Okay, Gia thought, so maybe the fact that Giglio insisted on staying on at the house as their head of security had a little to do with her feeling safe when she woke up in those cold sweats. After all, there was a difference between ignorance and preparedness.
She turned from the stove to drape her arms around her husband’s neck and kiss him deeply, staring into eyes that reflected the love that expanded in her own chest. Besides, could anybody anywhere ever say they were completely safe? The key was to do as much as you could, and then live every moment as if it was your last.
Because it very well could be.
