Rules of Payne (Cake Love Book 1) Page 6

by Elizabeth Lynx

It was his action that I craved. And when he began spanking me again as I sucked his fingers I didn’t believe anything could be better than this, that these swift flicks of pain could turn so quickly into everything I had ever wanted. I wished it would never end, but of course it had to.

“Get up,” Henrik said, removing his fingers from my lips.

I did as he said. Didn’t I always? Even when I disagreed I did as he told. This time I adamantly disagreed with my boss.

Standing, I turned to argue with him. Tell him no more almost orgasms. No teasing. I was tired of this play.

But what I saw had my vagina clapping her hands and even my brain faltered.

Henrik sat there, slack in his chair, tie askew. His suit wrinkled partly from me and partly from his hand as he rubbed at the thick bulge in his pants.

But that wasn’t even the best part. It was the fingers of his other hand. The ones that were just on my lips. He had plunged them deep into his mouth, busy sucking.

“So, are you just going to sit there and come in your pants or what?”

Part of me was still pissed off. I was selfish. Maybe even a little addicted to what he was doing to me. I wanted more, not just something he could masturbate to.

I think it pissed him off too.

Henrik stood, grabbed my waist and turned me so my back was to him. He snaked his hand around the front of my body and slipped his fingers up over my chest before cradling my neck forcing my head back.

Yup, I was going to die tonight. Maybe that’s why he’s always losing assistants. He tried to choke them when they ask for orgasms. I do not have good taste in men.

What made this worse? He was rubbing his hard cock between my ass cheeks. Taunting me with what I would never have again. Morgana Drake would die this night choked for her own sexual frustration.

“You and that smart mouth of yours, Ms. Drake,” he said just before edging his tongue along my ear.

My nipples were so tight and I shivered. The fear mixed with my hormones seemed to heighten everything.

Was he going to kill me or tease me to death?

I swallowed and realized he was barely touching me. His fingers like feathers as they traced my neck. Thankfully I wasn’t ticklish.

The fear melted into something solid, with legs.

“Is that your thing, Mr. Payne? A dirty girl with a smart mouth?”

Maybe I shouldn’t have said that being in the position I was in, but the way he had touched me caused me to wonder if he wanted me as much as I wanted him. Only the strict Henrik Payne might be a little afraid of what that desire would bring.

How his assistant from a year ago tried to sue him for sexual harassment. I knew he still felt the burn from that.

  “You’re my thing, Morgana.”

My heart fluttered and for a moment I faltered. I wanted that to be true. I wanted to be his thing, but there were problems with that wish. There was Tiffany. There was his previous assistant. There were our jobs.

  “Then show me, Henrik.”

I think my vagina is holding my mouth hostage. Despite my worries I keep pushing him.

Not just that, but I let him too. I gave in to his touch. Like now, as he pushed my legs apart with his knee I easily moved. The slightest effort on his part and I become air. Swirling around him.

And when I heard his zipper I didn’t gasp. No moan from my lips. I bit my lip hard to contain anything that might let him know I was so easy. That he could slip right through and see everything in me.

It didn’t matter what I said because he found out anyway. I could feel him. The tip of his cock slid along where he pushed my panties out of the way.

Slick. I was so wet that I could hear him gasp. Maybe he groaned. But he knew.

A man like Henrik probably doesn’t have to work very hard for a woman. He’s rich. He’s successful. And he’s gorgeous. A wet woman is just another day of the week for him.

“Is this what you want, Morgana?” He leaned down to whisper in my ear and continued to grind on me.

Yes, Henrik. I want to be your dirty girl. I hate that I want that. That you have some touch that angers me and at the same time causes me to melt into nothing.

And I love that you give me things I never thought I wanted. Touch me in ways I never had been before.

The tip of your cock as it rubs me just right, not quite inside me, is the best thing I have experienced in my life. That makes me want to scream in anger, in glory, and in frustration.

Only I never got the chance to scream because the door opened.

  Evaleen Bechmann entered the room.

  TEN

  Payne’s Rule

Why even have rules if you always break them?

  My worst nightmare.

You know those dreams that cause you to wake in a cold sweat? When you realize it was just a dream a huge wave of relief courses through your body.

Yeah, this wasn’t a dream. This was a horrific nightmare.

I was about to have sex with the woman of my fantasies. The sexiest woman I had ever met and Evaleen Bechmann walked in.

“Hey, Drake. I’m ready for lunch now. Sor—” Bechmann stood like a grizzly bear caught in headlights at my office door. She didn’t even knock, just entered like the rude person she was.

The only good thing about this was she couldn’t see my dick shriveling up inside me, afraid to ever come out again. The bad news was that I was in a situation where Evaleen Bechmann could have seen my dick in my hands.

This would officially come to be known as the year 0 AB: After Bechmann. It was as if I didn’t exist before this moment because I WAS SO SCREWED.

She immediately departed, closing the door behind her but the damage was done. Even though it was my dick between Morgana’s thighs and I was the one who spanked my assistant, I still blame Bechmann for this horse shit. Because she’s awful.

I did the only thing I could do in this situation, I got myself dressed and opened my laptop. Sitting in my chair, I got back to the Denton file.

Work was the only thing that could relieve this level of stress.

“So, that’s it? Like nothing happened, same as usual.” Morgana adjusted herself, but I heard the frustration in her voice.

I would have been frustrated too if I were her. She was going to get fired too, because hell if I was going down alone. Also, I was rethinking my desperate need to have sex with her. Look at where it had gotten me.

“What do you want me to do, Morgana? The head of HR just found us in a very compromising position. I’m going to get as much work done as I can before they come in here with a cardboard box and a security guard and ask me to clean out my desk.”

That seemed to anger her even more.

“Fine. You sit there and accept defeat, but I’m going to at least attempt to save my job.”

Clicking her heels as she made her way toward the door, I jumped up to go after her. It was bad enough to be caught like this but what if Morgana told Bechmann everything? The bathroom incident, when I messed with her in sales, and on the couch in here?

“Wait. Um, how are you going to do that?”

“By speaking with my mouth, Mr. Payne. I find pink sticky notes to be totally ineffective and cheap.” She gave me a hardened smile and tried to play with my lip, but I smacked it away.

“Ms. Drake, I’m not your puppy dog. And last I checked, I’m still your boss so if you could just answer the question without being a smartass.”

She firmed her stance while crossing her arms over her chest. “You were. A moment ago you were much more than my boss, which is why we are in this predicament. If I may quote the great classic, Raising Arizona, ‘H.I., you’re young and you got your health, what you want with a job?’”

I was stunned. Did she even realize what she just said to me?

It was beginning to sink in that maybe this woman wasn’t trying to play me. That she wasn’t some horny virgin with a need to not be so virginal, but that maybe she was aweso
me.

Morgana was a flower. A beautiful red rose just waiting to be picked.

For that moment, I considered leaving with her and not turning back. Fuck this, they would fire me anyway. Why not deflower the woman who stumbled face first into my heart?

I grabbed her hand, enjoying the warmth from her entwined fingers. “I’ll come with you. We can talk to her together.”

She raised her eyes to mine and I fell, deep. Who knew it took me being fired for sexual misconduct to be woken from my lonely dream. I wanted to kiss her.

I wanted to take her home and into my bed and never come out.

  Her hands halted my progress.

“Mr. Payne, the only way we can even hope to keep our jobs is by talking to Ms. Bechmann and not making out.”

Morgana was right. The kiss could wait. It was time for us to go into the harpy’s den and save Morgana’s job. It took a reference to the best movie ever made to make me realize what was best for my heart. And it wasn’t a job.

Once we walked into Bechmann’s office, we found the woman bent behind her desk.

“I can see you, Bechmann. There’s no point in hiding,” I pointed out. She stood trying to smooth out the wrinkles of her unflattering blue blazer and dignity.

She made her way to the door refusing to look at us. “I’ll just shut the door then.”

Once we were all seated the silence commenced.

I glanced over at Morgana who appeared about as comfortable as someone with hemorrhoids whose boyfriend wanted to experiment with anal sex. Bechmann didn’t appear to be in any better shape.

“Bechmann, I would just like to say it was—”

She lifted her hands to stop me. “No. Don’t try to tell me it wasn’t what it looked like because that’s a load of bull and you know it. It was very much what it looked like, Payne. You had your hand down her shirt and your tongue on her neck. Was she choking and that’s some new maneuver I don’t know about?”

The last thing I wanted to do was speak to Bechmann. While loosening the tension in my jaw I reminded myself I was here for Morgana.

“Fine. It was what you saw. It was completely my fault. I took advantage of my position so if you are going to fire anyone, fire me.”

Bechmann’s grin was so large I think the Chicago Bears could play their Sunday game there. I bet her breath smelled like sweaty, hairy ball players.

Morgana was not smiling. In fact, she was frowning. There was pity in her eyes that I could only assume was the realization I would be fired. I didn’t know how she would react, but I did fantasize that she would be so grateful after that she, again, would drool for my cock.

I had a thing for cock drooling.

She appeared in pain as she turned to face Bechmann. “Mr. Payne didn’t force me to do anything. You knew I wanted his job for a long time. I knew you would walk in looking for me, Evaleen. I used my physical power of persuasion to get him in that situation. It’s my fault. If you are going to fire anyone, ffff . . . ffff . . . fire me.”

  What?

She knew Bechmann would come in? My mind was racing trying to come up with reasons this couldn’t have been true.

But then the masturbation threat popped up in my head. Maybe that was a backup plan in case I never tried anything with her before Bechmann showed up.

For all I knew, Morgana had been waiting in the men’s restroom many times to catch me doing something.

  That’s low and disgusting.

I was just overreacting. None of that was true. Was it?

I turned to find something on her face, a wink or nod or grimace, but she wouldn’t look at me. But there was nothing but the cold emptiness in my gut as my eyes pleaded for her to turn and face me.

  She was too scared.

  She was a coward.

  I was an idiot.

My anger turned my knuckles into fire from the force used to curl my fingers into the chair.

“Well, um, okay. If that is true, Drake, then I need a minute alone with Payne, and then I will see you. Just wait outside for a moment.”

  Morgana left.

She got up, turned from me, and walked out the door as if I didn’t exist.

“I don’t believe her. But the funny thing is, and trust me when I say I really don’t want to admit this, I don’t believe you either.” Bechmann motioned toward the door that Morgana just closed behind her.

“But what she said was true. She knew you were coming to look for her.” My words pleaded with her to deny them. I slowly turned my head back to Bechmann and watched her reaction. She frowned.

Bechmann didn’t deny anything. It was true. She knew I was right.

“Yes, Drake knew I would come look for her to get lunch. We discussed it over an hour ago. But I didn’t think—”

“This is not for you to think about, Bechmann. This is your fucking job. You hire and you fire. So do it.”

Bechmann tensed before closing her eyes. I thought she was going to chew me up and spit me out. That she would fire someone today, and it wouldn’t be her new friend. At this point I didn’t care. I wanted out of all this. Away from her, from Morgana, and the mess of my life.

When her eyes fluttered open, they were steel. She swallowed with uncertainty for a second before her attention darted to the door. I realized she would do something today she didn’t want to do.

For that, I respected her a little bit more, and for once I had sympathy for what she would undertake.

I stood and nodded. “Bechmann, I will only say this once; you are good at your job.”

I meant it. She was a dedicated and strong worker. Though I meant it to be kind, she didn’t take it that way.

As she rose her lip curled into a snarl. “Payne, I have put up with your crap for years. You are well aware of my distaste for your existence. Yet when you hired Morgana Drake I thought for the first time you did something right. And don’t think I wasn’t aware of you two making googly eyes at each other but I ignored it.”

After a deep breath she continued, “Now you ruined it. You took the one good thing that you had here and threw it away. Thank you, Payne, for proving me right.”

My mouth fell open. Normally I would answer her with an equally scathing comment, but her words dug a little deeper this time. I felt them burrowing into my chest and it stung.

  “Right about what?”

Bechmann stopped just before opening the door. “About you dying one day very much alone at your desk. Good day, Payne. I hope you are warm enough in your office all alone.”

I left. Making my way back to my office was an anger filled blur.

It wasn’t until I closed the door to my office and sank into my seat that something terrible happened. My heart began to crack as her scent lingered around me.

  ELEVEN

  Morgana’s Problem

  Bars

“I will always remember our brief time together, my lady.” The drunk man at the bar tried to bow but stumbled in the process.

It had been a few days since I left Mimir in disgrace. Even Evaleen gave me her pity smile as I left her office. Henrik, on the other hand, had a few choice words for me before he stormed off to his office.

I don’t blame him. He thinks I did all of that on purpose to get him fired. But I didn’t.

We were both going to be fired, I might as well have saved one job, right? It’s not like Henrik has feelings for me anyway. Sure, he wanted to have sex with me, but I knew I wouldn’t be able to handle that scenario long while working with him, before feelings entered the picture for me.

I sacrificed myself to save my heart and make sure they didn’t get rid of one of their best employees, Henrik Payne.

“I hope he didn’t bother you, miss. Trainer is a regular. Though he can get quite inebriated he is rather harmless.” A deep voice came from beside me so I turned.

What I found caused my mouth to hang open. There stood a man with thick, wavy brown hair and a neatly trimmed beard. He was tall, but slim, not skinny,
more like he had a runner’s body.

I realized it was Aria’s boss, Jackson. She had invited me to visit her at work at the club where she bartended. Aria had hinted I should have a one-night stand with her boss. Her solution to everything is a one-night stand.

When she showed me his picture a part of me agreed. Well, vagina agreed.

“Seeing Jackson in person, Morgana, I now agree one hundred and ten percent that you should have sex with this guy,” Vagina added.

I ignored her. She had gotten me in enough trouble so far.

  “I’m . . .uh . . . I’m fine. Thank you,” I said while blushing.

“This is Morgana, Jackson, my roommate. Remember I said she would be stopping by tonight,” Aria said as she came over to stand in front of me from behind the bar.

He barely noticed Aria. Jackson hadn’t taken his dark eyes off me. I shivered but the more he stared the more uncomfortable I became. There was the sexy stare, that lasted a beat or two too long. And then there was the creepy stare that never seemed to end.

Jackson’s gaze fell somewhere in the middle. Maybe it was my imagination and the fact that I may be bias. Having had a bad time of it lately with men, I may be seeing something that just isn’t there.

“Oh, Morgana, right. Well, it is lovely to meet you, Morgana. Please, anything you want is on the house. In fact, we have private VIP booths on the second floor, why don’t I escort you to one.” Jackson’s smile took over his face and I wondered how many panties had melted in its presence.

I was still raw from being let go from Mimir and the events that led up to that. I only wanted to sit here, have a few drinks, and talk with Aria. Being alone was the last thing I needed right now.

“I came alone. Really only to see Aria, so I would feel weird being in a booth all by myself,” I said.

“You won’t be alone. You will be with me. Now come, I insist.”

Before I could protest Jackson pulled me out of my chair and toward some stairs in the back. The club was dark with bright colorful lights swirling from above over the dance floor in the middle of the room.
