by Andrew McGregor

Riaz stiffened, his eyes averting to straight ahead as his tone became official, the others standing to attention next to him, ‘Yes Ma’am! Mr Bland Sir! It is my duty to report…I report that I have now enlisted in the Trevakian Marines. I am assigned to this vessel as a garrisoned trooper!’

David’s eyes widened in horror, Captain Dugachard grinning and clapping her hands, ‘Good, well done…we will make a full marine out of you yet!’

The airport manager frowned, ‘What have you done…’

Dugachard interrupted, her tone solemn, ‘Who is this man and why he is not standing to attention in the presence of a more senior officer?’

Tregan frowned, winking secretively to Debra, ‘I am not sure Ma’am…shall I place him under arrest?’

David spluttered, his cheeks flushing, ‘But I am a…’

Dugachard raised her hand for him to be silent, ‘Enough of your insubordination…soldiers, escort this junior officer…’ She grinned widely, ‘...escort him to the upper bar of the vessel…I am keen to learn more about your planet and we will have an excellent view of the stars and Alexion One from up there!’

She marched past, her head turning as David viewed her curvaceous figure with relish, ‘Riaz…Shino…escort the prisoner up to the bar for some Trevakian wine…’ Her eyes glanced disapprovingly at the airport manager, ‘Tregan can also explain Trevakian etiquette…’

Dugachard hesitated, then smiled fleetingly at Riaz, ‘When we get to the bar you can tell me more about earth and its customs…after all, I have just become your new commanding officer!’

Shino giggled, jabbing Riaz in the ribs with her elbow as he groaned, ‘That serves you right…you cannot choose your commanding officer!’

Dugachard spun round, Tregan laughing quietly as he indicated for David Bland to proceed, ‘That’s not the only person he signed up young lady…the order applied to you too! Now fall in! It’s time we all had a drink…I think we deserve one!’

On the far side of Zaxon B, the engines on the Black Star glowed, the large Morgon Station sweeping cloaked from orbit and into deep space. On the bridge, Morgon commanders shrieked instructions to their crew, the navigators setting a new trajectory as the speed of the vast vessel increased.

Deep within the darkened incubation quarters of the vessel, over one hundred heavily armoured soldiers and hundreds of camouflaged grenadiers drifted into space travel slumber…one of the most elite units of the Morgon empire with the Black Death Battalion were being transported to a new battlefield…human earth.

Thank you for reading this book, I hope you enjoyed the experience as much as I did writing it.

  The Sequel: Planet Genocide II

With the tide of war on Zaxon B now finally turning in the Allies favour, earth faces its darkest and possibly last hours of freedom. In desperate measures to help their new allies, the remnants of the Trevakian ninth and tenth fleets are despatched towards the stricken planet, along with a vessel gifted by the Empire to their new ally, the perhaps aptly named Battle Cruiser Galactic Freedom.

With war raging across the galaxies, there is little hope of further assistance…earth must stand or fall with the resources available. Additional weapons and armour are in limited numbers, the planet transformed forever and beyond recognition as a merciless enemy advances on all fronts.

Humanity faces its greatest challenge for survival.

  Contributors:

I would like to thank four of my colleagues for their voluntary assistance with this project.

Kara Reed has offered continual encouragement throughout the previous book and the current projects. Listening to ideas and offering ideas on alternatives or additions to existing plot lines. This has been of considerable assistance and I am very grateful for the ‘on-call’ facility that emerged for me to express ideas and twists as they came to mind.

Sally Kemp has offered many ideas and sat politely listening to the ramblings as I formulated ideas and incidents in my mind. Patiently offering advice and never displaying frustration and impatience as I bounced from idea to idea. This has been immensely helpful and reassuring.

Kevin has helped with plots and offered structured ideas, including changes in direction or alternatives. Never complaining when I developed other ideas or rang/texted at inhospitable times. He provided an inspirational level of support during my bereavements and for that alone I will be eternally grateful.

David Axell provided valuable encouragement and plot ideas leading up to his retirement, often posing challenging ideas and thoughts that were excellent motivation and provoked ideas.

Lastly, readers’ feedback is most welcome, encouraging me to write further and to enhance what I have already written. I have thoroughly enjoyed writing this and the preceding books and hope, with your approval, to write more.
