A Little Atonement

  “Yes, Daddy. I believe.”

Liam knew that she had yet to fully accept the depth and the irrevocable truth of that promise, but for now, it was good enough. It took him but a moment to lift her from the desk’s surface and to turn her to him. She threw her arms around his neck and burst into tears.

“I’m so sorry. I love you so much. I want to be your wife and I-I want you to always be my daddy.”

“That’s a good thing, baby girl, because I’m never ever going to stop loving you. I am never ever going to let you forget that you are mine forever.”

He carried her to his room, quickly removing her clothes and then his own. He took her gently, her little whimpers as her punished bottom rubbed across the sheets having him begin to move to reposition her.

“No, please, sir… I-I want to feel both the pain you gave me and the pleasure. It reminds me that both were given by the man who loves me.”

He smiled, bent to kiss her and increased the strength of his thrusts, drawing mewls from her. Only when he felt her beginning to tighten around his cock did he slide his hands beneath her and lift her hot cheeks from the mattress. He drove deeper, harder, faster, until she screamed out and he joined her in bliss.

  Epilogue

Elena looked around the cabin she’d broken into and knew her life had changed. She’d been so afraid he’d reject her when she returned, but he’d done nothing but remind her that he loved her. She’d really miss this house but no longer felt as scared about returning to the city. And she knew that when those fears reared their ugly little heads, all she had to do was remember to take them to him. Her daddy would hold her and remind her that everything would be all right.

  “Ready?”

Looking up, she saw that he’d returned from putting the last box in the car. The fire had been allowed to go out, the refrigerator emptied, the electricity and water turned off.

  “Yes, Daddy. I’m ready.”

He bent to kiss the top of her head and with a hand against her lower back, he led her outside. After locking the door, he smiled. “Go ahead, baby.”

She nodded and ran down the steps and across the yard, not minding the snow as she went to where Mr. Snowy and his little girl stood. Once she stood in front of them, she carefully draped the new strand of popcorn and cranberries she and her daddy had made the night before, arranging it over their linked hands. Bending forward, she pressed her lips against the snowman’s cheek. “I’m going to miss you so much.”

“We’ll miss you too, Elena, but we’ll see you again soon.”

  “You will?”

“Of course. So, there’s no need to cry, little one. We’ll be waiting right here for you to come back.”

Elena was smiling even as she wiped her cheeks that were wet from tears she’d been unaware of. She turned around to find her daddy crouched down and threw her arms around his neck. “I love you, Daddy!”

“I love you too, baby girl. Now, let’s go home.”
