  CHAPTER SIX

Kyle drove like a madman trying to get to the church. He finally found a parking space, and headed into the church. He burst through the doors yelling, “Stop!”

All heads turned his way including the bride and groom. He stared at the bride, she was a blond with a cute face, but she wasn't Laine.

Just as he started to feel relief, he saw Laine heading his way. Oh shit! I'm fucked.

He saw her signal another lady with her hair in a bun, to get things going again.

Laine approached him, and whispered, “What. Are. You. Doing. Here?” She snagged him by the arm, dragging him outside. She turned and faced him, with her hands on her hips.

“Uh, I thought you were getting married.” He shifted from foot to foot, trying to figure out how to make this right.

She huffed out a breath. “Why did you think I was getting married? And, why in the hell would I be seeing you if I had a fiancé?”

“I was wondering the same damn thing.” He pointed at the church. “You did say 'my wedding'”

She threw her hands up. “It is my wedding, you jackass. I own Bliss, a wedding boutique, and this is my job.” She scoffed. “Well it was my job, if anyone will hire me now.”

“Now wait a minute. I might've caused a little scene, but don't get all carried away. People will hire you all the time.” Damn, he loved it when she got all fired up. It just made the dominant in him want to take control. And, that thought gave him a hard-on.

Her face was red and her tiny fists were balled up tight, and she looked like a pissed off kitten. Which didn't help, he'd already heard her purr. Damn, he was already hot for his little wildcat. Now all he had to do was get her to a private place with him. She was now pacing and mumbling something about either humus or dumbass, and he guessed it was the latter.

“I'm sorry, sweetheart. I won't make the same mistake again.” He held his arms out to her.

She stopped mid-pace, and turned. “Damn right you won't. I think we shouldn't see each other again.” She looked like it actually hurt her to say that.

Well, shit. What the fuck do I do now?

With his arms still out to her, he tried coaxing her. “Lainey, baby, come here. Please, just let me hold you.” He was astonished when she landed in his arms. She pressed her cheek into his chest, her breath heated his t-shirt and her arms twined around his waist. She tucked her hands into his back pockets, giving his ass a squeeze.

She looked up into his eyes. “Why did you call me Lainey?”

He shrugged his shoulders. “I don't know, it just seemed to fit.”

She put her head back on his chest. “I liked it.”

Confused, he still had to ask. “So we're still seeing each other, right?”

“I guess so, but you have to promise not to crash another one of my weddings.”

“Well, now that I know what you do,” he held up two fingers. “I promise not to crash another wedding. Scout's honor.”

She gave a weak laugh. “I think you just about gave Julie a heart attack.”

  “Who's Julie?”

“She's my personal assistant. My right hand basically, and I don't know if I would still be in business without her. Oh, and you haven't met Melanie yet either.”

“And what does Melanie do?” He kissed the top of her head, taking in her honeysuckle scent.

“She's a divorce attorney and my best friend.”

He chuckled. “Well that's convenient. You put them together and she breaks them apart. When do I get to meet her?”

Oh crap, I told her I would try to get her a date with the blond headed guy that works with you. You know Jack or Joe, or something like that.

“Jeff.” He corrected, and automatically felt ill. Jeff was a onetime wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am kind of guy. He didn't want to set Laine's best friend up with him.

  “Is he single?”

“You have no idea.” He rolled his eyes, a headache started to form. This wouldn't be pretty.

“So, will you ask him? It would mean a lot to me.”

“I'll ask him, but no promises.” Yep, a huge headache was forming. Jeff would probably go out with her, but then hurt her. Then Laine would be upset, and his relationship with her would be over for sure. What a clusterfuck. I'll kick his everlovin' ass if he screws up my relationship.

She pulled back from him. “I would love to stay here, but I have to get back in there.”

“Am I going to see you tonight before I go to the station?”

“No I'm afraid not. I have another wedding tonight. You can pretty much count me out of any weekend activities. Everyone wants to get married on the weekend.”

“Damn, I had a dinner date planned for us.”

“Dinner? Why? We're seeing each other for sex remember? No real dates allowed.” She looked spooked. So he amended it.

“I meant you would be dinner.” He swatted her on her bottom.

She blushed. “Oh, um, I'm sorry I'll miss that.”

His dick was hard just thinking of tasting her sweet nectar. “Yeah, me too. I'll be on duty for two days, and then I'm off two days, but we always have the phone.” He waggled his brows.

“On that note, I'm going to go back in there before I'm tempted to do something I shouldn't.” She gave him a quick kiss and went back in the church.

And now for the hard part, how in the hell do I get Jeff to cooperate?

He headed for his truck, pulled out his cell and punched in Jeff's number.

  “Yo. What's up?” Jeff answered.

“I need you to do me a huge favor.” He knew this was going to be a tall order.

“Shit, man, why do I get the feeling this is going to suck?”

“It won't suck. I need you to go out with Laine's best friend.”

“Oh perfect, the best friend crap. Well, is she fat, or ugly, or both?” Jeff sighed.

Kyle rolled his eyes. Jeff could always be a pain in the ass. He had been since they became friends in the third grade. But Kyle couldn't ask for a more loyal friend. “She's pretty.” Or at least he hoped so.

Jeff was silent for a moment. “So, you're really serious about this chic?”

Kyle huffed out a breath. “Yeah, I am. So, are you going to help me out or not?”

“Alright man, I'll do it, but don't expect me to like it.”

“Jeff anybody ever tell you you're an asshole?”

“Yeah, only you, every damn day of my life.”

Kyle laughed, hung up and headed home.

Laine snuck back in the church hoping everything was going okay. Julie seemed relaxed so she let out a sigh of relief. She took her place beside Julie and suddenly Julie's attention was on Laine.

“Was that Mr. Orgasm? If so, I know why you were late. If I had that man in my bed, I wouldn't have shown up at all.” she whispered.

“Yes it was, and you would, too.”

“Why did he burst into the church like that?”

Laine gave a breathy laugh. “Because, he thought I was getting married.” She shook her head in disbelief. Just the thought that he would fight for her gave her a giddy feeling. It was as if butterflies were fluttering in her belly. And while it felt good it also scared the crap out of her.

After David had admitted cheating and left her standing at the altar, she vowed she would never be in that situation again. She just couldn't see herself getting married.

The wedding was a success, and the bride and groom were deliriously happy. She thought, yet another couple getting their happily ever after. Laine felt for the briefest moment that she might have that with Kyle, but dismissed it almost as soon as it occurred to her.

Julie approached her holding two plates of wedding cake and handed one to Laine. “This is why I can't wear anything skimpy.” She took a bite and closed her eyes, savoring the flavor. It was a rich Red Velvet with Cream Cheese icing. This made the whole wedding worth it. But if she wanted to fit into the b
lack lace teddy she'd bought, she would have to limit it to one piece. Eventually, she would wear it for Kyle and let him take it off of her. She got weak in the knees just thinking about it.

If nothing else he was a damn good lover. He always saw to her needs first, which David had never done. He had always just hopped on came and went. Sex had always turned David off. Laine had felt like it was her fault for always nagging him into it. Of course, Candy the girl he'd cheated with was a stick figure with enough plastic in her to rival Barbie. No matter how long it had been, it still hurt her. Her stomach burned with the thought.

“Laine? What's wrong with you? You're a million miles away.”

She snapped out of it, and focused on Julie. “Sorry, I was just thinking.”

“If I had a boyfriend like Mr. Orgasm, I'd be daydreaming, too.” She took a big bite of cake. “It doesn't get much better than sex and cake. I'm jealous.”

“Don't be, you'll find your Mr. Right. I'm sure of it.”

Julie took another bite of cake and shrugged.

“After we finish we need to head to the chapel for the Kessler wedding.”

Julie almost choked on her cake. “That one is going to be a disaster I'm sure. We have hostile relatives that shoot each other in the ass with BB guns. And I've been warned that the feud isn't over. Oh, and she got a perm yesterday and her hair is fried.”

“This one is going to be all kinds of fun,” Laine said.

“Maybe we should have hired security for this one.”

“Probably, but it's too late now.”

Laine finished her cake, gave her congratulations to the couple, and headed for the chapel.

The chapel was decorated in peaches and cream colors, with large gaudy bunting. Laine shivered; the distaste overwhelming her. Some women just like god-awful colors, and tacky designs. Laine preferred champagne colors and soft lighting, like she had at her almost wedding.

She wondered why she couldn't just let it go. David was a terrible lover, very inattentive, and almost always talked exclusively about the hospital. He was absolutely nothing like Kyle.

If her parents hadn't thrown them together, she doubted they would ever have gone out in the first place. No, definitely not, she decided. David was her father's protégé, the next head of Neurology at Garady Hospital. Never mind he was a whole generation older than her. At the time she hadn't minded, but now that she thought of it, it bothered her. Why her parents had insisted on her marrying him was beyond her. She thought she might have been misreading him, or that he was exhausted, but he didn't even really seem to like her. There was no passion whatsoever, and if there was any sex, she had to initiate it.

Kyle was the exact opposite. He was overly attentive, passionate, and extremely sexual. He was definitely no David.

She sighed and turned to leave the peach pit, and her cell rang. “Hello?”

“Hi, darling, it's your mother.” Laine rolled her eyes.

“Hi, mom, what's going on?” God, she didn't want to talk to her mother today.

“Karen Hanson is getting married and we've been invited, so Daddy and I are going to come visit you for a while. I hope you don't mind, dear. ”You'll hardly even notice us in that big old house.

Panic, overwhelming panic flushed through her system, making her sweat and shake. How in the hell could she have her parents in the house with Kyle? Her mother was anything but rational and wouldn't stand for her daughter having sexual relations with a common man. Nothing about Kyle said class and sophistication. He wasn't part of their society, which was why Laine liked him so much.

“I'm handling Karen's wedding and it's not until next weekend”

“Yes dear, but daddy and I thought we would visit and get in some shopping while we were there. We'll be arriving Monday, so arrange for a car to pick us up would you dear?”

Laine fluttered her shaking hand over her chest and swallowed hard against the knot in her neck. “Yes, mother. I'll make sure there is a car there for you.”

It made her sick to say that. Monday was when Kyle was off again. Maybe they could stay at his place? That thought made her feel a lot better.

“You're such a good girl, sweetie, I love you, kiss, kiss.” And she hung up.

Laine closed her phone and stood with a blank stare on her face.

“What's the matter, Laine?” Julie asked entering the peach colored sanctuary.

“My mother is coming into town.” Bile rose in the back of her throat.

“Oh wonderful, I absolutely adore your mother.”

Laine stared at her for a moment. “Good, then you can go shopping with her.”

Realization hit Julie. Her eyes went wide. “Oh no, what about Mr. Orgasm?”

Laine nodded. “Exactly. What about him? What am I supposed to do brush him off? Then he'll never want to see me again.” Laine pinched the bridge of her nose, feeling the beginnings of a migraine coming on.

“I was just coming in to tell you the wedding party has arrived. The bride is in the ready room, and her party is at the bar. And to be on the safe side we're not serving alcohol at the moment. We're serving soda and non-alcoholic drinks. I didn't want them fighting too, soon.”

Laine didn't really care at the moment. She had other worries on her mind now. “Um, Julie, do you think you can handle this one on your own? I have something I need to do.”

“Of course, I can handle it, and you mean you have someone you need to do.”

She felt her ears go hot, and nodded her head. “Thanks a million, Jules.”

  * * * *

Kyle had just pulled into his driveway when his cell rang. He looked at caller I.D. it was Laine. He snapped it off his belt and answered. “Hey, beautiful, how are things in wedding land?”

“Things are fine, or I guess they are I'm on my way home.”

  “What's wrong? Are you okay?”

His concern was touching. “I'm fine; I just wanted to see you again. Where are you?”

“I'm at home, but I can be there in thirty minutes.”

“Good, you have the gate code, and the front door will be open.”

He was already getting hard. Laine was his weakness. Just hearing her voice got him excited. He was starting to feel things he hadn't planned on, making him nervous. The problems were she wanted a strictly sexual relationship, and she was in a class above his pay grade. He still wanted to be a little more than friends with benefits.

He backed out of his driveway almost hitting the mailbox. Damn, he wanted her bad. “I'm already on my way, Lainey. I'll be there before you know it.” He hung up and stepped on it. He'd break every damn traffic law getting to her.

He pulled into her driveway, and jogged to the door. He didn't know what she had in store for him, but he couldn't wait to find out. He twisted the handle, and entered the foyer. It was empty so he made his way back to her bedroom, and there she was on her bed wearing a black lace teddy that left nothing to the imagination. Her hair was fanned out over the pillow. She looked like she belonged on the cover of a magazine. His cock swelled behind his zipper instantly.

"Hi, sweetheart, you're gorgeous. I wish I had a picture of you like this. He remembered his cell, and took it off his belt. He held it up and snapped a picture before she could protest.

“Now I have something to get me through till Monday.”

Laine frowned. “Yeah, about Monday, I was hoping we could spend time at your house.”

No, tell her no. My entire house could fit in her kitchen. God, he didn't want to do that, but if that's what she wants, so be it.

“Okay, but I'll have to get rid of my roommate.” Jeff wouldn't be too happy about it. He'd want to share her, but Laine wasn't someone he would share. Kyle would kill him if he touched her, best friend or not.

“Good enough. Now get over here and do with me what you will.”

That was all the invitation he needed. “Yes ma'am. I hope you're ready for some hard lovin'”

“I can see it's hard already.”
He approached the bed and Laine stroked the length of his erection through his jeans.

“Dammit, woman, I can't believe what you do to me.”

“As long as you like what I do to you, we'll get along just fine.”

His dick was painfully hard, getting zipper tracks on the underside as they spoke.

“I love what you do to me, and what you're going to do for me right now.”

She looked into his ice blue eyes. “And what is it I'm going to do?”

He gave her a devilish smile. “You're going to undo my pants and use that pretty little mouth of yours to pleasure me.”

She smiled back at him. “Yes, sir.”

“I like it when you call me sir. Keep that up.”

She sat up and reached for his belt. He hissed through his teeth when her delicate fingers grazed the tip of his cock. She fumbled with the button, making him want to help her, but he refrained, enduring this exquisite torture. Finally she pulled down the zipper releasing him from his denim confines. She caught him with her hand, staring at the bulbous head, licking her lips.

“Damn baby, I might not last long in that gorgeous little mouth of yours.”

Her pink tongue darted out licking the tiny bead of pre-come from the slit. He swore under his breath, feeling her velvety tongue licking him, loving his cock. He had no idea she would be so enthusiastic.

She took the head into her mouth, sucking his sanity out through his dick.

He groaned. “Yeah, baby, that's it, suck me.” Damn, he was in love with her mouth.

The sound of wet slurping filled the room. He watched her head bobbing back and forth, her cheeks hollowing on the upstroke, and puff out on the down stroke. His fingers stabbed through her hair, grabbing a handful and pulling her mouth off of him before he exploded.

She looked confused. “I don't want to come in your mouth, Lainey. I want to come in your tight little pussy.”

He toed off his boots, and slipped out of his pants that were around his ankles. He slipped his t-shirt over his head, and tossed it carelessly to the floor.

He crawled onto the bed next to her, and kissed her senseless, their tongues licking and exploring each other's mouths. He could taste his salty wild taste on her tongue. They were both breathless when they came up for air. His large palm caressed her breast making her nipple pucker. She moaned with delight.
