Catching the Jigglypuff Thief Page 7

“I saw it,” said Ethan, grinning. “I almost feel kind of bad.” Almost.

As he started to walk back toward the trailhead sign, Devin fell into step beside him. “So, Brayden didn’t steal your cap?”

“Nah,” said Ethan. “He did steal my puppy name, but that’s okay—I’m over it. I’m going to think of an even better one.”

  “Like what?” she asked.

When Ethan heard a commotion from behind, he stopped and turned. It was Gianna, jogging down the sidewalk. And this time, Carlo was right behind her.

As Ethan watched his teammates hurrying to catch up, the name came to him—the perfect name.

“There’s only one name we can give that puppy,” he said slowly. “Only one name that fits.”

“What is it?” said Devin, bouncing up and down on her toes. “Tell me already. I can’t stand it!”

He smiled and said, “Mystic. When we get our puppy, Devin, we’re going to name it Mystic.”
