Let’s hope Damon doesn’t find out all I have done since he left our last school. He told me while we sat here talking now that he has me in his sights; he isn’t letting me go anymore.
I enjoy knowing that he will always be here now. He still lays claim to my heart after all these years, and I have him as well. I hope that conniving witch inside doesn’t wrap her hands around him or anything he has. He belongs to me, tattoos and all. She doesn’t know me, I’ll beat her down if she tries to step between the two of us.
Damon leaned toward me, our lips inches apart. He pressed his lips on mine, sending electric currents throughout my entire body. Enjoying the feel of our skin together. His tongue on mine, competing for dominance to show he’s the Alpha and strongest. We are an even match in this game. My hands drift to the back of his neck, and my fingers glide through his hair as his hands slid down my back, stopping at my waist as he pulled me tight against him. I can feel how turned on he is as I gaze up into his lust-filled eyes.
Before anything else could happen. Nick, my asshole brother, interrupted us. He informed me I was being paged by my grandparents. We were walking inside when this idea popped into my head. Glancing between both boys I bent down, acting like I was tying my shoe when in fact, I had tied their shoes together. I take off running after slapping both on the back of the head, causing both boys to chase after me. Looking over my shoulder, I let my middle finger fly as I ran faster when I heard both boys cussing and chasing after me.
Bursting through the door, Damon slid to a sudden stop, causing Nick to slam into the back of him. “Will you get your big-headed ass out of the way? Shana tied our shoelaces together and slapped us on the back of our heads. We had to look for our pride on the floor. Well, at least there will never be a dull moment in the palace with the three of them, I heard the castle staff say.”
Chapter 6- I dare you.
Nighttime has come and gone. The morning rays shining through the slits of my eyes as I stretched and rolled around on my fluffy queen-sized pillow bed. Now that Shana has found her birth family, I wonder if she will turn her back on me or if she will continue to see me as her brother? Seeing her last night in the arms of that guy was kind of weird. Doesn't she realize how dangerous that is? Anything can happen if she gets involved with him, but she's an adult; I really can't say anything about who she kisses or takes in her bed. It's not like she would let me say anything. She has a way of getting back at people that rub her the wrong way. I have ended up on her bad side plenty of times, and it's not a pleasant sight.
If all goes well, this might turn out for the best for her. My parents raised her and all, but they mostly left her up to her own devices. She never had love from them, they're not affectionate people. I think they just adopted her so they could show her off during family events. I've seen Shana more at ease around Damon than anyone else; she seems more relaxed and happier. Almost like they belonged to each other.
As comfortable as this bed is, the thought of staying confined in it keeps running in circles in my head. But the smell of freshly brewed coffee and sizzling bacon is calling to me. I would marry bacon if it's possible and could happen, but you can't, so it is to be my lover, the only woman to have my true heart. What can I say to you? My stomach has a mind of its own!
After a quick shower and getting dressed, I ran downstairs to the dining room. Looking over at the table for once, I'm thankful I don't have to fight Shana this time for some bacon. There's a heap of different breakfast foods. You ever see two grown adults diving and beating each other up over bacon? It's not a good thing to see.
I looked over at her, and she was in deep conversation with the same man from last night. I wonder what their actual connection to each other is? "Shana, how do you know him? You two seem to be close, almost like you have known each other for some years."
Damon and I were sitting at the table enjoying breakfast and talking over old times when Nick came running into the kitchen and sat down, going straight for the bacon. "Nick quit rubbing the damn bacon, it's not even human. It's for eating stupid. You are an idiot, you know, that right?"
Nick flips me off while asking me about my connection to Damon and how we know each other. "Well, we've known each other since we were little. We went to the same elementary and middle school. He used to be my best friend back then. God willing something more in the future," as I turned and gazed over my shoulder, watching Damon with hope in my heart.
He has his signature smirk on that incredibly smooth and sharp face of his. Man, I want to run my fingers over his face and trace it like I am painting a masterpiece. Damon was talking to his friend about whatever is going on back at his place. I can't help but stare at the side of his face in a way I am glad to have him back around. I never realized how much I missed him.
Raina and my grandparents take this time to enter the room. And instead of sitting on the other side of the table by her family. She sits down beside Damon and brings him into a conversation with her. The entire second, she's leaning into him, batting her eyelashes at him or lightly placing a hand on his. Whatever that could give her some form of attention from him, he reacts in a way most men do, laugh, smile and touch here and there. And Raina laps it up like a dog in heat.
My insides felt like mush as my nerves got the better of me. I couldn't swallow over the lump that has formed in my throat. Deep in thought, I asked myself, What's the meaning behind these feelings of jealousy I'm having? Just the other night, he had his lips and hands all over me. Now his eyes are all over Raina, letting her touch him.
I peek over at Nick, and I can see the sad look in his eyes whenever it comes to me. He knows me so well I'm hurting, and he knows it. It'll be OK, he tells me with a smile on his face. I feel my phone vibrate. Taking my phone out, I glanced down to see who it is. Why is Jay calling? How did he get my number? I wondered as I answered the phone. Answering the phone, he called and invited me to go out for lunch and go on a tour of the city.
He hangs up the phone on his end with a click in my ear. I can feel everyone's gaze on me as I put my phone away. I glance up to see them staring at me. Nick asked me what was going on. "I'll tell you later," I told him as I stood up to leave.
“Shana is everything OK?" my grandfather asked. "Yeah, everything is fine. It was a friend asking to get together this afternoon for lunch.” Damon's head shot up really quick, staring at me with such hate in his eyes like I somehow had hurt his feelings.
How the hell is he going to get mad because someone wants to hang out with me? When he has someone hanging all over him? Rolling my eyes at him, I smirked and flipped him off, and happily said, “fuck you.” as I rose out of my seat and went to my bedroom to get ready. While I was getting ready, my door burst open, and in walks Damon “Yes, Damon, what do you want?”
He walks up to me, "Who was that on the phone, and where the hell do you think you're going, Shana?"
“Damon, not that it should matter to you, but I'm going out for lunch and a tour of the city with a friend. Why do you care anyway? It's not like I mean anything to you,” As I turned away from him, he grabbed my arms. I could feel his hands shaking as he tried discreetly to control his anger. It didn't help, though, as he raised his hand to strike me
I looked him dead in the eye. “I wish you would. If you manage to hit me, you better knock my ass out fast because when I stand up, I'm coming back swinging at you full force asshole.”
One thing my brother had Nick taught me growing up was never let a person put their hands on you. They hit you first, then you better hit back. If you date a man and he raises a hand to hit you, you better not stay in that relationship because if he hits you the first time, what's, going to stop him from killing you the next time.
Damon stared me in the eyes, at a loss for words. Guess he didn't expect me to stand toe to toe with him. Not every woman will stay in an abusive relationship, whether they are friends or your other half. I push him towards my open bedroom door to make him leave my room.
<
br /> “You shouldn't have come in without knocking on the door anyway, didn't your parents teach you correctly growing up? A woman's bedroom is her sanctuary, her personal space where she can kick, scream, break whatever she wants or lay there crying. If I wanted you in here, I would have told you to follow me, but I didn't.” With those last words, I slammed the door shut in his stunned face.
I finished getting ready and checked the time on my phone. I saw it was 3 minutes away from 11 and knew it was time to head out. Jay should be here any minute. Upon opening the front door, and to my surprise, Jay was leaning up against his car.
Chapter 7- Beach Party
Jay opens the door like a gentleman so I could get in, Damon and Nick rush out. Damon is trying to stop me from leaving with him and Nick to see his newfound friend. Damon tried to grab my arm to pull me behind him. That did not go over well with Jay. I did not know it, but Jay had gotten a glimpse of the dark bruise on my arm from where Damon had grabbed me earlier. Which is why Jay looked like he was ready to beat Damon’s face in for him!
“Damon, let me go. You have a girlfriend inside the house, go back to her. What I do is my business, now leave me alone,” I told him as I twisted and jerked my arm out of his grasp. With all the commotion going on, the boys had not seen my grandfather come out.
My grandfather marched up to the boys with some of his men to split them up. “Now, what’s the meaning of all this?” He demanded as the men split them up.
"Shana’s leaving with this no-account trash," Damon told him.
Jay growled at him and would have put his hands on Damon if it had not been for my grandfather. “I may be a no-account trashy person, as you say. But I am not the one going around putting my hands on a woman, now, am I?”
“Jay, what are you talking about?” Asked my grandfather.
“Dean, if you raise her shirt sleeve, you will see she has marks on her arms.” I went over to my grandfather after he called me, so he could inspect the marks on my arm.
“Damon, why are there marks on her like this? She was fine when she left the dining room this morning,” asked my grandfather, looking from inspecting my arms. And he was furious.
“What? It’s not like I hit her. I just grabbed her a little roughly.”
“Damon, you can’t put your hands on her. She is not your wife, let alone your girlfriend. You know what? Get the hell out of here. You want to put your hands on her and try to stop her from seeing whoever she is with.”
“But yet you never told her you are engaged to Raina, now did you? Life is not a double standard. You can’t be engaged with one person and try to control what another person does.”
Now, mind you, the king does not go around stepping into the middle of a random argument. Unless it comes to his family, then it becomes his business.
Not everyone likes a woman abuser, no matter who the person is or where he comes from. In everyday society, we frown upon men who abuse women. And will put a man in prison or a grave, whichever comes first.
“Shana, why don’t you and your friend take off? We will see you when you get back here later. Just be back before it gets too late. That’s when all the trouble begins outside.”
I opened the passenger side door as Shana slid in after everyone else went back in the house for the day. As we head out into the countryside, she hooks up her phone to my audio aux and plays fake love by BTS. She starts dancing and singing along with the song, the way she moves is mesmerizing.
She is a little on the short side with her being 5ft 5in, but Shana has the perfect figure, not too thin and too fat. Big-chested and Junk in the trunk to match, tanned with light blonde hair frosted blue on the tips.
Eyes so soft and clear like the deep blue Ocean ones I can gaze in all day. I cannot believe he had the nerve to put his hands on her. As we grow from childhood to adulthood, the people we meet can end up being friends for a short while or for the rest of our lives. But what happens when that friend turns possessive and does not want you around anyone other than them? Even if they have a girlfriend or not, some friendships have ended because of that.
Driving down the winding road of the countryside, we sat in comfortable silence. Thinking about the past few hours. Shana leaned against the other door with hurt in her eyes. “Shana don’t let him get you upset like this. He’s not worth it.”
“Jay, we have been friends ever since we were little, and never once did I dream, he would do that to me. I thought after seeing each other for the first time, after being away all these years, that everything would be fine, like when we were little.”
“But he changed so much Damon couldn’t be honest with me when he first saw me again. Sure, he gave me a hug when he first walked into the room, and later that night, a hug here and kiss there happened. He told me I was his love forever.”
“I felt a connection, a spark like he was the other half I was missing. Why couldn’t he be honest and let me know he was already engaged and to the girl that hates my guts of people?”
“Look, Shana, I’m not trying to defend Damon, only telling you how I see it ok? People change as they get older. What you thought of Damon then differs from what he became as he got older. He developed feelings over the years, and seeing you threw him on his ass, he never expected it. Plus, his heart is telling him you belong to him even though he is with someone else.”
How Shana described when she first met Damon to how he reacted when he saw me come pick her up led me to believe he was her Mate. The least he can do is reject her.
That way Damon spares her the heartache she will face when seeing him with another woman. She will not just see it, but she will feel it as well. The human heart can only take so much heartache before it breaks. And depression sets in.
The Lush green scenery of rolling hills and cascading waterfalls that go by as we drive down the road has a calming effect. Houses scattered miles apart make the outing worthwhile.
“Where are we going for lunch, Jay?” I asked.
As he looks over at me with a smirk on his face, “it’s a surprise!”
40 minutes later, we pulled up to a secluded beach. Getting out of the car, we walked through the low-cut green grass down to the sandy shore that stretched for miles. In the water, you can see the dolphins swimming around and playing tag in the water below the shoreline.
There were a few people already on the beach cooking and partying, having a grand time. “Jay, who are all these people?”
“They’re my friends and family, Shana.”
People turned around as we stepped closer to the group. Out of nowhere, a football came flying straight at Jay’s face in no time. He had caught the ball. Scanning around to see where it came from. We spotted a couple of guys standing around pointing fingers at each other.
“I should have figured it came from those idiots,” I heard Jay murmur under his breath. He looks at the tallest of the group, “Mikey, you got to the count of 5 to run.”
Mikey looks back at Jay with an evil grin on his face. “How about I tell your friend how you still sleep with a pink and silver teddy bear?”
Jay took one step towards Mikey, who ran off like the hounds of hell were at his heels. Seconds passed, and Jay had tackled Mikey to the ground, wrestling around. Mikey gets a few hits in. But Jay’s bigger than he is. The next thing I knew, everybody heard a loud squeal as Jay straddled over Mikey’s waist, tickling him.
“Jay, stop, you better keep that nasty stuff in your mouth, you spit on me, and you will not sleep tonight. I will super glue your eyelids open and duct tape your hands together with syrup all over your bed.”
Everyone laughed the entire time at the Foolery the boys have gotten into. “Is this a regular occurrence with the boys?” I asked one person around who had joined me in watching the game.
While standing there with a smile on my face, two females come over with drinks in their hands. “Hi, I’m Destiny, the girl with short rainbow-colored hair said. The girl standing next to me is Constance.

“Hi, I’m Shana,” I said with a slight smile.”
“How do you know Jay?” She asked me.
I told them he had come with the man my grandparents sent to find me and bring me back here.
“Sorry for asking. It is strange to see a new face around here. Jay rarely brings females to our cookout or other family functions. You’re the first female to be at one.” People can be so nosy at times or is it just me. Makes you wonder if any of these women had any kind of romantic involvement with Jay.
Chapter 8 – Pain Cometh
As we stand there talking. Jay came and stood behind me, winding his arms around my shoulder. I leaned back snuggling deeper into his chest, enjoying the warmth he offered. He purred from his throat; his chest rumbled as I pressed my tighter into the confines of his chest. I chuckled at the weird feeling. Wait a minute, was he purring like a dog? Who does that?
Whipping my head around, I gazed into his eyes. “Hold up, did you just purr?” I asked. While he winked at me with a smirk on his lips.
Jay leaned down, whispering into my ear, “Will you let me lick you?” he said. As he laid his head on my shoulder, biting and nibbling on my neck, and blowing in my ear. He has some major explaining to do later when we leave. I giggled nervously, down boy.
Out of nowhere, I get this searing pain that had me doubled over and screaming in agony. “What is the matter with me?” I cried out as tears flowed down my face. I turned to Jay for help. He looked at me with concern, not knowing what was wrong or what to do. Sara ran over to me, checking me out with worry in her eyes. Black spots have formed around the sides of my eyes. The only sound that I heard before everything went dark was Jay screaming out my name as I hit the ground.
“Sara, what happened to her?” I asked my cousin when Shana fell in my lap.
