Jan’s brother Nils Ivar Baalsrud, co-founder of the foundation, has served either as president and vice-president since the organization’s inception.
The foundation has established Jan Baalsrud-Marsjen, a permanent and annual re-creation of Jan’s 125-mile trek through the mountains, with historical markers along the route. The Foundation has also established memorials to the M/K Brattholm men; a stone monument in Toftefjord and a monolith and memorial birch grove near the University of Tromsø.
