  Chapter 1

We were so screwed. I couldn’t help the song in my heart though. Ari lived.

Once Ari and I finished giving her new improved body a workout we had discussed the possible issues of our situation and then thought over what we should do next as we improved the camp. We decided even if the new young king was aware of their treachery he may for now have no alternative but to pretend to believe it and act that way for now.

We had spent some time improving the camp, and had even retrieved some valuables in the dark of night from our room at the mage training building. The only thing we were really still missing was our horses. I didn’t think it would be a good idea to fast travel with horses; they would no doubt panic and hurt themselves and possibly us as well. We didn’t really need them anymore anyway.

The more I thought over the king’s situation I was sure that if he tried to confront the seneschal and Avery they would just kill and replace him too. Still, thanks to James’ confession during our first trip to Hunter’s Ridge, we believed the king either deceived or that he had chosen to play along until he could be rescued.

That afternoon I gave Sienna her first sword lesson, teaching her a few basic moves. She wasn’t a natural at it like she had been at archery, but she wasn’t helpless either. I believed with a lot of hard work she would make a good swordswoman if she was forced to switch from her bow.

We got back together that night to share our ideas over dinner and a campfire.

“We need help I think to face so many. How about we go to Hunter’s Ridge? I don’t believe Linden would fall for any lies coming out of the capitol.”

Ari replied, “It may work out that way, but I don’t believe Linden is in charge anymore. What are the chances the three replacements sent there are all not involved, especially with the seneschal having a say on who was sent? I agree Linden and Amy wouldn’t but… it would still be a risk.”

Sienna said softly, “Do we really need to do anything? If we stay and fight we risk pushing the country into civil war as both lies and truth will push the mages to choose a side. That will weaken Cirenthia even more before Rhimera attacks. I don’t like the idea of them winning, but neither of you hold loyalty oaths to this country, and I’m just a commoner.”

I considered that before I replied, “I had thought of that as well, just go west into the Arinith forest and let things settle as they would here. The problem is if we don’t stay and fight the conspiracy that seems to be winning out, there is a good chance the Arinith Elves will be attacked and a war started. I’d rather not show up trying to join Ari’s family with that kind of trouble behind us.

“There are two reasons we need to stay for now. One is to protect Ari’s and what will be our future Elven clan, and to stop the needless suffering here from that war. There will be enough of that when Rhimera attacks. If there is a civil war… better here where the problem is than to drag Arinith into it. Secondly, they plotted our Ari’s death and tried to kill us, it doesn’t sit well with me to let that pass. I honestly see them as bad as Rhimera would be if not worse. They are ruthless and care nothing for the population.”

I frowned, “We just need to figure out the best way to approach it. We could try stealth, try to sneak around the capitol and kill the conspirators, recruit the king and others quietly. Or we need to go to the other towns and free them first.”

Ari sighed, “If we do that at Hunter’s Ridge again, the goblins would attack as soon as we left. Even if they were all on our side, they can’t exactly leave with us for the capitol or the same would happen. If we recruit help for a strong frontal assault in Ciren to free the king it would have to be from Cliff’s Edge and Star’s Cove. There seem to be drawbacks and risks no matter what we may decide to do.”

Sienna nodded. “There are a lot more of the smaller towns away from the northern border, but like Cliff’s edge they have the mayor and maybe one roving mage there at a time. If we built up a force of those, we’d be leaving the towns without protection and leadership. There really aren’t that many mages, perhaps even less than I was lead to believe growing up as a commoner. I was surprised there were only four besides the two of you at the capitol for training.”

Ari said in exasperation, “We need advice from someone who would know the real numbers, and have an idea which course we should take. None of the three of us, an ambassador, new arrival, or a commoner has a complete picture. The question is who can we trust? I would trust Linden, but there are three unknowns in the picture. We don’t even know what communications were sent out from Ciren, even if they weren’t traitors they could kill us if they were given direct orders to attack us on sight…”

They both got up and cuddled into me when we were done with our dinner. It was frustrating, how were we supposed to reverse a takeover that had already succeeded.

I frowned, “The oaths don’t help either, they’re backwards.”

Sienna asked, “What do you mean?”

I sighed, “On my world there were a lot of governments that performed heinous acts in the name of protecting their country. People forget that the country is actually the people, not just the land and especially not the government that is supposed to protect it. The ones who took over will sacrifice lives in the name of protecting their country, when actually it’s just a way to retain their power.

“The oaths are country, king and then the people; it should be people, king, and then the country. They’ll raise armies and steal food from the farmers, and raise taxes just to start and claim it’s for the good of all or the greater good. There will be no limits on them as they prepare for war with Rhimera.

“I’m getting a little off my point, the idea being it makes a civil war more probable. Remember those kids at mage training? They think nothing of those below them, there is a good chance once things get rolling half the mages won’t really care, or even will join them willingly. After all, the king isn’t there to tell them to not do it anymore. I think gathering a force would be a mistake, half the people we talked to would probably join the other side.”

Sienna asked, “So what are we going to do?”

I sighed, “The bar is set by the king, we need to use stealth, and try to free him from the radical influences of the seneschal and Avery. The king will be able to fix it from that point. A more balanced approach to going to a war footing might drag both sides into cooperation.”

Ari asked, “You think the conspirators are right?”

/>   I nodded, “There are examples of great empires falling on my world. After they grew complacent they were overthrown. I’m afraid the original king would have been this kingdom’s downfall from outside attack; the new regime will destroy the kingdom from within while trying to save it. We need to help the new king find middle ground if we can. If we can’t, at least restoring his throne will take attacking the Elves off the table, and then we can just leave as Sienna suggested and leave them to their fate.

“We don’t want to wait too long, but let’s think about how to do that and then formulate a plan tomorrow from our ideas. We need to take out the two conspirators when they’re hardly ever apart from the rest of the mages there. We can’t depend on anyone choosing our side or even listening to us until the conspirators are dead.”

I felt the great weight of responsibility on me. Ari and Sienna were content to help me plan, but it was clear they expected the final decision to rest with me. I didn’t like any of our options and didn’t want to put either of them in danger but that was inevitable. I had almost lost my mind when Ari had been dying in my arms. I wasn’t sure I could take that again. They may have put me in the position to lead, the head of the family, but the truth was every decision I made would be with them in mind.

  They were my world now.

When I looked at Sienna I could see magic in her blood. It was a small amount, nothing close to what Ari and I had. If something happened to her would the limited magic that gathered in her blood be enough to support the enchantment? Could I feed it myself if that wasn’t the case?

Problem was I wasn’t sure if Ari would still be able to have children. Could I even have them? I really wasn’t sure. On Earth I was certain the answer was no, the spell didn’t have enough power to give its host life, much less worry about turning on that portion of things.

I suppose it depended on the one who made the original spell, was that important to them or was it all just about living forever? I figured we would find out in the next couple of months at the latest, if Ari could have the child I knew instinctively she wanted for us.

It would bother me as well, now that I had found love with these two amazing women, but I was more worried about her and what she would do if she couldn’t. I kissed Ari softly then turned and kissed Sienna.

I had come a long way in understanding this world in a general way, but I’d only been in the capitol for a few days. I still didn’t have much of a grasp on the families or how they interacted. I had planned to take the time to read some histories as well as books on spell casting, but I didn’t see how that would happen now.

At least not until this conspiracy was put down, if it even could be.

We were all thoughtful as we watched the sun disappear behind the horizon and the stars slowly appeared in the darkening sky. I would do what I had to in order to protect them. They were mine and I was most assuredly theirs. I would take the risk to protect both Sienna’s home and Ari’s, but when it came down to the bottom line I would let it all burn to protect them. I would risk them for what we all believed in, to do less wouldn’t be living a life, but I would never sacrifice them in a futile gesture.

No, if the odds were too long, just like the day Ari almost died, I would take them and run.

The words just slipped out, a soft spoken pledge to my wife and promised mate, “I love you both, and we’ll find a way through this.”

Sienna turned my head and said softly, “I love you too Marcus,” and then she kissed me softly but with passion, when she broke our kiss she said, “You too Ari, I was really upset when…”

I could see her eyes were a bit tear filled.

Ari leaned over me and hugged her tightly, “I love you too Sienna, sister of my heart. You are both my future family and I wish to give you my second name. I am Ari Lira.”

I held them both protectively as they hugged each other against my chest. They were both pretty emotional and the challenges of the last few days had strengthened our ties. It was hardly the time, but their soft bodies pressed up against me caused me to react. They were both so beautiful and precious to me.

Ari released Sienna. Then she kissed me and whispered in my ear sultrily, “This sense of smell is amazingly strong. I can smell your reaction to us and it’s driving me to distraction. I want you now.”

I knew what she meant, I could smell her moistening arousal and it was all I could do not to just take her. For Sienna it wasn’t quite as obvious, but she was picking up on our pheromones as well and the scent of her responding arousal was getting to me as well.

The mood had definitely changed. Ari claimed my lips hungrily and I felt Sienna soft lips and wet warm tongue work its way from my shoulder up to my neck. We usually made love separately, one at a time, but I could tell this was going to be one of the rare times they shared me together.

Sienna claimed my mouth after Ari pulled my shirt over my head and started to kiss her way down my chest. I had one hand on the back of both of their heads, playing with their hair and teasingly caressed the sensitive backs of their necks with my fingertips.

I gasped into Sienna’s mouth as she reached into my breeches and fished out my hardened pleasure. She stroked it twice then held the base as I felt Ari’s silken lips wrap around my tip and slowly suck me into her warm mouth. Ari lavished my pleasure with the sensations of her tongue, lips, and throat. I was so hard it almost hurt when she popped her mouth off of me.

Sienna stopped kissing me and looked down when Ari touched her gently on the hip, guiding her to mount me. The look of love, lust, and desire on Ari’s beautiful face was captivating as she reached out and grabbed the base of my shaft, lining me up with Sienna’s glistening pleasure. There was no jealousy there, it was almost as if she was giving Sienna to me and me to her, there was only love and desire in Ari’s silver eyes.

I gasped and my member jumped as Sienna’s soft wet pleasure engulfed me one inch at a time. I pulled Ari closer and started kissing her passionately, my hand teasing her body. My hand ran down her perfect body and between her legs. I teased her silken wet lips with my fingertips the best I could as Sienna’s core rippled and massaged along my entire length.

The control Sienna had over her muscles was absolutely insane as she ground softly on me. Sienna whimpered in pleasure as I hit all her good spots.

Ari gasped as I finally slid two fingers between her ready lips and teasingly rubbed her g-spot as I thumbed her swollen clit.

Ari leaned in and whispered, “Goddess, I love watching her ride you.”

She gasped as she came on my fingers and collapsed against my body. Sienna started rubbing Ari’s back and hair as she rode me sensuously. I felt Sienna tighten around me uncontrollably as her body trembled for the first time tonight. She leaned forward, her soft breasts pressed to my chest as she started to mewl into my ear softly.

The sensation of both women against me, and their rise to pleasure was too much for my control. I gave in to my body’s need as Sienna’s undulating sheath milked out my seed.

Sienna purred in pleasure as I filled her. When we all recovered we stayed that way for a while and kissed each other. It didn’t take me long to recover under the loving attention of them both.

When Sienna felt me start to expand within her she moved off of me and guided Ari into her place. The touches shared between them weren’t full of lust, just love and the desire to share pleasure as Sienna fed my hard length to Ari’s tight wet sex.

Ari didn’t grind and go slow like Sienna did. She started riding me hard immediately, the slick velvety tight and wet friction along my manhood made me moan in pleasure.

Sienna smiled mysteriously and reached around and under Ari’s bouncing torso and started to play with my balls.

I pulled Ari’s body closer to mine and sucked in one of her large hardened nipples as I kneaded the supple flesh of one of her perfect B cup breasts. I looked down when I felt fingertips where Ari and I were joined and was surprised to see Sienna’s other hand ma
nipulating Ari’s clit.

Ari said between gasping breaths, “Oh my goddess,” right before she tightened around my girth and flooded my pole with her nectar. I wasn’t close again yet, round two I knew I could last a lot longer so I waited for her to recover and kissed her neck and whispered sweet nothings in her ear as she trembled against my body.

When she came down she looked over at Sienna who looked a little nervous.

Sienna said to Ari tentatively, “I hope that was okay? I don’t… really go for woman that way. But I love you, and it seemed foolish not to give both of you pleasure as you both…” she kind of trailed off.

Ari got off of me and guided Sienna back on before she said smiling, “It’s not something I would seek outside of with our mate, but you’re right.”

Ari blushed before she added breathlessly, “Now it’s your turn.”

I’m not sure how many times they switched off, but they did after each orgasm they had. As for them sharing pleasure I was happy with it. I always felt overwhelmed in a threesome, knowing I couldn’t give nearly as much pleasure to both when they had my mind spinning with the pleasure they gave me together. Over the evening and late into the night they both claimed my seed more than once while I pleasured the other with my mouth and fingertips…

  Chapter 2

By midmorning the next day we had just about talked our options to death. We needed more information. I had the feeling the new king was in trouble, but that wasn’t really assured. Friesa had told us the heir was as worthless as his father, but it was possible he was actually involved, and most of the conspirators weren’t told. It even made sense if you consider they assumed some would be caught and questioned.

We had been watching the new king as well as the seneschal and guard we were sure had betrayed the old king. The new king wasn’t acting visibly upset or untrusting of his guard or the seneschal; of course he was probably well trained not to show his emotions. Most leaders were. The bottom line was we needed to talk to him first, see where he stood. If he was in on it, then he’d already won.
