She immediately climbs back onto her feet. Kaew remains hidden as she tries to take aim at the killer but with the both of them interchanging positions so swiftly like inter mingled dancers, Kaew can hardly shoot Chin without putting Yuna at risk.
Yuna and Chin exchanges a series of punches and kicks but Yuna is on the loosing edge as she is physically smaller and weaker than the heavy weight boxer she is facing. Also, being injured during the accident, Yuna can only exert so much force with her attacks. Chin on the other hand is fresh and fully charged for this energy draining fight. All Yuna can do is try to stall him and lead him to a position where Kaew can get a clear shot but whether her plan can come through is another story.
Yuna blocks Chin's punches with her arms over her face as she backs off from his attack. Taking his continuous heavy blows and backing off, she leads the killer to have his back facing Kaew. This is her chance. Kaew aims the gun at Chin and fires a shot. Hearing the shot, Chin instinctively ducks, covering his head with his arms. The bullet misses him and hits a pillar far off from where they stand.
Chin immediately turns his glare to the direction of the fired shot and sees Kaew. Yuna sends a kick at his face but Chin manages to parry her foot off and draws his gun. Kaew aims at him and fires another shot. Chin dodges by rolling off onto the dust-laden floor as he fires a shot back at Kaew. Kaew jumps off in time and lands on her stomach onto the floor, but alas, she drops her gun and it glides towards the unfinished wall. She can only watch as the gun glides out the opening and drops three floors down onto the ground below.
Seeing Kaew in a compromised position, Yuna jumps onto Chin's back and clamps her legs around his waist as she locks her arms around his neck trying to strangle him. Chin pushes himself back hard against the wall. Yuna groans in pain and with her left hand still around his neck she reaches her right hand back to remove a black, foldable steel karambit from her back pocket. She flips the blade out wedges the sharp edge of the blade into the killer's chest and Chin lets out a cry of pain. It is a deep cut but Yuna didn't cut deep enough to make it fatal. Chin backs up hard into the edge of a pillar, crashing Yuna's back right into the hard cement edge. Yuna screams in pain and lets go of Chin immediately, dropping onto the floor at once. Kaew rushes over to Yuna, horrified.
Chin turns back and aims his gun at Yuna. Yuna closes her eyes to anticipate death and just as his finger is about to pull the trigger, Chin suddenly flinches and his gun drops from his hand.
The large man keels over onto the floor before falling flat on his face. There is an arrow in his back! Hearing the man fall, Yuna opens her eyes and is equally shocked to see the killer dead with an arrow sticking out from his back. From afar, two shadows are walking towards them.
The duo walk over to the women and when they are close enough, they can see that it is a man and a woman. They're both Asians but definitely not Chinese.
"We need that briefcase," the woman with a bow in her hand and a quiver of arrows on her back instructs. The man quickly takes the silver briefcase off the ground.
"Who are yu?" Kaew asks as Yuna recovers.
"Are you going to kill us?" Yuna adds onto Kaew's question.
"We won't kill you. We just want what's inside this briefcase," the man answers.
"We won't let -" Yuna is saying when a sudden bang echoes through the empty hall and the man lets out a cry as he drops the briefcase onto the floor. The bullet grazed pass his shoulder. Nothing lethal.
The woman immediately takes an arrow from her quiver and puts it to her bow. She releases the arrow and it shoots into the side of Chin's head.
The woman then rushes over to her accomplice's side and checks on him, "Are you okay?"
The man nods an okay as he holds onto his shoulder.
Kaew sees her chance immediately claws the briefcase into her arms, grabs the gun from Chin's hand and aims it at the duo.
"Why yu want bag? Wat is inside?" Kaew demands.
"We are here for the same reasons your are here," the woman answers, her face hard with vengeance.
"What do you mean?" Yuna asks.
"Lee Yu Na. Kaew Saowaluk," the woman says and the women are startled that they know their identities.
"Inside this briefcase is a virus. A new recombinant form of the swine flu. We need to destroy it in order to foil the final step to the Main Action Plan," the woman explains, standing next to the injured man.
"A virus?" Yuna gasps.
"Yes. H-7842. Not entirely deadly like the Ebola but adequate to do enough damage to a country's economy," the woman continues to explain.
"Who are yu? How yu noe so much?" Kaew asks.
"My name is Ada. He is Zero. We used to be part of them but we're now fighting against them," Ada tells.
"Then we are frens," Kaew smiles and puts the gun down.
"Allies," Ada corrects her. There are no friends in her world.
"How do we destroy the virus?" Yuna asks, getting back up onto her feet with the help of Kaew.
"Fire. We burn it," Ada tells.
"Hir?" Kaew asks, looking around them.
"In the open," Ada answers.
"The roof?" Zero suggests, already forgetting his pain.
"Let's go," Ada agrees and they set off towards the roof.
Once on the flat cement roof, Ada puts the briefcase lying onto the cement floor and keys in the password to the digital lock. The buckles snap open immediately and a glass vial glistens under the silver moonlight from inside its dense black sponge housing. The vial, approximately the size of a whiteboard marker is sealed with large round metal closures on both ends.
Zero removes a small bottle of lighter fluid from his pocket and douses it all onto the opened briefcase. Zero then proceeds to remove a Zippo lighter from his other pocket and with the flame burning, he throws it onto the vial. The briefcase catches fire immediately and turns into a mini bonfire.
Watching the vial burn and crack, Kaew asks, "Yu sure this can wok?"
"Yes. The virus is heat sensitive," Ada answers staring into the fire.
"What do we do now? Is it over?" Yuna asks as the glass crackles under the flame.
"No. This is just the beginning. Now that we've started war, they will kill us at all costs. The only way to survive is to take down the Hives one by one," Ada looks up at Yuna with a stern look in her stare.
"Whatever it is, we're in," Yuna states their stand firmly, staring boldly into Ada's unforgiving gaze.
Before the night sky and the bonfire, a new team of allies forms.
Chapter 51
India: Friday, 28th November 10:38am
"You failed terribly," the woman Architin snaps.
"The virus is destroyed and now the elections will carry on as scheduled. We just voided a contract with our client," the Caucasian Architin adds.
"The opposition will win," the African Architin grunts.
"Hive 03 is disgraced by your failure," the woman Architin's continues.
"The market will turn bullish and our estimated loss of potential profits are USD 3.6 billion in stocks and currency exchange alone. This drastically impacts our global performance," the Caucasian Architin snorts as he hammers his fists onto the white table of the meeting room.
"Just give me another chance," Goda requests.
"Do you think we will still trust you after such a devastating mistake on your behalf?" the African Architin bites his teeth asking.
"One chance to finish off everything is all I ask for. If I fail, I die trying," Goda continues to request.
The Architins look at each other for a second. Maybe this is a chance for Hive 03 to redeem itself and proof its worth among the rest of the Hives.
"One chance," the African Architin announces to Goda.
"Thank you," Goda bows.
