“Grace,” he crushed her to him. “My dear Grace. You came back.”

He kissed her until she lost her breath, gave her a moment to fill her lungs and then kissed her soundly again.

She giggled through her desire for him. “I can’t believe that she is here. Gillian is safe..and we…”

  “Yes, we can be together.”

She leaned in and kissed him this time, pleased to take his breath away for once.

“We will be married at once. Would you like a tour of Silverhurst Keep? Your new home. Welcome home, my Grace.”

She pressed into him until he was against the wall. Just because he was a duke, didn’t mean that he was going to boss her around. She kissed him softly and groaned as he pulled her closer, nibbling on her ear. She pulled back, meeting his eyes with hers. “You may be getting ahead of yourself, Philip. Where I’m from, a girl gets to date first before she agrees to marry. Why don’t we start with dinner before you try to move me into the Duchess suite?”

He laughed and kissed her again. Struggling to breathe, she thought she might be approaching combustion as his lips worked their own kind of magic on first her lips, then her throat. He whispered in her ear as his hands continued to travel over her body, bringing her to new heights of pleasure. “How can you think of dinner at a time like this?”

She giggled softly. “Okay, fine. First you kiss me. Then dinner. Then we can talk about more permanent arrangements. I need to be sure I like you.”

With a growl, he scooped her up and carried her up the stairs to his bedroom. “Yes. Let us get to know each other. I think that is a splendid idea.”

She laughed loudly and he covered her mouth with his.

This she could get used to.

“Why, Your Grace. How scandalous.” She feigned innocence and then returned his kiss. “I couldn’t agree more. Why don’t you prove to me that I can be safe with a vampire. How do I know I can trust you?”

She winked at him, not even the slightest bit frightened of him.

“My pleasure, Grace. I want so much more than your blood, my love.”

Then he carried her into his room and kicked the door closed behind them. He placed her gently on his large bed and gave the future duchess of Silverhurst a welcome she wouldn’t soon forget.

Thank you Jennifer Shields for your tireless attention to detail. Since that is where the devil resides, I’m so glad you are brave enough to go there.

Thanks to my readers, who fill my heart with a little bit of sunshine. I’m looking at you, Kendra Schmucker and Heidi Martin!

Finally, this project wouldn’t have been possible without the collaboration of the other Kendawyn authors, Pamela Welsh and Amanda A. Allen. Creating this world with you was fascinating and fun! Looking forward to spending a lot of time visiting Kendawyn.

Auburn Seal published her first short story in 2012. Since that time, she has written and published many stories in a variety of fictional worlds. Of Auburn’s nine titles currently available, only one of them doesn’t include death in some form. It’s not that she is particularly dark, but rather that fictional violence is exceptionally therapeutic. For the record, she wants to announce that she is only a murderous psychopath in her books. In real life, she is a perfectly lovely person with only a slightly twisted mind. Auburn lives in the Pacific Northwest with her family.

Welcome to Kendawyn, where the nobles that grace high society are also vampires, werewolves, ghosts, mages, and reapers. The species co-exist peacefully and generally go about their lives consumed with the trappings of a society that is divided more by class than race. Kendawyn is a pocket universe wherein those humans with a recessive magical gene who dwell on the Other Side can inadvertently travel when they are faced with a great need. For some, they travel to Kendawyn at the moment of their death and exist as ghosts. Others happen into this idyllic world for reasons they don’t yet know.
