Baba Yaga walked through. In her matron form, she wore dark purple robes that swirled around her with a self-contained breeze.
He lowered the sword and closed the portal behind her. “I wasn’t expecting you back so soon.”
She tucked her own amethyst amulet back inside her robes. “I found what I sought.”
“And?”
She shrugged. “How much time you got?”
He walked back to the corner and returned his sword to its sheath before heading for the kitchen.
This can’t be good. “The usual, my dear?”
She followed him. “Neat, no ice. I suggest one for you, too.”
He paused, turning to stare at her. “That bad?”
She let out a sigh. “I’ll leave that up to you to decide.”
