Romy did not look like a happy Fae Hunter when he led Faulk out of the hallway. “Son of a bitch threw a fireball at me,” he said, stomping behind the bar and pulling a beer from the cooler. “Then he locked me in. I hate that guy.”

“Good, because I had to sell us to his brother in order to end this debacle.” Faulk stood behind Lia and wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her against him. “Do you feel like opening and running the bar for the evening?”

“Uh huh.” Romy stared at them, sipping his beer. “And you will be where?”

Lia’s face heated. She was going to have to get past being embarrassed, although if she had to endure many of Christof’s sleet showers, heat wouldn’t be an issue.

Faulk gave her a squeeze. “I don’t know, exactly. Lia, where will we be?”

She caught Romy’s gaze and could see by the light in his eyes that he wasn’t nearly as annoyed as he pretended. “We’ll be taking a taxi to a hotel, uptown.”

Where she had a room paid for in cash, and a large bed with thick pillows and silky sheets.
