“There is something I need to tell you,” she said.
He laughed and shook his head. “I love you too, Billie Rae Johnson.”
She smiled. “That too.” She brushed a lock of his hair back from his forehead and turned serious. Just last week she’d gotten the tests back. “How do you feel about being a father?”
His brown eyes lit up and he let out another whoop as he picked her up again and spun her in a circle.
“Put that woman down!” Marshall called as he came out the back door of the main house.
“Billie Rae and I are havin’ a baby!” Tanner called back.
“Isn’t that putting the cart before the horse?” Marshall asked, grinning as Tanner led Billie Rae over to him.
“She might be a little gun-shy of marriage,” Tanner said, eyeing her. “But I was about to ask her.” He got down on one knee. He’d been carrying the ring around in his pocket for weeks like a good luck charm. “Marry me and make me the happiest man in Montana.”
Billie Rae let her heart answer.
