“I have my supplies in the car,” Ryan announced from somewhere in the house before we heard the front door slam.

Everyone behind us was busy offering us congratulations before they came over and started to pat an unhappy Liam on the back. He was on his feet now and had his arm wrapped tightly around my waist like he was afraid they would take me away from him.

“I’m taking you out and doing this right,” he whispered into my ear.

“This feels pretty right to me,” I smiled, looking around at the excited looks on all of our friends’ faces.

“You can do better, Freya,” Davis piped up, looking up through his crooked black frames. “He didn’t even get you a very big ring,” he shrugged, releasing the box he had somehow wrangled from Liam’s hands.

Liam was just about to explode at the smug little boy when I jumped in front of him and distracted him with a kiss.

“I think it’s perfect,” I placated, taking it from the box and trying to slide it on my finger.

Unfortunately, due to all my swelling from pregnancy it wouldn’t fit.

“Told you it wasn’t big enough,” Davis grumbled, before his father slapped a hand over his mouth, quickly silencing the opinionated five year old.

“I can wear it on my pinky,” I offered, trying to get rid of the kicked puppy look on Liam’s face. I pulled him in close until his forehead rested against mine and only he could hear me

“I love it Liam,” I murmured.

“I had it all planned,” I heard him grumble as I ran a soothing hand through his hair. My heart swelled knowing he had put a lot of effort into his proposal even though, like everything else in our lives, his actual proposal had gone awry.

Finally, he leaned away and gave me a quick peck on the lips before glaring around at everyone around him. They were saved from his tirade by the reappearance of Ant’s glitter-stained boyfriend.

“I have everything we’re going to need,” he beamed, waving around a book that almost had more glitter on it than him and more feathers.

“No,” Liam yelled before he got into an argument with his overzealous stylist. I simply smiled and rested my head against his warm and comforting chest. My ear against his heart where he had once tattooed the words, Their choice is to leave. Now it read something entirely different and it always made my heart leap to know how far he had come.

Their choice is to leave,Mine is to fight to keep them close.
