“Will, please don’t get angry.”
“Angry? I’m not angry, I’m beyond angry, I’m fucking furious. Where the fucking hell is he? I’m gonna fucking kill him. He’s supposed to be my best friend and he kisses you?” I yell. I start to pull on my sweat pants.
She quickly rushes over and puts on her dressing gown. “Will, please, it’s not that bad. It only lasted for a second! It was nothing and it meant absolutely nothing to me.”
“Nothing? It meant nothing to you? How would you like it if Charlie kissed me?” I ask her more forcefully than I intended and she winces away from me. “Oh, I’m sorry, I’m not angry with you.”
She starts to cry again as I pull her close and hold her to my chest. “I’m sorry, baby. You’re supposed to be mine and I don’t want to share you with anyone. Every kiss is meant for me and me alone, just like all of mine are only for you. Stay here. I’ll be right back.” I let her go and walk toward the door.
She tries to grab my arm but I pull away from her.
“Please don’t,” she pleads.
“This won’t take long,” I command and walk through the door, down the hall to his room. I pound on the door as Kat runs up pleading with me to stop. But I can’t, I’m in such a rage.
How dare he kiss what’s mine? How dare he fucking touch her?
“What the fuck?” Mark blurts out as he opens the door.
“Are you guys okay?”
Kat is crying and I see Patty open her door and she comes across.
“What’s all this racket?” she asks as Olsen walks toward the door.
“You!” I call out and point my finger toward him. He looks at Kat’s tear soaked face and instantly his face takes on a guilty look. I push through the door, shoving Mark out of the way and make my way toward Olsen, the fucking scumbag. Kat is crying heavily and pulling on my arm as I barge forward with only one thing in mind which is my fist in his face. My fists clench and I bring my right arm up to hit him.
“Baby, I beg you please don’t hit him. I don’t want to spend my first night as your fiancé away from you because you’re in a jail cell,” she calls out, tugging on my arm, halting me in my tracks, just before I reach Olsen’s lying, two-timing, backstabbing, ugly fucking face. Olsen flinches as he looks between me, Patty and Mark, who are standing back watching in disbelief.
“You think you can kiss my fiancé and get away with it? You’re lucky she is here otherwise you’d be in a coma right about now,” I spit out and push him hard. He falls to the ground, hitting a chair on his way down.
“Your fiancé?” His face crinkles and falls.
“Yes, my fiancé, and you’re so fucking fired! If you touch her again, I swear to God– ”
“He won’t. Will you Olsen?” Kat interjects as she cradles herself into my chest and I wrap my arms around her.
Olsen shakes his head from side to side.
“You’d better be gone by tomorrow. I don’t want to see your ugly fucking face anywhere near me or what’s mine. Do you fucking understand me, you low life asshole?” Olsen nods his head. “Mark, you’re looking after both of us, but Kat is your major responsibility. I’ll double your pay until I can find a suitable replacement. Do you understand?”
Mark nods his head.
“C’mon darlings, you’ve both had a big night. Let’s go to my room and we can sort this out,” Patty says as she takes my arm and leads me back to her room.
“Okay, so there are a number of things I need to go through with you. Fiancé? When did that happen? Before or after the screaming orgasms that were happening in your room?” Patty asks making me laugh as I wipe the residual tears from Kat’s face.
“Umm, during,” I say quietly while I look at Kat in the eyes. “I love you baby,” I whisper to her.
“Okay, so first of all, let me say congratulations to you both and second let me say thank you to Kat for calming you down, Will. I can honestly say that it would’ve been ridiculously hard to try and get you out of jail for punching out Olsen. So thank you, Kat, and, thank you Will, for restraining yourself and not punching the douche bag even though he thoroughly deserved it,” she says. “On another note, if pictures surface of the kiss, how do you want me to spin it?”
I feel my blood start to boil all over again. He’s so fucking dead to me.
“Tell the truth. The scumbag tried to kiss her, she slapped him and then we fired his ass,” I spit out.
“Do you want news of your engagement to go out to the stratosphere tomorrow?”
I look at Kat, who’s stopped crying and is now smiling as I hold her in my arms. She nods at me, making all the anger and hurt dissipate.
“Yes, we want everyone to know, but can you wait until my parents know first?” Kat asks.
“Of course, darlings,” she says and I kiss Kat’s head.
All of a sudden, I feel elated because I remember I’m engaged to the greatest woman on the planet, and I really just want to take her back to our room and make love to her again.
“If you will excuse us Patty, I have someone I need to attend to.”
I bend down, pick Kat up and throw her over my shoulder. She squeals and Patty laughs as she opens the door for me.
“Have fun you two, but don’t make too much noise. Some of us have to sleep,” she calls out as I carry Kat back to our room.
I take my fiancé to our bed and I lay her down softly onto our mattress.
“I am really sorry, Will,” she says ever so softly as she undoes her robe revealing her glorious naked body underneath.
“Let’s not think about that anymore tonight baby. Now is about you and me and how many times I can make you scream my name loud enough for Patty to hear,” I say with a smirk. I pull my sweat pants down to free my always hard cock. I crawl onto the bed and on top of her and kiss her lips tenderly.
Chapter Twenty
We spend the next few days doing various interviews and guest appearances, and any downtime we have, we spend together or with Johno and Auds. We informed them the next morning that we are engaged and when Auds asked how I proposed, both Kat and I went silent.
“Umm, we were in the bath,” Kat says leaving out the part that I was balls deep inside her at the time.
I guess we need to make up a story we can actually use for the press. Even though we haven’t released the information officially yet, rumors are rife as the paparazzi have photographed Kat wearing her engagement ring. Kat’s parents are absolutely thrilled for us and they can’t wait to help us arrange a wedding.
The photos of Kat and Olsen kissing surfaced and were plastered all over every magazine and newspaper. One of the headlines reads, ‘Kat has cheated, instigating a proposal as an act of desperation by Will to keep her’, so you can imagine what the others were like. Those magazines sure do write a load of crap to bring in the readers. Patty was able to squash the hype quickly causing apologies and retractions to be written all over the place. Of course, people believe what they want, but at least the truth was out there if the fans want to read it.
The movie premiere pulled in one hundred and eleven point two million dollars over a three day period, slightly under the weekend release for the States, but still pretty damn awesome.
We say our farewells to her parents and tell them we’ll see them soon. Auds is crying into Johno’s shoulder as we walk away through the terminal with Patty and Mark. I really feel for them. I know how much it would hurt me if I was separated from Kat.
I have no idea when or how Olsen left, but I haven’t seen him since that night.
Good riddance to a steaming pile of worthless shit.
I don’t know how I ever called him a friend, or a best friend at that.
We sit down in our seats on the plane to start our journey home.
“We need to buy a house,” she states, coming from nowhere.
I smile and wink. “I agree. We’ll look as soon as we get back, but in the meantime, can we stay at your bungalow? I don’t want to share or be i
n the same house with him.”
“Of course. Have you been able to catch up with Charlie? She won’t answer any of my calls?” Kat asks with dull eyes and a trembling chin.
“No, I haven’t tried, but I’m sure we’ll see her as soon as we get back and we can explain things to her. She’ll understand baby,” I reassure, wrapping my arm around her and pulling her close.
~ KAT ~
I wake up as the plane docks into the terminal at LAX. We left Sydney, Australia, on Friday at ten in the morning and we’ve arrived in Los Angeles on the previous Thursday at five in the afternoon… go figure. We have the next few of days off so we are going to go house hunting as soon as we’ve slept off the jet lag.
We disembark and are ushered through to baggage claim quickly because of a barrage of screaming fans and paparazzi. Will holds my hand as Mark walks in front of us, ushering people out of the way.
“Is it true? You’re engaged?”
“You’re holding hands. Are you back together after your horror trip ‘Down Under’?”
“Miss Barrett. Are you in love with Edmund Olsen?”
What? No way! I can barely tolerate the guy, let alone be in love with him.
I feel Will’s hand tighten around mine and his body stiffens. I can only imagine what’s going through his mind after that little doozy of a question. I decide I should answer the question to try and quell some of those rumors.
“No, I’m very much in love with Will, thank you very much,” I answer in a sarcastic tone.
Patty places her arm on my shoulder and I know straight away that she doesn’t want me to say anything else. Will looks at me and smiles as he continues to hold my hand and pulls me through the crowd. His hand is sweaty and I note that he’s anxious. He waves to one of his fans and mumbles something about Kira.
We gather our luggage and make our way to an awaiting chauffeured car. Will waits for me to slide in first and then he follows, while Mark and Patty move into the front of the car.
I think next time we do this we might need to have helpers to pick up our luggage and perhaps additional security around us. It’s becoming very difficult to be just two people walking through an airport.
We drop our luggage off at the bungalow and say hi to Brooke, Dan and V before we head to Will’s mom’s house to tell her the good news. Unfortunately, she’ll probably already know as news travels fast, but we owe her the courtesy of telling her face to face. We arrive in Will’s car and try to evade some of the paparazzi that have followed us since we arrived back in the States. We get out and rush to the front door and knock quickly. She opens the door and we walk inside trying to evade the paparazzi snapping yet another shot of us.
Liz hugs Will tightly and then she moves to me.
“I missed you guys. I know it’s only been a week, but I really did miss you.”
“We missed you too, Mom. I managed to bring you back some things. Wanna see?”
We sit down on the sofa while Will pulls random trinkets from the bag he’s holding.
“Okay, so this is called a boomerang. You throw it and it comes back to you. It’s kinda cool, and of course it is painted in a traditional Aboriginal design. We also got you a stuffed Koala. We didn’t get time to see the real deal, so this will have to do. I’d love to take you there one day, I most certainly want to see more of that beautiful country. Oh, and most importantly, we bought you a jar of Vegemite.”
“I saw that clip of you on YouTube eating this stuff on that morning show. It didn’t look that good, but I have to admit it was hilarious watching you trying to eat it.”
“Thanks, Mom,” Will exclaims. “Tell you what, I’ll make you some Vegemite on toast for dinner, seeing as you enjoyed my reaction so much. I can’t wait to watch you eat it,” he says with a laugh. We spend the evening with Liz and she spots the ring on my finger and almost squeezes me to death in a hug. She already knew about the engagement, which is a shame, because we would’ve liked to have told her in person, but that’s the way it goes. When it’s time to leave Liz’s house, we walk outside and notice a few fans, but there are paparazzi scattered all across her front lawn.
“Sorry, Mom,” Will apologizes.
“Oh honey, it’s fine as long as they don’t damage Bruce. You know how much I love him,” Liz says.
I frown and look at Will for an answer to the unanswered question hanging in the air.
“Bruce is Mom’s Sycamore tree. She planted him when I was born.”
Ah, now I’m enlightened. Gotta love Liz and her kooky ways. Even I think naming a tree is a tad odd.
Will holds my hand as we walk along the driveway toward the car. We stop to wave at our fans and we pose for a few photos to keep the paparazzi happy.
“Hi, Kira,” Will calls out and I finally see the woman he’s been talking about, standing alone at the back of the crowd.
“Hi Will,” she calls out and waves to us while the other girls turn to look at her with wide eyes and shocked faces. I smile at Will as he opens my car door. He’s so nice to his fans even though they scare him, which I know by looking at him that even this small crowd has him nervous. I slide in, he shuts the door and walks around to his side and opens his door.
“Will, marry me?” a girl calls out as he hops in the car.
“Sorry sweetheart, I’m well and truly taken,” he informs the fans and then he takes my hand and kisses it sending a shiver up my spine and awakening the tiny bud of nerves between my legs.
“Awww,” they cry out.
“Doesn’t mean he doesn’t still love you all though,” I holler through the passenger side window. They all giggle, smile, wave and start screaming. Will looks over at me and shakes his head.
“You’re a stirrer,” he states, while he shuts his door and winds down his window.
“I do love you all, especially Kira at the back there. She’s a lovely woman and you should all be friends with her,” he advises while looking over at Kira, who has the biggest smile beaming across her face.
Wow, that worked. All the girls are rushing over to her like she’s a magnet and has the inside goss.
“That was nice of you babe. She seems like a bit of a loner. I’m sure that’ll help her make some friends.”
“She seems like a sweet woman and she’s always around, but not pushy like the others. She waits in the back quietly for her turn. She’s how I wish all my fans would act. She doesn’t make me uptight and concerned when I’m around her.”
He puts the car into reverse and as we drive off down the street, we see camera flashes over and over again.
I really wonder what good a photo of the back of our heads is to them?
We make our way back to the bungalow to turn in for the night. Charlie is staying with Olsen - God knows why? I’m sure she must’ve seen the photos of him kissing me in Sydney.
So it seems, we’ll not have to be concerned with Olsen tonight, which is nice, but it’ll be hard sharing a single bed. We walk inside and Brooke and Dan are running around chasing after each other with Brook squealing, V is sitting at the kitchen table with her earphones in playing on her laptop. We laugh and enter the living room. Will sits on the sofa and I sit on his lap so there’s enough room for Brooke and Dan when they finish having fun.
Will nuzzles into my hair as I keep watching Brooke and Dan. I’m not even sure if they realize we’re even here. Eventually Brooke runs in and slumps onto the sofa next to us.
“You win,” she calls out breathlessly.
“Woo hoo,” Dan calls back as he runs in and slumps on the sofa next to her leaning back to catch his breath, then he jolts forward and kissing her on the cheek.
“Well, aren’t you two energetic tonight?” Will asks, moving his fist to pump with Dan’s.
“Not really, I’m so unfit,” Brooke admits. She puts her glasses back on and then leans into Dan’s shoulder.
“So what’s the deal with Olsen? He’s saying Kat came on to him and that he didn’t want her advances. So he q
uit being your security guard and came home,” Brooke says, making me sit up a little straighter on Will’s lap.
“He fucking what?” Will shouts.
“Don’t worry! We don’t believe him, but Charlie does and she’s really upset with you Kat. So much so, she never wants to see you again,” Dan says.
“So, that’s why she hasn’t been answering my calls?” I mutter under my breath.
“I can’t believe him – he makes a pass at my girl… no he actually touches my girl… no he actually kisses my fiancé, and then turns it around like that? Who’s he saying this too exactly?” Will questions.
“Um everyone and anyone who’ll listen,” Brooke states, “but don’t worry though, everyone knows what Olsen is like. No-one believes him anyway. We certainly don’t. It was obvious in the photos that he was kissing Kat. You can see by the look on her face that she was shocked and appalled.”
“Thanks Brooke. He tried it, and then I slapped him. When I told Will, it was a little scary there for a moment, but Will rained in his temper. We fired Olsen and haven’t seen him since.” Will leans in and kisses my cheek. “Anyway, I’m over him and his antics. Have a look at this guys.” I hold out my left hand and show off my engagement ring.
“Oh my God, that’s gorgeous. We knew that it was a possibility due to all the media coverage, but when did this happen and why didn’t you call us immediately?” Brooke asks as she grabs my hand pulling it to her for a look at the exquisite rock on my finger.
“Wow! Congrats dude,” Dan says, as he pats Will on the back and nods at him.
“You knew,” I blurt out, pointing at Dan. “You knew he was going to propose, didn’t you?” I accuse and Dan just sits there smiling.
“I may have been forewarned,” he says and I push his shoulder.
“What? Would you really have wanted me to tell you and ruin the surprise?”
“No. It’s just everyone seemed to know, except for me.”
My friends will never cease to amaze me. I just wish Charlie was here to celebrate with us. I miss her so much.
We spend the rest of the night with Dan and Brooke. I try to remove the idea that Charlie actually hates me from my mind. I need my best friend and I hope we can somehow salvage the friendship, we once had.
