Breaking the silence, I glance at Stefan, who holds Ren in his arms. I offer them both a half-smile before I pull Tania close to me and kiss her head of red curls. “Elle.”
One word. It is all that needs spoken. We know. She remains with us. She is an angel watching over us, and the one who helped to bring us all together, proving her love is a constant beacon of light for all of us.
With a whisper, I say, “Merry Christmas, li’l sis. I miss you so much and love you even more. Thank you for reminding me life is worth living, and for helping me see and believe in miracles. Life with love is infinity (x) 3. You are my hero. Thank you for releasing me. Fly free.”
We stand silent for a short while longer, lingering in the here and now, before we turn to leave.
Departing from Elle is never easy, but this time, I leave her knowing she has gifted me a moment in life I will forever treasure.
I weave my fingers through Tania’s, my other gift I will treasure always, and walk into my future with more love in my heart and hope in my step.
I proceed, knowing I am able to live in the moment, be present, live, and love.
Without fear.
