Chapter VIII: Enigma
Walls of ivory lined the vast amount of land known as Enigma. The temperature here was back to normal. It was the perfect mix of crisp air and warmth. It was if the sun reached down like a comforting kiss. The land was not corrupted by Silver's touch. They were glad to be home. Even though they had not exactly succeeded on their quest.. They needed to recover and rethink. Also, there was a new mission to find a way to return Sylvia to her own land.
Tall iron gates met them where the stone path ended. Two guards were posted, They were armor clad from sturdy boots to helmet. Long sheathed swords hung at their side.
They entered the magical land of Enigma. A cool gust of wind blew towards them. It was as if it was a welcome back. People of the town bustled about their day on the cobblestone streets. Not many dressed poorly. Queen Quara was a generous ruler, but could only do so much to take care of the people. Laziness was something unacceptable to her.
The smells from the bakeries and cooks in town mixed in the air to greet their noses. Smells of cinnamon spices and breads filled the square. Small children danced and played. Young girls wove flower necklaces in the garden. Yes, it was wonderful to be back.
The Enigma palace was a beautiful sight. The palace was white stone. It rose up to meet blue-grey tops that met at a point. There were several windows and many rooms.
The healers were summoned to the room Sylvia was in. Two spiritual looking beings appeared. They were feminine, and wore garments of the purest, brightest of long, silky white dresses. Their hair was long and white. Their skin seemed to glow. “Greetings, Zell. May we heal your wounds?” A soothing, sweet voice spoke. The eyes of the woman were almost too much to look into. There was an unseen, but strong aura felt around them. Their eyes were a bright blue with kind faces.
“Mine are minor. Sylvia has struggled with that ankle for some time now. It has been hurt twice. I hope it is not broken. If you could comfort any emotional pain she has, also it would be appreciated.” He said selflessly.
“How noble of you.” The lady said as she placed her palm against his forehead. The other lady slipped into see Sylvia. Zell closed his eyes as he felt a warmth that flowed through his whole body. It was as if his body and spirit was being cleansed. He felt so refreshed. He opened his eyes. The stinging pain he had felt before was gone.
“Thank you, Thera.”
The other lady walked out of Sylvia's room. “Peia, is the girl conscious now?” Thera asked.
“She is having a peaceful, deep sleep now.” Peia replied to Thera, and then advised Zell. “Healing emotional wounds takes a Higher Being. Time also heals. Prayer works if you have faith.”
Thera smiled in agreement and added her own advice. “If there is something precious in front of your eyes that you want to keep, then go after it.”
Zell thanked them both. He walked into Sylvia's room. She looked so innocent as she laid there in the bed asleep. Maids had cleaned her up, and given her a change of clothes. Queen Quara stood at the door. “She deserves some rest now after a long journey.” She spoke softly.
“Yes, she does.” Zell agreed.
“I will have a couple of the palace maids look after her. I will inform you when she awakes.” Queen Quara told him.
While Sylvia slept, she had a long, deep dream. For once, it was not full of nightmares.
