Blood Thrill Page 16

The case had now begun to draw the interest of the entire nation. Serial Killer City had become an appropriate moniker. It all started with the serial killing of six prostitutes that had now turned into something that had begun to shock the entire law enforcement community. It brought with it the interests’ of politicians, judges, the press and everybody else involved in protecting the rights of the free world.

The feds had been called in; the full force of the FBI had now landed at the local PD. A thorough search had been initiated to track down the person who looked like Snake. This individual with a limp would need to be extra careful. Andrea was still the one representing the FBI and was still supportive of Brian and team. Having seen firsthand what had been happening on the ground.

Andrea had worked furiously on tracking the mayor’s phone and had been able to trace its last location, which was leading toward the marinas near the harbor. The cameras however showed that he had indeed reached the marina and then all of a sudden disappeared, which led the team to believe that he had met someone there and had gone-on to another location. The only bothersome fact was that from here, the trail had gone cold. If he did not enter the area where the boats were kept, where could he have gone from here? Maybe he had been kidnapped and taken to another location or still worse, he might already have met an end like the chief, and they were now only searching for his bodily remains.

Brian had immediately moved Liam to a secure police safe house. His presence had become of vital importance now, and they could not afford to let anyone else talk to him. Jail would have been too easy a place for Snake to get any individuals he had inside to speak with Liam, and change his mind. Liam needed to be kept completely out of sight. The holding at the PD was also no more secure. He hoped to get a few more leads from him. Liam had become way too important to be left alone, even for a minute. He was safely transported to the safe house and kept in handcuffs all the time. He had cuffs on his hands and legs, there was no other way. They could not allow him the opportunity to jump out the window and fuck off.

I had been expecting Snake to make contact with me. By-now the news was all over the internet and televisions. He definitely knew that the mayor had been taken. I had made my move, it was now his turn. I wasn't sure if he’d show. It did not matter; I had done this to draw him out. He needed to come out of hiding, if he wanted anything more out of me. He wanted the mayor killed, which had not happened. I called up the mayor on the phone available on the boat. ‘Keep your head down; you’re all over the news. Stay out of sight.’ ‘Yeah, but please hurry… can I go out for a walk in the evening.’ ‘No, but after dark you can go for a run, don’t stray.’ ‘Copy that,’ he said as I cut the call. Needed to keep a check on him, did not want him to lose his nerve and try going back to his house. With every passing hour, the tension to find him would only keep mounting. He was a wanted man both by the police and now as I was sure, even by Snake.

  19. Blood

The one that the cops had come to know as Snake was working in silence, when he received a call on his phone, he was surprised - a call from this number had not come-in for many days. It was his boss, his mentor, his guide and most of all, it was his twin. He had adored his older brother of 15 minutes for as long as he could remember. Even his birth had been easy; with his older brother having already paved the way for him to slip out easily into the world, although things had been strained a lot over the last couple of months. A call from his brother was always filled with hope for him. He had learnt everything he knew from his brother. Snake had made the both of them rich and prosperous - like a wild animal Snake had made his younger sibling learn to walk in his footsteps. This was a very dangerous place to be in. When the cops were tracking the footsteps of his brother, they could never get to him, because the younger brother was always walking in the same steps and drawing attention away from his older brother. This was the case every single time. The younger brother kept concocting and displacing everything.

The present situation found itself in the same predicament. The cops were looking for Snake, but they had been beguiled by the younger brother and were now on the wrong path, tying to track someone who was walking in his older brothers’ footsteps, throwing them off-track, effectively creating a divergence, leading the cops on a path that looked correct but was totally leading in the opposite direction. This diversion was perfect and effective and had been of use to them in the past, the evil twins were now using the same deviance to mislead the investigative team.

The big question that remained however was - when things went south and the game was up. Would the younger brother be willing to be the fall guy and offer his head and life just to save his brother? Would he be willing to go to prison and face possible execution, just so that his elder brother could live? That… only time would tell.

He answered the phone with a voice filled with enthusiasm. ‘I was waiting for you to call for a long time now.’ I know,’ Snake replied. ‘Things are still hot and we need to lay low. The mayor is missing, we need to find him.’ ‘What happened to Lemmie? I thought you were sure of him?’ ‘He’s playing… playing games with us. He’s got the mayor hidden somewhere. We’ve got to find him. He’s an easy source of money for us. It’s time Marcus. Go find that son-of-a-bitch.’ ‘Give me 24 hours bro.’ Marcus said while disconnecting.

He was aware of the plan his brother had hatched along with me. He knew who I was and was now going to come and get me. The disappearance of the mayor needed to be accounted for in their plans, as Snake was not the kind of person to be fooled. He knew that I had not chopped off the mayor’s head as yet; he would now stay away from me as far as possible. As someone who hadn’t carried out his orders, was someone who couldn't be trusted.

It was a habit of mine while attending classes in college to park my car at a safe place, just in case the time came for a quick getaway, I could move as fast as possible out of campus. After classes I would not leave the building immediately, but hang around close to the exit and scope the situation outside. My eyes would wonder about everywhere and then to the place where my car had been parked. Killers were always paranoid; that is what keeps them safe… and alive.

That afternoon while I was near the exit and looking out the doors, I see a full-black Dodge Charger; enter parking close to the exit. Something about the car made it stand out and I stood and watched to see who it might be; who had driven such a nice looking car into campus? The windshield and windows wore black tint, making it impossible to get a look inside.

The car had stopped but the owner had still not emerged from the vehicle. It was a good ten minutes before the driver decided to put-in an appearance. He stepped out and the first thing that was noticeable, was the long hair pulled back into a ponytail, the height and good build, with those dark shades. It was Snake or so I thought. When he started to walk to the back of the car, a clear limp was noticeable. It did not seem like a terrible impediment, but it was there nevertheless.

I was now standing and watching Snakes’ double. This was positively intriguing, watching this person, I did not know how they were related, but it wasn't hard to guess. They were brothers of that I was now positively sure. So there were two snakes that were related to each other. ‘What a fucking unholy family.’ One of the two snakes, as had been expected had come in search of me.

I had seen him first and so the ball was now in my court. Climbing up to the first floor began to observe his every move. I needed to determine, what he wanted and where this was all leading. He wasn't walking around much but kept pacing close to the car, as though deep in thought. He wasn't on a hunting mission but was actually waiting patiently to talk to me. Which now made me wonder as to what he might be hoping to accomplish? I was not in the mood to talk though, needing to work out their angle first. It was apparent that deception ran deep in their blood. I was no fool to be once again walking into their play of emotional blackmail; trying to appear as friends and then gaming me. The play had now firmly landed in my hand
s and I wasn't prepared to lose this advantage. Knowing full well the benefits of having an upper hand, was not about to lose it right now.

While spying on him from the first floor, something truly surprising began to unfurl before my eyes. A car that I had become very familiar with was pulling up into the main parking lot. Limping Snake was slick enough to slip back into his car. Brian’s car had found a parking spot and now the doors had begun to open. He got out, while another door opened with Andrea also stepping out, this was truly confusing now. What had they found out about Snake, and for fuck’s sake, I was hoping they did not know about me. This was real pressure - somehow they had landed at my college. Did they know about me? If so the game was up. I would need to abandon everything and get the fuck out of here. Something had changed and I wasn't really sure what.

The brother’s car was slowly pulling out, it was clear that he was making a break for it. There was no time to be lost anymore. Whether they knew of me or not, it did not matter, I was not letting him get away this time, as this opportunity might not present itself again. Being fit and agile bounded down the stairs and walked at a quick pace to my car. Getting it out was now in line behind Snake’s brother. Kept glancing towards Brian and Andrea but they did not seem to be suspicious of me. Something was up, they were in the know with some substantial information, but there was no time for me to figure that out now. I needed the viper that was now driving behind the wheel of a Charger.

Travelling at a safe distance, could see him driving towards the marina. Oh man, had he found the mayor and taken him already? There was no way he could have known… unless… there was someone in Brian’s team that was on their payroll. Dirty cops were a bane to good cops, the profession, and humanity in general. Cops that were cheating on their own team, Ha! They were fair game to me. I would need to work that out and close that chapter later.

The marina had large parking facilities and at this time of day, it was full. There were people all over. The bigger boats were offering touristy rides from the pier to people from out of town. He got out, as I parked at a safe distance. He did not seem in the least bit nervous after that close encounter with the cops. He casually strolled up to a hotdog counter and ordered one. I kept watching as he slowly began to eat. It was obvious from the way he kept turning his head that his eyes were darting every which way, under those shades.

His body language appeared nonchalant and cool. But he was ‘Cold and calculating’ and I was picking up on those vibes, he was looking for me. He had tried the college and now had come to the harbor area. I was pretty sure that the mayor for now was still safe in the boat. He hadn't found him; the way he was moving about was telling me this. I was pretty sure that this info he had gotten from a dirty cop. When the mayor had come to meet me the other night, I had been careful to lead him in my direction, away from the searching eyes of CCTV cameras. Had he been picked up on the cameras walking toward my boat, the cops would have easily have found him by now. Tracing his phone would have led them close to the marina, after I made him switch it off, that signal would have been killed. The harbor area was served by mainly a single cell phone tower, which made tracking very difficult. The phone was sending its signal to a single tower and pinpointing the exact location would require the phone being switched on at all times. That's how mobile operators knew how to send calls to a particular mobile tower. The phone keeps sending a signal to these cell phone towers and the nearest one picks it up. You can keep running with your phone trying to hide, but it keeps connecting to the nearest tower to keep itself connected to the network. It’s not like the towers keep sending signals to find your phone, as phones are programmed to do this automatically.

Given the choice I would like to take him out now, but that would jeopardize everything. The game would be over and Snake would disappear into some deep dark godforsaken black hole that he might never crawl out of again. No, another plan was needed, he needed to be baited and hooked. Pulling out a glove from my pocket picked up a large enough rock from beside of the parking area, waited for the right moment before throwing it into his windshield. The glass was strong, but against the power of my throw, it shattered and the alarm went off like someone was murdering it. The cars beside his also began to make a noise. He came back running toward his car, and as he neared; I stepped out from between two other cars and knocked him out cold with a powerful butt to the head. He now lay knocked out and sprawled on the ground. Quickly rumbling through his pockets, retrieved his phone and wallet. I did not know it as yet, but I had hit the jackpot. His phone could not be accessed without his fingerprint to open it. That was not going to prove difficult with him lying almost dead in front of me. Using his finger, opened the phone and changed the login to a code. His wallet had a driving license. I quickly snapped a photo of it and put it back into his pocket.

Two good Samaritans that had been nearby were now frantically placing a call to 911. I had given him a powerful headbutt between his brow and the ridge of his nose. The soft cartilage had been smashed and he was now all wobbly. Clearly he needed medical attention. His car was also in no condition to be driven away. The strangers pleaded with him to wait for an ambulance to arrive, but he seemed to be having none of it and was trying to get up. Fortunately there was a paramedical unit nearby who was quick to reach the scene. He had a broken nose and against his wishes, had to be taken to a hospital and administered first aid, and whatever subsequent treatments that might follow. This was standard medical protocol and they could not leave an injured person just lying on the tarmac. This was exactly what I wanted - the hospital would get his name and number and hopefully an address. I was the only one with this knowledge right now and it needed to be protected.

I could now go visit his home in peace, and if what I wanted was there; then Snake would be mine. I would rip his heart out and butcher it in two, as this was what I’ve always wanted.

While the brother was being shifted to hospital, I was on a mission to find out if the address listed on the driving license was indeed the real one. His residence was in a rich neighborhood, but was lacking in design and appeared very nondescript. Parking the car quickly got to the back of the house. Breaking the lock was easy and it was one of those skills that I had acquired very early on. How was one to be a successful killer when something so simple, like picking a lock was going to pose a problem? I was inside his home in no time and immediately began looking around for a computer. He had a nice comfortable table in the living room, on top of which sat an Apple MacBook. I pulled the chair out and sat down intent on getting to work immediately. The laptop was connected wirelessly to a router, which carried high-speed internet. Switching it on revealed that the MacBook had been password protected. His phone was in my hand, and I accessed his iCloud and began changing all the preferences. Remote access was also enabled, for easy access to his laptop. This would mean that he could access his MacBook no matter where he was in the world. All this Tech was now working in my favor. It was just a matter of time - after playing with all the systems and preferences, I was granted access to his laptop, which turned out be a treasure trove of wealth and information.

His name was Marcus and his brother’s name was Moses Parker. For the first time in months, I took time to laugh. Fucking Moses… oh fuck… his name was Moses… the fuck was born with a name like that. Unlike the biblical Moses who led his people to the Promised Land, this Moses was sending people off to the land of eternity; the land flowing with milk and honey. ‘Fuck you Moses, your heart doesn't belong to God, no… it belongs to me, and someday soon, I’m gonna’ come calling.’

  20. Knowing me, knowing you.

Brian and Jackie were still going strong despite the considerable strain Andrea had been placing on their relationship. Andrea being a very attractive woman was always coming between the couple. Everyone at the PD were aware of their relationship and as of yet Ellen had not addressed the situation, because they kept everything out of the PD. There was no PDA that existed between the
m at the workplace, and each did not show any preference toward the other. It was common knowledge though, that they were a couple. They had not acknowledged the same publically, as this would go against workplace policy, so they were safe for now. Andrea was however a woman with head turning proportions and a brain to match. Her close proximity to Brian throughout the work day was not going down well with Jackie.

The bedroom that up until now had been a place for them to forget about humanity and behave like animals, was fast tuning into a living hell. They had been constantly fighting, with Jackie demanding more time and Brian was as always, the hopeful player. He had begun to enjoy the attention he was getting from the both of them. As of now he had not been physical with Andrea, but he could guess that, that day was not too far away. For now Jackie was on top of him, hair flailing, and her moans filling the room. They were fucking like wild animals, the only way they knew how, when they made love, it was always with no holes barred. They screamed and fucked like rabbits. He swung his torso over and she was now on her back looking up at him, eyes drunk with wild passion. He put her legs on his shoulders as he entered her with wild fury once again. ‘Ugh…’ she began to moan and whimper, as he dove deep into her, rocking her in a mad storm on the bed. ‘Fuck me… oh shit… slow down… there… there.’ He was not done and in one deft action flipped her onto her knees. They began to go at it doggie style as this was when he would have deepest access to her hot and steaming pussy. He kept pile driving into her before both of them lost in sexual ecstasy came together. Falling beside each other they were very quickly overtaken by sleep. If nothing else their fucking was really good and both of them could not do without it. It heightened their relationship, every time they went down like animals. This beastly magnetism was strong between them and one couldn’t do without the other. For now their relationship was safe and it was keeping Andrea at bay. They awoke later at 3 am feeling ravenously hungry. The fridge proved its worth once again that night. Heating up the cold slices of pizza, satiated their hunger pangs, and like little children went back to bed to slumber through the remainder of the night.
