A Curse Of Glass And Iron (Dark Heralds Book 2) Page 25

by Lynn S.

It was a beautiful sight, but still, both of them laughed, confessing to find it slightly unnerving. She was not too fond of open water, and to say he held an aversion to mirrors was an understatement.

As they grew closer, this time he saw in her that which he had waited for the last time they had been together.

Marissa felt as if her heart had allowed her to feel once more. Her skin woke to a pleasant and warm sensation while her lips allowed a shy, yet hopeful smile.

With a tender touch, Garan curved his finger underneath her chin. Nolton bit his lower lip, drawing blood as they locked in a kiss.

Marissa not only tasted it, but pursued it, deepening the kiss, losing herself in a frenzy that was more than passionate. It was a definite moment that sealed a blood bond between them.

Something snapped within her as she realized the consequence of it all. That evening, before she left their beachside condo, Adriana had held her a little longer than usual. There was a reason. She felt the bond of vampyr and dhampyr wearing out as her instinct readied to be submitted to another.

And then, nothing and everything happened.

“I’d hate to bring your mother into this, darlin’, but you need not worry about her, or about me.” Garan gave her time to realize what had just transpired.

She was free, entirely, as she once was.

“And yet, if you’ll have me…”

She said yes without a word. Her instinct, that guiding force she had made peace with, knew it to be right. He’d let her be, even if there was a time in which he’d put his life on the line for her; he’d ask for nothing more than what she was willing to give. As for the monster who lived within him, a creature separated from the world by time and circumstances…it stayed deep within, peeking out once a while at the edge of perception, surprised at the fact that he loved her too.

It’s unbelievable that I’m still here. I have weathered a few storms between book one and book two and there are a lot of people to keep close to my heart.

RK Close, author of The Vampire Files, you are the queen of all things that go bump in the night. Being able to travel this road with you, sometimes under your protection…wow! There aren’t enough thank yous.

Leila Adams and May Freighter, sisters in mischief. You are a treasure trove of talent, beautiful people inside out. Thanks for just being there.

Aimee Irizarry Diaz, best friend, cheerleader, head of the “Save Marissa Campaign.” Your input has always made a big impact. And yes, you made me laugh all the way through a change of heart.

To my family, who no longer asks questions when I get into weird writing gear. Your patience means a lot to me.

Lori Whitwam and Limitless Publishing, you are amazing. Whenever I get that yes, I can feel the enthusiasm running through and it makes me want to be a better writer.

Gillian Leonard, whenever you approve something from red into white, an angel gets its wings. Oh dear, I have made you responsible for a whole heavenly chorus, haven’t I?

Finally, to you. Yes, to you, dear reader. You have made it to this last bit, and for that, I’m eternally grateful. You went out there and gave a chance to a first-time writer and her weird little story about scheming Fae and the vampires who fight them. Then you returned. You know what that means to me? It means the world.

  About the Author

Hi there! My name is Lynnette Santiago. As you can see, I’m still working my way through the Dark Herald of Fae Series.

I have been an assistant librarian, a debt collector, a security guard, a medical assistant, and an office manager for a beauty school. It all counts as research, if you ask me.

I’m a family and friends driven person, and a bit of an odd-ball.

For those of you following the wilderness saga outside my lanai, yes, the raccoon still visits my yard. This time he is fighting it out with a territorial turtle that has crowned herself queen of the green.

I love writing, that’s a given. It is freedom from illness, strength, solace, and most of all, fun. I’ll stop the day I don’t sit in front of my keyboard sporting a smile.

I’ll offer you a measure of horror, fantasy, and a wacky version of romance to help things move along. It’s my goal in life to keep you entertained.
