t even go there,” he said while releasing me to sit in his leather chair.

“What? That the girl obviously has some serious feelings towards you, you know that right?” I asked and he sighed.

“She has showed some interest in the past but I told her that we could never happen and she knows that,” he said.

Not wanting to push him I let it go. I just nodded and turned my gaze towards the window to view outside. I wondered how long ago that exactly was because by the looks of it she seems like she hasn’t gotten over him. I wondered if he knew that. I felt Dennis’s eyes on me but I continued to stare outside, thinking about what all of this could mean. Maybe I was being jealous or even paranoid, but something made me over think about this Stephanie woman. Her infatuation with Dennis didn’t seem normal.

“Hey,” Dennis said softly. I looked at him and he held his arms out for me. I went over to him and sat on his lap as he stroked my cheek gently. “You have nothing to worry about; I only have eyes for you. When are you going to realize that I love you more than life itself?” He asked. I smiled as his lips lingered at the corner of my mouth. I couldn’t deny that the att
ention and affection Dennis showed me was evidence to what he was saying. “Although you look hot when you’re jealous and/or mad,” he teased and I just laughed.

“Oh please, you’re as jealous as I am. If I remember correctly you wanted to rip that guy’s head off of his shoulders at the ball in Jamaica,” I stated and he threw his head back laughing hysterically.

  “True,” he admitted.

As much as I wanted to stay, I left Isabella waiting and Dennis had to work. I gave him one last kiss and left him to finish his work. When I walked back to the reception desk I found Isabella sitting on a couch in the lobby. She got up when she saw me approaching her.

“Why was that blonde girl crying? She came from I guess Dennis’s office?” She asked.

“What? Are you sure she came from Dennis’s office?” I asked a little baffled and she nodded. I thought about what she said, and then it hit me. “That was Stephanie, Dennis’s PA. We just had an awkward moment,” I added as Isabella’s eyes narrowed.

  “Really?” She asked.

“Yeah…wait why would she be crying?” I asked as we turned to the elevators. Isabella suddenly stopped and I looked at her confused. She then placed her index finger on her mouth. She walked down the little hallway to the left of the elevators, staying close to the wall and I followed her.

“I don’t understand, it just seems unfair you know. I’ve had my sights on him ever since I first started here,” the familiar female voice said. I peeked in the doorway and seen Stephanie and some other woman making coffee with their backs away from us. I looked at Isabella in utter shock.

“Yeah but you’ve seen them in the papers and tabloids for a while now,” the other woman replied.

“I’ve seen Dennis with a few women in some of those magazines; it was never anything this serious though. Besides I was sort of hoping that the paparazzi was wrong about them, but seeing them together like that suddenly made it all to real,” Stephanie said sadly.

“I’m sorry girl, what are you going to do?” The woman said compassionately.

“I have no idea. I can’t possibly compete with her…” Stephanie said as Isabella pulled me aside.

“So this Stephanie girl is in love with your man? And she’s talking about competing with you, what the fuck?” Isabella asked slightly irritated by this whole ordeal.

“What can I do? I can’t change the way she feels about him?” I replied as Isabella shook her head.

“Ang honey, there are thousands upon thousands of women who feel that way too, but she is his PA. She’s the second woman Dennis spends time with apart from you, with that said you have to tell her how it is. I know you trust Dennis but don’t make the mistake of not trusting her,” Isabella stated.

I really thought about what she said and she was right. The way Stephanie talked about Dennis seemed she was willing to do anything to be with him, willing to break us up and take him for herself. I was as possessive and territorial as Dennis was to me, and the thought of Stephanie putting her polished claws all over him made want to rip her hair out. I nodded at Isabella as I saw the other woman leave; Isabella gave me the okay to go in and to tell this woman what she needs to hear. I took a deep breath and walked in to the counter beside her, grabbing a cup as Isabella followed suit. At first Stephanie seemed shocked to see me again as she said a brief hello and I smiled at her. It was time to tell this bitch what was on my mind.

“Word of advice sweetie,” I said as I poured some sugar and milk into my coffee. “I’d be very careful when speaking about Dennis, especially if his significant other is in an earshot away.” Her blue eyes widened in shock by my sudden blunt comment.

“I…I…I didn’t mean,” she stuttered but I stopped her. I didn’t want to hear her lame ass excuses.

“It’s not your fault that you have feelings for him. Join the club,” I said looking down at my coffee and then fixating my eyes on her. “HE IS MINE, SO HANDS OFF!”

“What? Afraid of a little competition then?” She spat back at me as I laughed.

“Oh sweetie, do you need to get your eyes checked. Take a good look at who he goes home to every night.” She glanced at me bitterly. “There is no competition. This game never started so it’s your choice…either we’re friendly or worst enemies,” I added while getting a little to close and towering over her from my heels. “So be a good little PA and get him his coffee, arrange his schedule and keep him up to date with his work. Cross the line and we’re going to have a problem,” I said while removing an invisible piece of lint from her suit jacket. “And trust me you don’t want to fuck with me, not when it comes to him…because you’ll lose.” The emotion in her eyes showed fear. “I hope we understand one another?” I asked and she nodded stiffly. “Good.” I picked up my cup of coffee and took a sip. “Oh and one more thing, can you tell Dennis to come home early today. I have a special treat for him.”

Isabella followed behind me and laughed darkly while shoulder bumping Stephanie. I shook my head, only Isabella would do something like that, trying to intimidate an already fear struck girl. As Isabella and I walked towards the elevators, I felt a bit shaking up by the whole confrontation. That was not me, but then again I had Isabella with me. She always made me bring out my inner bitch whenever I was with her. I tried to shake it off and glanced down at my ring and it was glowing red. Shit! My ring was making me to feel so much hatred towards that woman. It’s happened before that if I lose my cool or get really irritated my ring makes me say and do things that I normally wouldn’t do. Once inside the elevator, Isabella laughed bring me back to the now.

“Who knew Barbie could be so frightening.”

“I kinda feel a little guilty,” I admitted to her. I really wanted to tell her that it was my ring that propelled me to be so fierce. I can’t even lie though, standing up to Stephanie felt good, and if it wasn’t now then it would have happened in the near future.

“Don’t be like that. You’re way too nice, plus women like Stephanie take advantage of that kind of shit,” she said earnestly.

“Do you think she’ll back off?” I asked.

  “She’d be crazy not to.”

I dropped Isabella off at her house and rushed back to the estate. I really needed to plan a special treat for Dennis, something to remind him why he was with me.

  Chapter Twelve

I parked the car in the garage and walked into the living room only to be hit by a mouthwatering delicious aroma. But what was even more delicious than the smell of really good food was the site of Angelina cooking and only wearing one of my white button down shirts. She had the sleeves rolled up and her hair down. She looked absolutely breathtaking.

“Mmm, coming home to a gorgeous woman barefoot in the kitchen cooking with practically nothing on, I must be the luckiest man on the planet right about now,” I said and she smiled.

“I’m guessing Stephanie never gave you the message, huh?” She asked. I looked at her confused about what that was supposed to mean. Stephanie didn’t tell me anything.

“What message?” I asked tilting my head to the side while walking towards her.

“Forget about it, it was nothing,” she said shrugging her shoulders. She stood on her tiptoes to and gave me a kiss as I lifted her off the ground and spun around as she giggled. I placed her feet back on the floor as she turned back to the stove. “Hungry?” I wrapped my arms around her waist.

“Starving,” I replied kissing her neck while moving the collar of the shirt out of the way. “But not for food,” I whispered against her neck. “Please tell me you’re not wearing anything underneath this shirt,” I added feeling a little hopeful and she laughed.

“I’m not wearing anything under this shirt,” she replied and I moaned as I kissed her neck again.

“What are you cooking?” I asked not really caring about the food.

“Juicy roasted chicken with candied carrots and stuff peppers,” she said and I inhaled deeply.

  “Yum my favorite,” I said.

“I know, that’s why I cooked it,” she replied while turning in my arms and smiling. “Between me and the food, which is more tempting?” She asked while biting on her lower lip. Damn, whenever she did that an electric current shot straight to my groin.

“I think it’s a close tie,” I teased while unbuttoning the top buttons of her shirt. “But I’d rather have you instead. Right here if that’s okay.” She placed her hands on top of mine to stop me.

“Slow down. Didn’t your mother ever tell you to eat your vegetables before you can have dessert?” She asked playfully. I threw my head back and laughed.

“Um, I don’t think she meant it in that kind of way,” I said and she shook her index finger at me as in not yet. “You’re not really expecting me not to touch you when you parading around with practically nothing on, do you?” I asked raising an eyebrow.

“Shoo, go change and be ready for dinner in ten minutes,” she said pushing me out of the kitchen as I frowned.

I listened like a good boy and went upstairs and showered. While in the shower I couldn’t help but think about what Angelina meant about Stephanie giving me a message. Also if it had anything to do with Stephanie’s awkward behavior after Angelina left. I dressed into something comfortable, a white tee shirt and pajama bottoms and headed back downstairs. I stopped dead in my tracks as I seen Angelina set up romantic dinner for two in the living room.

“Dinner is served,” she said as I sat down on the couch and giving me a plate full of delicious food. She grabbed herself a plate and sat across from me, crossing her legs. Purposefully giving me a magnificent view, I gave her a hard look but she just smiled innocently.

“Aren’t you hungry?” I asked and she just shook her head while staring at me. I have to keep her talking because if I don’t then I will attack her if she keeps looking at me like that. “I’ve cleared my schedule for a couple of days,” I said and she nodded with that intense gaze.

“So what will we be doing then?” She asked and I smiled. I like to be doing her now and also in the next few days that come.
