“Yes, he slept through it.”
Again he thanked God that his son was a sound sleeper. “She sent those mother fuckers to my home to hurt the woman I love.” He couldn’t face her, until he calmed down. He took a deep breath, “What if I wasn’t home, Larissa?”
“But you were,” she lay her head on his back, circling her hands around his waist.
“What if I wasn’t?” His voice rattled, and he cleared his throat. Emotions weren’t his thing.
“Shane,” she raised her voice. “I don’t want to talk about those fools right now.” Larissa moved back, “I’ve been a very bad girl.”
He gave her half a smile; she was trying to lift his mood. He twisted around as she was untying the straps to the robe, letting it slip off her naked body to the floor. Shane swallowed, ogling his beauty; the only thing that mattered was Larissa. All his anger vanished in that moment. Her nipples were hardened under his gaze, “I need to be punished.” She bit her index finger.
“Do you?”
“Yes… I do.”
Shane took a few strides forward, circled his arms around her ass, and picked Larissa up. He started kissing her passionately. Their tongues played a game of tug of war. Shane sucked on her bottom lip, making her moan his name.
“Shane…” She wrapped her legs around his waist, humping on his growing bulge. “Stop playing with me, and give me what I want.” She sucked on the sensitive skin right under his earlobe, He was hard as a rock by now.
He walked her over to the entryway, and gently slammed her against the door. Shane held her between him and the barrier, and rapidly pulled down his shorts. He touched her clit with his fingertip, “Mmmm… Daddy doesn’t play.” Larissa was wet, waiting for him to take what was his. He thrust up, and she took his cock inch by inch. “Fuck!” he slammed his hand on the door.
“Oh God!” Larissa wrapped her hands behind his neck, following his rhythm. When he plunged up, she thrust down. “Yes… yes… yes!” she groaned, her nails digging into his shoulder.
Shane tapped her ass with his palm. “Is this what you want, bad girl?”
“Yes!”
He smacked her again. Larissa was a lady in the street, but a freak with him. She didn’t hold back, she voiced what she liked, and what she didn’t. He learned every inch of her body.
“Shane!” she chattered, “Shane… yes… right there…” Her grip around his neck got tighter. Larissa rose up and back down again, rotating her hips. Shane wasn’t going be able to last long with the moves she was breaking out.
“Babe…”
Larissa was so lost in ecstasy that she didn’t hear him, her eyes were closed, mouth slightly opened.
“Open your eyes,” Shane leaned his head closer, controlling her movements with his hands on her hips, moving her up on down on his rod. “I want to see you cum.”
Larissa’s eyes fluttered open. “I… love… you…”
Her muscles gripped his rod, pulsating. Larissa was about to cum, her moaning got louder, and her toes curled on his ass. “I’m….” she hugged him tight, biting his collarbone.
The contracting sensation made him lose control, moving faster. Larissa continued rolling her hips, taking him in. “No one…” he said between gritted teeth. “Will… ever… hurt you!” He came so hard, that he lost his footing and they fell on the floor, laughing, out of breath. Shane grabbed the robe on the floor next to them, and covered her.
Her chest heaved up and down as she tried to breath normally.
“Do you think they heard us?” Shane pulled her closer, and started singing ‘Neighbors Know My Name,’ by Trey Songz. He chuckled, not fucking caring if they did or not. She didn’t answer. He kissed the side of her face. Her cheek was moist. He turned his head, watching her. “Babe,” he leaned up on his elbow, Larissa’s eyes flooded with tears. “Did I hurt you?” He gazed at her concerned.
She shook her head, wiping her eyes.
“What’s wrong?” He took her hand in his. “Tell me.”
“I think it’s best if we call it quits,” Larissa whispered, looking away.
He sat up, watching her. “What did you just say?”
“I don’t want to come between you and your son. Liza will leave you alone once I’m out of the picture.” She gazed at him. “I don’t want you to resent me years from now,” Larissa continued wiping at her tears. “Shane, I’m doing this for you.”
“Are you fucking serious?” he glanced down at her. “Did I fuck you senseless, because you must have lost your damn mind?”
Shane glared at Larissa without saying another word. She couldn’t be serious. Larissa must have bumped her head on the door. Just when he thought his night was getting better she goes and crushes it. He calmly stood, walked over to the entryway and picked up his shorts. He continued to stare at her as he pulled his shorts on. Larissa watched his every move while she pulled on his robe and sat on the sofa.
Shane turned, and twisted the doorknob. “Larissa, if you’re willing to throw away everything we’ve built together, then fucking leave,” he slowly opened the front door. She wiped her tears again.
Her chest began heaving up and down, but she didn’t answer. Shane was tired, just when happiness was a reach away; the one person he knew had his back was the one turning away from him. Shane closed his eyes, and clenched his jaw. Larissa was the air that he breathed. “Was it a lie?” Shane’s voice cracked. “All this shit about standing by me, and we can make it through anything together. Was it all a fucking lie?” He shouted, slamming the door shut.
Larissa stood, tears rolled down her face, shaking her head.
“Answer me dammit?” He faced her, “Do you love me?” he raised his voice.
“Do you think this is easy for me?” Larissa pointed at her chest with her index finger as she cried out. “You think I want to be without you?” She wiped her cheeks. “Shane, it hurts me to see the pain you’re in,” her hands shook. “You should never have to choose between your son and a woman. I love you with all that I am, and that’s why I’m willing to let you go.”
“I don’t have to choose between you and my son,” he took several strides forward. “What we have doesn’t have anything to do with Liza. I will handle her.”
“I don’t want you going to jail because of me.” She walked up to him. Her eyes were puffy from crying. Larissa wasn’t one to cry, she normally kept her emotions tightly sealed away.
“Larissa, I would fucking kill for you,” he gazed at her. “Woman, I fucking love you. I will not let you do this to us.”
She caressed the side of his face. “I will sacrifice my happiness for yours and Grayson’s.”
“I won’t be happy if you’re not by my side. Grayson loves you,” Shane took her hand in his, and kissed it. “Don’t you fucking get it? I can’t live without you, Larissa. You’re like my drug of choice. I’m addicted to you and the cure you’re trying to hand me, I don’t fucking need.” In a swift move he wrapped his arms around her back. “Do you love me?” he whispered in her ear.
“I do,” she pulled back, cupping his face. “I have never backed down on anything.”
“Don’t start now,” he bowed his head, and kissed her lips. “I promise.” he said against her lips. “I will fix this. I will put the fear of God in those assholes. I will protect you, us.”
“Shane, I know but…”
“Don’t do this,” they gazed at each other. His nose flared, she wasn’t listening to him. If she left him, all hell was going to break loose, and everyone that was involved in disrespecting Larissa would pay, starting with Liza. “Do I have to show you?” Shane pulled her flushed against him, letting her feel his growing erection. He bit her bottom lip, down her chin, neck, and then her collarbone. His lips brushed against her sensitive skin. “You leave when I fucking say you leave, and that’s never.”
Larissa moaned.
“You don’t want to leave,” he loosened the belt on her robe, touching her hardened nipples. He leane
d down, and sucked on her nipple, making her groan. He came back up. “Do you want to go?”
“No…” She grabbed the back of his neck.
“I’m not letting you go, Rissa.” Shane gazed at her, gently tugging her hair, exposing her neck. He kissed, and then sucked on her sensitive skin. Larissa’s fingers combed through his hair. Shane placed his thigh in between her legs. “Baby… who do you belong to?”
“You,” she whispered. “Only you!”
“I belong to you.” His lips brushed her jawline, and his fingers worked their way to her stomach, down her pelvis, and finally he grazed her pearl. Larissa gasped. “I was made to fucking love you, Larissa.”
“Rissa!” Grayson screamed. They both looked down the hall. “Rissa!”
Shane kissed her luscious lips one more time. She wasn’t going to walk out on him, not tonight, not ever. “Don’t leave, I’ll be back,” he went to move, but she grabbed his arm.
“Your name isn’t Rissa. He wants me,” she tied the belt to the robe, and ambled to Grayson’s room.
~~~
Larissa covered her face with her hands, realizing that was the hardest thing she ever had to do. Shane wasn’t letting her go. She was willing to sacrifice her happiness for his, but thank God she wouldn’t have to. She slowly opened Grayson’s door.
He was awake. “Rissa, bad dream.”
She walked over to his bed, and sat on the edge. “I’m here now,” she combed his hair with her fingers, and then caressed his rosy cheeks. “I won’t let anything bad happen to you. What was the dream about?”
“Monster,” Grayson stared at her. “Closet,” he pointed at the closed double doors.
Larissa stood, “There are no monsters here,” she walked up to the closet, and pulled the doors open. “You see, no monsters.”
Grayson raised his head, inspecting the small area. “Under bed,” he pouted.
She acted like she was looking for the boogeyman all over the room. “Buddy, monsters don’t exist.”
“Mommy call monsters,” he commented.
Larissa took a deep breath, she had to keep her emotions in check. Liza was telling him that monsters were real, was she using that as a form of punishment?
“There are no such thing as monsters,” she tickled Grayson’s tummy. “Let’s say a little prayer to help with the bad dreams.”
Grayson smiled, and patted the spot next to him. “Here”
Larissa moved up, and kissed him on his forehead. “Dear heavenly father please help little man sleep peacefully tonight, amen.”
“Amen… but you forgot to pray for a baby.”
“A baby,” Larissa giggled. She wasn’t ready to be a mother, and Liza definitely didn’t need another child. “Next time I will.”
“No monster.” His small eyelids drooped heavy with sleep. She settled her back against his headboard, and Grayson eased onto her lap. He wrapped one of his hands around her waist, and with the other he held her hand.
“No monsters,” Larissa rubbed his back. “I’m right here.”
“Rissa,” he kissed her chest. “I luv…”
She couldn’t help it, Larissa loved this little boy as if he was her own. How could she turn her back on love? She was a fighter, and if Liza wanted a fight then the gloves were coming off. Liza almost got what she wanted, almost. Larissa came to her senses. “I love you too,” she responded and rocked him back to sleep. Liza was going to have to learn to share Grayson, because she wasn’t going anywhere.
Half an hour later, Larissa closed Grayson’s door, and went down the hall to Shane’s room. “Shane?” She searched the room, but he wasn’t in the bedroom. Her heart raced, praying he didn’t go to Liza’s house. She rushed out off the room, and stopped in her tracks when she saw him. “What are you doing sitting in the dark?”
“Making sure you didn’t fucking sneak out,” Shane turned on the side lamp.
Larissa stared at the love of her life. “You were right, you must have fucked me senseless,” she strolled over to him, and entwined their fingers together. “My mind is clearer now. I know my place is here with you and Grayson.”
Shane’s lips curled into a smile from ear to ear. “We are getting fucking married tomorrow.” He stood.
“We’re getting married, but not tomorrow,” she kissed him. “I have a few things to take care of first.” Shane lifted an eyebrow. “But I promise, I’m not running away from us.”
Chapter Nine
Shane placed the grocery bags on the ground, and knocked on the front door.
“Mommy sleeping,” Grayson looked up at him.
His heart melted, staring into his son’s eyes. He couldn’t explain the love he had for his little boy. It crushed him every time he had to bring him back to Liza’s home, but he couldn’t afford to give her leverage. If he was going to petition for full custody he had to have his ducks in a row. He continued knocking on the wooden barrier, he wanted to pound on the fucking door the way her brothers and bitch of a man had done on his door.
“Coming!” Mrs. Barbara, Liza’s mother yelled.
“Granny!” Grayson grinned, getting excited after hearing her voice. At least he had someone in the home watching out for him. He didn’t like the old woman, but she loved her grandson. Mrs. Barbara had stood up to Liza a couple of times because of Grayson.
She swung the door open. “What the hell,” Barbara’s lips thinned. “You couldn’t wait?”
“Where’s Liza?” He watched the older woman closely.
“She went out,” Mrs. Barbara bent down and kissed Grayson’s forehead. “I missed you. I made you some vanilla pudding.”
Grayson clapped, “Yummy.” He walked in the house, and ran back to the door. “Bye, Daddy. Love you.”
Liza was hiding from him. She started this shit, but he was going to end it. “Tell Liza she can’t hide from me,” Shane raised his voice making sure Liza could hear him. He knew she was hiding somewhere in the house. “She will pay for what she did last night.” He wouldn’t start any shit right now, because he had a date with a chocolate beauty.
“Haven’t you done enough?” She asked, “You shot at my son.” Mrs. Barbara glared at him. “Scott and Bob are sitting in jail because of you.”
“Because of me?” Shane chuckled sarcastically and then got serious. “Your sons came to my fucking house, threatening me and my fiancée while your grandson was sleeping in the next room. Liza better be thankful that I’m a fucking changed man, or else you might have been identifying their bodies at the morgue.”
Barbara covered her mouth with her hand.
He bent down, and picked up the bags. “And can you please ensure your daughter is feeding my son? Every time I pick him up he’s starving,” Shane placed the grocery bags on the other side of the threshold. “Now she doesn’t have any excuses,” he walked off. He prayed that soon he wouldn’t have to bring his son to this hellhole.
~~~
“Mom,” Larissa beamed.
“How are you, sweetheart?” her mother’s soothing voice asked.
“I’m getting married!” She squealed, and her mother yelled. Larissa chuckled at her mother’s antics. Her mom didn’t particularly like Shane at the beginning; he rubbed her parents the wrong way. They envisioned their only daughter marrying a black man, not a rough white man. Larissa asked her parents to give him a chance, and not to judge the book by the cover. Larissa even had to throw Christianity in the conversation. Now her parents loved him once they got to know the man she loved.
“Finally!” her mom yelled, “Honey, come here!”
She grinned thinking about her parents’ relationship. Her parents’ had been married for thirty-six years. They went through their ups and downs, but they survived. That was the kind of love she was looking for, someone she could grow old with, and she found it with Shane.
Larissa could hear her mother talking to her dad, and then her mother placed her on speaker. “Larissa is getting married.”
“He fina
lly worked up the nerve to ask,” her father chuckled. “Shane asked me weeks ago.”
“He asked you?” Larissa was surprised; she assumed it was a spur of the moment decision. She stared at her sparkling ring.
“Yes, that boy turned out to be a very decent man,” her dad stated. “I was wrong about him, I’m glad you didn’t listen to us.”
Did her father just admit that he was wrong? She smiled.
“When are you getting married?” her mother asked.
“We haven’t set a date yet, but if it was up to Shane we’d be married tomorrow.”
“If you get married tomorrow, you better call us. We want to be there,” her mother said, starting to get emotional. “My baby is getting married.”
“Congratulations, sweetie,” her dad said.
There was another call coming in, it was important and she needed to take it. “Mom, Dad I love you, but I have to go. As soon as I know the date you’ll be the first to know.”
“Bye, love you.”
Larissa clicked over. “Hi, Tiffany.”
“You called me several times, how can I assist you?”
“I need a favor,” Larissa tapped her manicured fingernails against her mahogany desk. Liza was going pay for messing with her happiness.
“You already cashed in all your favors,” Tiffany her boss and friend responded. “What is it this time?”
“I’m getting married,” Larissa squealed gazing at her ring.
Tiffany screamed, “You’re engaged. Spill, how, when, where?”
She chuckled, “He surprised me in the bathtub.”
“The bathtub, do I really want to know?”
“I was in the tub by myself. He gave me a box of chocolate, and when I opened it, there was a beautiful ring in the middle of the box. He got down on bended knees, and asked me,” Larissa smiled, remembering Shane down on his knees; she loved that man.
