Deacon dropped to one knee, slumped to the pavement, and looked back at his mother. Grace clasped her side. Her face was pale and her breathing heavy. Doc staggered to his feet. He pressed tightly against the blood flow from the bullet wound in his shoulder.

  Deacon looked again at the surface of the Mississippi. A sharp, unexpected pain sliced through his body. He cried out and clasped his uninjured right side.

  At last, James David, Deacon, Jones remembered all of the things he had never known, and he understood them all. It was all important. He had needed to know; he had needed to understand. He realized, even though she was his twin, his missing half, she was different. His sister was not like Deacon at all. She was an anomaly with a burdened, black essence, a Dark Star. He had been right since the beginning.

  Unquestionably, she was his cure.

  ABOUT THE AUTHOR

  Paul Alexander was born and raised in Missouri where he still makes his home. Although he proudly considers himself a native Ozarkian, for many years he lived and worked in Mexico City, Mexico. He is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, bi-lingual in English and Spanish, an instrument rated pilot, lifelong motorcyclist, mechanic, welder, woodworker, outdoorsman, and inventor.

  He is passionate about the preservation of his family’s history. Among his family’s prized possessions he has restored and preserved his Grandfather’s 1921 Keck-Gonnerman Steam Traction Engine and his father’s 1940 Harley-Davidson Knucklehead.

  Dark Star is his second completed novel and the first to be published. Its sequel, with the working title Deacon’s Ride, is currently under development. In addition, he is in the process of rewriting his first novel, Elizabeth’s Secrets. In the concept and outline phase is a business practices book entitled TEL ME, a text that thoroughly explains The TEL Solution, a business development process that he created.

  Mr. Alexander is the author of countless whitepapers, business principles, manuals, and an innovator of numerous cutting edge sales and marketing strategies, branding initiatives and incentive programs all built upon the principles of behavioral science.
