Blood Thrill Page 23

At the airport I found that there were no flights back home for another five hours. I could however reroute my flight path by travelling to another city and getting a connecting flight from there to the place I needed to go. LA was home and I was happy to be going back. It took me all of three and a half hours to get into LAX and from thereon to my car and the dorm. My very trusty backpack was in the trunk of the car, it had all my knives, gun, steel pick and my own personal laptop.

  28. Dancing with Death

Jackie was not making a big issue out of the laptop that had been stolen from the precinct, right under the noses of the PD. She appeared nonchalant, cool and unconcerned - walking about as though nothing had happened. But under that calm exterior was an angry woman. A woman thirsting for revenge, hungry to get her hands on the person or persons’ who had killed Brian. She was hell-bent on seeking retaliation and could not wait to work things out in her mind and take the situation under her control. She also had police instinct and could now smell blood. She needed to give it time though, and she was willing to wait, not being one given to thoughtless outbursts and hasty decisions. She liked to work things out, think everything through and come to her own conclusions. It was becoming clearer in her mind though, everything that had been happening had someone who was able to stay two steps ahead of the cops and was seriously manipulative and evil.

She had spoken to Ellen about leaving a little early today as she had a few personal errands to run. Driving home she parked the car, and pulled out from the garage another smaller car, something more nondescript. She belonged to a family with old money and had grown up with all the luxuries that money could buy, but all these goodies had not let her lose touch with reality. During her days at college, she was known as someone who would often use public transport and wear clothes that she would buy from local mom-and-pop stores. Being rich did not mean that she was given to lavishness and had decided early on in life that she would make it on her own. She wanted a successful career, to get married and to raise one or two little monsters of her own. She could be cold and calculative and this was her present state of mind, as she drove the car out to reach her destination. She was carrying three guns, a small gun in her suit pant pocket, one in her police holster and another one secured with the help of the back under-band of her bra.

I was going to have to wait until it had turned dark before checking out the place on the map. It was located in the midst of an industrial area. Driving to this place I stopped my car outside a local shopping complex that housed a few restaurants, smaller retail stores, and on one side a liquor store. From here I carried on, on foot. As I entered the area, there were a few drunks and homeless people about. Some of them called out to me, ignoring them I kept on walking. It was now becoming more and more deserted the further I walked, ‘fucking right place for this serpent.’ Using the GPS on my phone, I was able to make my way to the place I had already entered into the map. As I neared the building that was most likely my target, I stopped. Jumped over the fence of the building to the right and climbed up the stairs to the empty terrace on top.

From this vantage point it was easy to see the entrance of the target building. The night vision binoculars were giving me a clear sight of the entrance and the door stood slightly ajar. There was a very dim light on outside the door. This was a very dull light and not casting a huge glow. I sat behind the low wall and kept observing, hoping to pick up on any movements that might catch my eye. The windows were all sealed with black paper on the inside of the glass. The only entrance to the building was the door that was left slightly opened. It was then that I saw it open some, in order to allow a heavy body to pass through. The gorilla had come out to take a look around and he was just hanging about, clutching his stomach occasionally. He had received a stab wound and I don’t think that Snake had allowed him to seek professional medical treatment.

Climbing down the building I circled it from the right and went to the end of it, jumped the fence and walked to the fence of the target building, scaling it. Reaching the end of the wall and started creeping along it to where Mamba was standing. The entrance was like a 12 foot by 12 foot reception center that led to the door. It was in this gap that the light had been turned on, with the door behind it.

Walking almost to the entrance, turned and walked out about ten feet into the darkness. I was well hidden in the dark and I could see Mamba had seated himself on a small wooden chair under the light.

I had a 13” black tactical hunting fixed blade knife in my hand. It was mean and scary looking and could not be seen in the dark. The blade was of strong metal and heavy; and it now felt so right and comfortable in my hand as I firmly gripped it. He could see my silhouette in the darkness. ‘Who’s there?’ he called out. ‘Death... you fatherless piece of shit,’ I replied. You could see every muscle and fiber of his being stiffen. He knew instinctively that he was not talking to one of his usual victims. This was different and he was nervous I could tell. He might have been big and powerful, but I was fast and agile. And like a wild animal I was after blood and my eyes were now fixed. Unflinchingly and focused I kept staring at him. He was building up his courage and was about ready to make a move. His brute force started moving rapidly towards me. I made the same move and started running toward him, we were going to meet somewhere in the middle and his superior force was going to ram into me like a train. He was expecting to run me over and grind me to pulp. Just before our bodies collided together in a wild rush, he swung out, expecting to put my lights out with a single blow to the head. I ducked and came to a sliding halt behind his body that physics just kept on moving. His mass lost momentum and it eventually stopped, turning around, he was on the move again with arms spread as though trying to catch a butterfly. I stood with the left of me pointing toward the locomotive that had begun bearing down on me. My left leg had moved a little forward to help me gain traction, while my right arm tightened its grip around the knife handle. He was almost on top of me, when I leaped into the air and knifed him right through the middle of his skull. He dropped to the ground like a dead hippo. The knife had gone through the front of his skull, through his brain and was now sticking out just above his eyebrows. I had to jerk it thrice before finally being able to dislodge it from his head and get it out, wiping the blood and parts of bone and brain on his clothes, as he lay, as limp as a dead snake before me.

Going into the building, was now following a passageway that eventually opened-up to a large room. Everything was dark but I dared not switch on my torchlight just as yet, getting myself closer the ground, waited in silence allowing my eyes to adjust to the darkness. I heard a grunt from behind but was too late to see Death Adder as he had slithered from behind, and now had me in a choke hold. He lifted me and I pushed backwards, sending the both of us sprawling to the ground. The fall did not loosen his grip in the slightest as he continued to choke me out. If I was to survive I would need to get a least one gulp of air in. My internal organs were begging for oxygen, as all of them had begun to work in a state of excitement. The knife had been thrown from my hand and I was now at the mercy of this very thick and brutal killer. He was holding onto me for all that he was worth and was now starting to win. He was still under choking the fuck out of me, as a last ditch effort, I pulled my left leg up and placing it between his legs began to crush his groin. Removing my leg and bringing the heel full force into his balls, again and again. It was too much and eventually one kick connected in a place that had the least amount of tolerance and he let out a cry of pain. His grip relaxed, even if it was a moment, that was all that was needed and I was free. Standing up quickly I kicked him in the side of his face, ensuring that the toecap connected with his ear. I wanted to burst an eardrum and the connection was successful. He lay there looking stunned. I felt around for my knife and pressing it across his throat began to behead him. It took about three chops to completely sever his head. He was now laid out before me, a body being denied a head.

At the far end of the
large room that I had conducted the beheading in, onto the right, a door opened, the inside of which had a light turned on. This was fucking strange as there was no other movement. It was as though someone had been expecting me and had opened the door for me to come through.

No matter what, I had come to finish a task and I did not care if I should be eliminated in the process. Snake was finished, as far as I was concerned; Jackie had the computer, which meant that Snake and his operation were ruined and over. Fuck it, I was going in - when one door closes another is opened, I was going to remain positive and motivated. Fuck this shit… this was karma and payback time. Snake had been fucking around for far too long. Maybe this was his lair that I was finally entering, with my knife secure in my hand. Just one thing though, I had left my backpack at the door, I needed it and fuck me if I was going to enter that door without my belongings close to my side. I casually walked back out and retrieved my bag carrying it in my left hand. I was going to walk into that room looking like a student… a student carrying a very dangerous blade. I pushed the door open with my right hand - the hand that was holding a very black and menacing blade.

The room was not too large and I was standing just past the door, Knife in one hand, backpack in the other. In the middle of the room was a light, kind of like the ones used in an operating theatre. It was none too bright, but bright enough, spreading its beam in a restricted conical shape. In the center of this beam of light was an operating room table and who should be lying strapped to it. It was Snake - he had been tied down and a piece of cloth secured between his jaws, effectively gagging him. I stood in stunned silence; this was not what I had been expecting. I was here to finish him off, but someone else had already done the prelims for me. Slowly turning my head to the left of Snake, found another person - hands tied above their head with a rope secured to the ceiling. Looking closer I could see that it was Jackie. Her face and hair were a bloody mess, and her body looked badly beaten and bruised. She was wearing grey suit pants with an off-white shirt. Both of which had now been ruined by blood.

From out the darkness, I heard a metallic click and stood frozen in the same place. Time had stopped and the room wore and eerie and haunting look. There was someone in the darkness and I could literally feel eyes burning into me. To the right of Snake was a table, the kind on which doctors kept their surgical instruments. Looking closely I could see that the table was well stocked with all kinds of knives and cutting instruments. There were butchering knives, scalpels, meat cleavers, and other surgical appliances.

‘Welcome Doc, the operation theater is now ready and prepared. Do you like the way I work,’ I heard him say. ‘Sometimes when you work hard, the universe takes care of you. If it wasn't for you and your interference, I might have been behind bars, in a very lonely cell rotting away. You saved me - everyday I thank God for you and all the help you’ve rendered me. You’re my guardian angel – my angel of mercy.’ He was laughing now a very low evil laugh, not too loud, as he was not given to loud outbursts but was a very controlling type of individual. ‘You thought Snake was a Grand Master, the cops and everyone else thought the same. You see… that’s the brilliance of my game. I am a very special kind of diamond, priceless and rare.’

‘Now that you have come, you might as well finish-off the job you started. I know all of us in this room like to dance with death. Go ahead kill Snake, then kill Jackie, I’ve got the computer you know. After you’re done with them, I will kill you and walk out of here scot-free. But I must thank you for the kindness that you’ve shown me. You my dear Sir… are a godsend.’

I dropped my bag and walked over to the table. Lying all tied up and shirtless was Snake. The evil motherfucker was finally lying helplessly before me. I reached behind me and put my knife between my pant and belt. I would remain secure there. Taking one of the survival knives that were on the table, I cut the gag from Snakes’ mouth. ‘Do you have any last words?’ He was just staring back at me, his eyes betraying his disappointment. He had been a master, but had been outwitted and manipulated by another, played for a fool like a stupid tree snake. It was time, his time had come. He had nothing to say and just as he opened his mouth to speak. The knife that I had secured in my right hand entered the part of his chest that up until now had been a safe place for his heart. Blood was gushing out as his heart went into spasms, with a blade now dividing it in two.

I slowly turned to look at Jackie expecting to see fear in her eyes, but it was not there. Vengeance perhaps, and a questioning look maybe, but she was not afraid. Maybe she was like me, the truth mattered more than plain human emotions. These were the people that had so mercilessly murdered Brian and she had come to exact revenge. She was hoping for retribution for a crime against her, but it hadn't worked out according to her plans.

I picked up from the table another thin boning knife and walked up to her. ‘You’re way better than I expected,’ I heard him say. ‘Keep talking motherfucker,’ I thought to myself, that’s exactly what I need. Show me exactly where you are. I walked to the back of Jackie and put the menacing looking blade in my mouth. Standing behind her, I put my left hand around her hip and with my right hand I titled her head back, plating a kiss on her neck, she did not struggle or resist. ‘You my friend are a wicked mother fuck,’ he said. Both my hands were now cupping her breasts and squeezing her back into me. I was really getting into it and all the while my eyes were adjusting to the darkness that lay beyond the boundary of the light. I could make out a shadow, standing to the right of the door. I now had a location; that's what I needed most. Taking the knife with my right hand I ran it slowly down her torso and rested the sharp blade between her legs. I could hear her gasp and could feel her heart racing. Tracing the knife back up toward her neck, I began to slit her across the throat from right to left. This was a cut that was not going to be more than skin deep. I did not want to cut her carotid artery – the bleeder. As the blood began to drip down her neck and become a big crimson damp on her shirt, I put the knife back into my mouth and let my right hand slid down her stomach, cupping her between the legs.

I could tell now that he was enjoying the show and maybe getting a little bit carried away in the present moment. While I was grabbing between her legs, she ever so slightly twisted her body to the right and the outer part of my arm felt the small gun that was in her right pant pocket. I now pointed her directly at shadow man and I could see him, watching us intently. His arm must have been tired as he was now holding the gun to his side, As though we were going to be putting on a crazy, wild, and dirty psychosexual show for him. I continued to rub my body against hers, as I slipped my hand into her right-hand pocket. His gun hand had still not come back up, and it was pointing down and not at me. Before he could tell what was happening, I very quickly, with one deft motion, pointed the small little handgun at him and fired-off three quick rounds. One struck him in the abdomen; another shot through his testicles and the third hit him in the right shoulder. That tiny gun made for the personal protection of women had really come in handy.

I ran up to him and took his gun away, kicking him in the side of his jaw, effectively dislocating it. He would lie in pain as I walked back to Jackie and untied her. Walked to the operating table, kicked Snakes’ body off of it. I carried the real villain and now threw him on the table. Jackie and I were now standing onto his left side, his heart side. ‘Do it,’ I told Jackie, offering her my knife. ‘No,’ She said, ‘I’m not like you.’ I turned to her and said, ‘So you’re just going to take this sick son-of-a-bitch in and let him get lost in the judicial system. Who knows, his lawyers might be powerful enough to change the jury's mind, and get him to walk scot-free again. Do you want that?’ ‘No,’ she said, still with a questioning look in her eyes. ‘I know you’re not afraid, here take my knife,’ I said, retrieving it from my back and handing it to her. She very silently took the knife from my hand and cupped both her hands around the handle.

Greg who was at the PD, had been frantically trying
to reach Jackie, who’d been missing for a couple of hours now. Ellen had become very worried and the entire team was on high-alert. ‘Go check her computer,’ Ellen had said and Greg went running to her PC. He used the enter button and the screen came to life. She had removed the password, and a plain text document was open. The document had just one word on it; it was a name. Greg had literally jumped from his seat and running to Ellen had asked for immediate air backup. She frantically made a call and the police chopper was started-up ready for use. Greg went running fully armed to the launch pad, while the rest of the team with sirens and lights blazing began to move out of the police precinct.

I was standing with Jackie, when the whirling blades of a helicopter could be heard in the distance, sirens were screaming. ‘If you don’t want to, I will do it,’ I said to her. ‘No,’ she said as all hesitation had now left her. Raising her hands high in the air she plunged the knife into his heart. His body went into spasms as Jackie stood and watched with a defiant look in her eyes.

I pulled the knife out and wiped it in his shirt, before retrieving my bag and concealing the weapon. ‘The cops should be here in a few minutes. I’ve got to go.’ ‘Wait,’ she said as she held my hand in hers. ‘I will cover for you, but I never want to ever have to see you again.’ ‘You won’t,’ I said, silently walking away and not a moment too soon, as I jumped the back of the fence and walked away into the night.
