There was no doubt about it. The man was her father. He came closer to the window, met Faye’s gaze, and held the photo of her mother and Julienne against the glass.

  Then he was gone again.

  ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

When you write a novel, there are a lot of people to thank. I’d like to start by explaining who Karin—to whom this book is dedicated—is. Karin Linge Nordh has been my publisher ever since my second book. I wouldn’t be the author I am today without Karin and her knowledge, wisdom, and passion for literature. Since my last book came out, Karin has moved on to new pastures, but what she taught me will always remain a part of my work. And I have the benefit of getting to keep Karin in my life as a close friend. Massive, heartfelt, sincere THANKS to you, Karin!

During the genesis of this book, I’ve had the privilege of working with John Häggblom and Ebba Östberg. I can’t praise them enough, and this book wouldn’t be the same without their affectionate touch. They are stars in the publishing sky and I am eternally grateful to have the opportunity to work with them. I’d also like to thank my editor Kerstin Ödeen and everyone else at my publisher Forum/Ester Bonnier. There are so many of you who do a fantastic job—no names, but none of you are forgotten. You know who you are…

A very important person to my work on both this book and the previous novel about Faye is my friend and great colleague Pascal Engman. He has contributed both brilliance and dedication to brainstorming ideas, and I’m incredibly grateful that he was willing to give me his time. Thank you, Pascal!

I also have a supremely competent team behind me that I worked with day in, day out ahead of the launch of Silver Tears in Sweden: Christina Saliba, Joakim Hansson, and Anna Frankl, as well as the rest of the team at Nordin Agency, in addition to Lina Hellqvist and Julia Aspnäs.

Facts are incredibly important when a book comes into existence. Emmanuel Ergul has been a tremendous source of information for the financial parts of this book, in addition to Martin Junghem and Sara Börsvik.

In my personal life, there are so many people to thank. Without my family, I wouldn’t get a single sentence written. My husband, Simon, whom I love above all else, and my wonderful, amazing children, Wille, Meja, Charlie, and Polly; my mom, Gunnel Läckberg, and my parents-in-law, Anette and Christer Sköld. Thank you for being you and for being my safety net.

And, as ever: thank you, Dad, for giving me a love of books.
